True, but I feel like it's not that big of a deal at the same. We k-drama lovers made the "dubbing or no dubbing" a really big affair for nothing in my opinion, because at the end of the day it's really just about people's preferences and/or what they're comfortable with. But all I saw was kdrama fans making fun of the people who prefered dubbed saying things like "bruh you can't read?". Crazy thing is they criticizing right now but they're probably the same ones watching La Casa de Papel dubbed😐. I don't understand very much tbh, especially since the people that love watching spanish movies (sorry idk if there's a term for it) never thought it was a big deal when people were watching this show dubbed. And k-movies fans never were complaining when Train to Busan or Parasite became known worlwide and people were listening to them in their own language. Sorry for the rent, I just had to get this out.

I dont think so, actually. Notice that Gi gets shoved to the ground during the running part, and literally the next thing they cut to is the doll searching around for movement. I think its calculating intentional movement versus being shoved, otherwise the main character would die in game 1.

It actually isn’t as crazy as you think. Once you watch enough shows and movies, it becomes easier and easier to predict story lines, plots, twists. It shows that a lot of shows can be very similar and that’s why when a show that completely throws people of guard and does better then your expectations are hailed as masterpieces.

The VIPs betting on people crossing a bridge is a straight up ripoff of Kaiji Squid Game is as unoriginal as it comes

Yes the games are very simple and straightforward compared to Alice in borderland and the plot twist and storyline is much simpler too. But it is still really enjoyable and I think squid game is getting a lot of people into East Asian content ( which mean Netflix could do more shows like this in the future) and hopefully a “Alice in Borderland reaction” is soon to come after they finish this

I think what people dont get is that fundamental difference isnt the games. its the premise. alice in borderland, hunger games and battle royal are about the death games. squid game is about the people in death games. its a social commentary on late stage capitalism and how it controls us. the system works against people dealt a weaker hand. all the players are volunteering. unlike other death games were its abduction and forceful. this is such a deep message to capitalism and how we live and die by money. controlled to the end.

@@grantisshananaa4906 the character arc and plot point went over your head. the protagonist was happily married and had a well paid job at a car company. one accident and he lost his job among with everyone in his company. no way to find a company job without a degree he opened multiple businesses that failed. down on his luck he wanted his old life back and seeing it all slip away he got into gambling. you see there is more than meets the eye. people just dont get into gambling addictions for no reason. but of course he is responsible for his situation. the critic on late stage capitalism here is that the rich can prey on the weak. the organization is giving them a free choice by joining the games while coercing, manipulating and persuading them knowing their desperate situation. its like waving a $100 to two homeless guys offering them a reward by making them fight. theres an abundance of themes of capitalism and classicism in this show if you take a closer look.
