And it actually really pays off. A whole episode dedicated to just learning about these peoples lives and motivations, instead of just talking about it or flashbacks. its not just about going back, its about why they’re there in the first place.

This series got me hyped for season 2 its gonna focus more on ending the game and maybe mention the other “games” being played around the world since one of the VIP guys mentioned that Korea has the best roster this year

No it's not. The shit they go through in the game is far more traumatizing and brutal than anything someone can imagine. Plus only 1 person out of like 500 gets out.

yes !!! its about the desperation !! its about giving consent but having no desire !! its about the despair of knowing youd rather have a bloody, risky, fighting, SLIM chance, than to die in poverty !!! the performative consent and the way the players choose to come back to the game is what made the show 1000000x better, thematically. without episode 2, this show would not have been as good as it was

How would you cheat doing that? The 2nd game was based on either what you knew ahead of the game or what you smuggled in. So unless you crawled through a vent at the exact time they melted the sugar, smuggled a lighter, or saw the "Honeycomb" on a red sheet of paper, how exactly would you have cheated without being lucky enough for the right circumstances to be set up for you? Like I said, it's all instincts & luck. There's no guarantee you'd have beat the games. It's easy to believe you'd win from the comfort & safety of your couch. Have you ever played a game while bullets were flying around you? Yeah I doubt it. I've lived as a war civilian, I've made a lot of mistakes that almost got me killed. Luck was the only thing on my side every time I got shot at, tear gassed, or when I avoided getting bombed. Don't pretend you know anything about how you'd do in a life-threatening situation. Not even I'd know my chances at winning, yet you think you know? Pfft.

@@xxiii262 Probably cause it came on Netflix. Usually people don't go out there way to watch k drama except for stans and obviously koreans. Im looking at it now and I bet theres more shows that im missing that are really good out there, but don't know because its not originated in america, like Lupin, money heist and squid games. I thought money heist was the best show ever on netflix after season 1. Im looking at squid games and this show is literally goated.

Yeah, the Netflix english subtitles have some "incorrect" or "inaccurate" word choices for translations.

I think the manga you're looking for is Liar Game. XD It's a similar premise, with no death, but so so soooo clever. They made a Korean series of the manga back in 08 I think. They made some minor changes to the manga but it really did it justice. I loved it.

@@magickwrld4886 The cinematography really pushes it over the top for me. Not at 10, but 8 or 9 for sure. This whole show is really well filmed and I’m only appreciating it more on the second watch. The sequence at the end where it cuts between the major contestants as they wait for the van is masterful in the way it punctuates each of their stories.
