Had a 4-man running for 6 hours straight. We worked together for so long, we functioned like a well oiled machine. We ran on Challenging and split off into 2 man teams. My brother and I ran a crew weapon, Autocannon. The other two ran single use anti-tank launchers. We worked so well in our 2-man teams, we'd take 1 half of the map and they'd take the other half of the map in a loop and we'd designate a rally point to meet up at. Let me tell ya. After having a tough and successful mission on our side and meeting up for one final push with the other who went through the same feels amazing.
Noted from playing with others, the game never explains it... but holding down Square [Reload] gives options for your current weapon, such as adjusting firing speed (very useful for the LMGs) or semi/burst/auto, zoom distance with scopes, flashlight, etc. And those shipping containers dug into the ground... throwing a grenade at them opens them up yielding credits and medals!
the game actually teach it though but not directly; if you pay attention to the screen above the ship management monitor, there's acually an animation of the tutorial captain explaining that gun have multiple firing mod, although I don't remember if it taught you to hold the reload button. I personally discover that feature accidentally lol.
@@SUBZER0GREENafter that I easily got anoth 800 without even noticing. though as it stands now the premium BP doesnt really have much going for it because these weapons are stated like ass. and each outfit has the same passive.
Lmao after the patch? You can play a whole day and get maybe 40-60 SC The fact that I can drop $10 and have a shotgun with fire damage . . . makes the game p2w. The DDR stratagem mechanic is pretty annoying especially at higher difficulties. I refunded because of it.
@@jodo2785cap i just got over 300 supercredits in less than 40 minutes speedrunning missions and i can beat helldive without any paid guns or armor no problem
@fatbroccoli8 No, it really is a lot of shooters these days getting rid of grenade cooking for various reasons ("realism" and "balance" being the two big ones).
Yeah I was primed and ready to throw a napalm strike marker, friend knocked me over with a grenade and I dropped the marker, was confused as to why I had my gun out and then the whole squad got burnt to a crisp. I was like "ah what was that? Definitely wasn't me that accidentally killed everyone..."
Fighting bile titan with my buddy using EAT-17s. He's prepping a cluster strike strategem. I forget to check for backblast. Sends him flying 30 ft off the cliff behind us. He drops strategem at my feet. 2 seconds later, im in orbit. 10/10
Funniest thing happened to me earlier when fighting a Bile Titan. I got decimated by it but my teammates got me back in through reinforcements and when I dropped down in the Pod, I aimed for the abdomen and went straight though the Bile Titan killing and cutting it in half. I was laughing my ass off. The limb physics are so good that it cut the abdomen right where I went though 😂
i love that you guys still make this how many years later idek how many years i’ve always looked up your before you buy vids before i get almost any game haha
Me and 2 of my buddies were actively holding a hill on extreme difficulty. Ended up getting kicked off the ridge and was forced to fight an active downhill return fire retreat the whole way down. Forced to take cover behind the smallest rocks and dead bodies and fighting until we are able to get air strikes or artillery to cover our retreat to more solid ground. Helldivers 2 can have you mowing down enemies and clearing cave systems one minute and then into a full blown retreat with your buddies renacting the last chopper out of Saigon the next. Would recommend highly.
@@biglean4137- It’s “optional” in the sense that the mission will still be completed if you don’t make it, as long as the main objectives are complete. My brother and I had a tragic 10 minute long demise after we completed main objectives cuz we took too long and got overrun. 😂 still passed the mission tho
If you're exhausted from battling try-hards in Apex Legends or Call of Duty, this game will surely brighten your mood. If you enjoyed Left 4 Dead back in the day, you'll have a blast with this game. After growing tired of the super competitive battle royale games, I gave this a shot, and now I'm in love with it. I don’t think I’ll be playing battle royals for a while.
Great post, totally agree, its so nice to play with a positive community unlike Dota/League and FPS games like you mentioned. Plus this game is just magic, some of the most fun I've had in a long time, and I've been playing games since the NES days.
Something you forgot to mention. The warbonds or “battlepass” doesn’t go away. It’s there forever, so if you want something there you don’t have to meet a deadline, and any currency you need to buy the premium warbond you earn while playing so. It’s not locked behind a paywall. Very important to differentiate.
@@blackfireslayer9869it seems like arrowhead will be drip feeding content to keep the game fresh. The first game had lots of vehicles and third alien enemy faction that are not in this game yet.
I was playing solo until lvl 7 just to get my grip on things and when i found a match with another helldiver it was soo badass and i we felt like a real unit , having each others back , and blowing each other up with a orbital strike "accidentally" , absolutely love this game
Something you didn't note was that when you're choosing a planet I love that you can see how many players are on planets and how much it's been taken. The way it changes to different planets through the games galaxy over time is a really unique part of the game.
one of few games where i can queue quick play and band together with (more than likely) really cool teammates. Everyone i’ve played with were all fun to play with and cooperative. with that foundation, the experiences the game throws at you enhance!
This is the key thing, since there is no PVP people are not toxic in 99% of cases. The community has been amazing and similar to deep rock galactic (rock and stone)
The thing I found hilarious is that when you do the directionals for the Reinforce strategem to revive someone, it's Up Down Right Left Up. You're literally drawing a cross and pointing up to bring someone back! And a neat little tip, if your whole squad is dead and you're about to be horrendously overrun and you know you're going to die, pull up Reinforce but don't throw it right away. When you inevitably die you will drop your ball, and it will trigger. It will respawn everyone, including you!
if you have reinforcements left, this happens by default - whole team respawns in when you wipe. Dont need to have the reinforce strat active in-hand. Rather focus on having a clusterbomb in-hand when you die, for democratic retribution, that is!
Holy shit, I even played the first game and I never realized that you're drawing a cross when you reinforce. There's so many cool small details in this game like that i feel. Arrowhead really blew it out of the park with this game imo
Can we also mention the fact that the transition from top down to 3rd person was so flawless? The gameplay of the original has basically been fully preserved whilst opening up a whole new dynamic because of the pov.
Yeah, this really feels like Jake's just discussing the first game. I wasn't sure if they'd be able to transfer the feel of the original game to a third-person more 3D style, but it really sounds like they nailed it.
@@Vynne96-jg7er it basically doesn't. Everything can be easily unlocked with currency earned in game and the only thing you can spend money on is for shop armors that are easily purchased by playing the game
I've played solo for around 13 hours in this game. I have really enjoyed the fighting aspect in this game, more specifically, the stratagems you can deploy with the little minigame.
this was one of the first videos i’ve ever bought before watching this. but it’s one of my favorite new games to come out in so long. always appreciate these videos. being for solo I solo challenging and there is a learning curve but it’s worth it.
The hardest difficulties are nuts, but so much fun and really put your game knowledge to the test. Lower difficulties will have killing a single bile titan as a mission objective. The hardest difficulties will throw three of them at you at a time. It’s chaotic af and I love it
and by that you mean they will throw three Bile Titans at you at a time - and then it is not even part of the objective, thats just as part of the basic enemy spawns!!
@leakysandwich nothing like getting a bug breach and seeing 4 bile titans spawn out just to distracf you from the real threat that spawned with them. 4 chargers snd ones a goliath
Played my first helldiver difficulty last night. At one point had 3 titans and 7 chargers chasing me, as well as a ton of squishy bugs. Was an absolute nightmare.
Just an FYI to new players, while not aiming your weapon hold R (on keyboard not sure on console) and you can select your scope zoom and auto single burst and flashlight, and on the LMG you can increase fire rate!
I’ve been truly enjoying this game. I’ve been at work and thinking “man i can’t wait to get home and play Helldivers” It’s just so chaotic that it’s fun. the other players you’ll meet, and the interactions with them on your journey, will stick with you. so many funny moments, and it’s so joyful you don’t even get mad when you accidentally get TK’d. i don’t have a squad to play with, but i find this game so enjoyable just going into a quick match with randoms. even though i’ve never played with these people before, it feels like we trained and learned as a squad together. everybody just has the same goal, and everyone realizes it won’t work without support from your team/supporting your team.
@@taifal-cookie5862Yep you can, it will take a long time but you can. On the other hand, the premium pass has nothing interesting/ganebreaking and you probably want to finish the free first anyway
I want to play it for the simple fact that it reminds me of battlefield 1, it does not really matter how you die, because in battle you die a lot, it’s just immersive goofing off in a shooter and it’s really cinematic
I honestly love the fact you can’t jump, can’t move while reloading heavy weapons, lose a ton of accuracy when moving and shooting, lose your spare ammo in the cartridge when reloading. The gameplay feels really grounded and heavy giving it a slightly realistic and military tone even tho the rest is just over the top chaos and comedy lol it really nails it imo
I think this game really nails that feeling where stuff just "makes sense". Like when I overcharged my railgun with the limiter off, and the thing just blew up and killed me. Then the gun also gets destroyed unlike other dropped heavy weapons because...well..it should be 😍
The attention to detail in this game is incredible. The way your ship flies across the planet to the spot your mission is before you drop, the other player ships in the air, the stratagem drops coming from your exact ship in the sky, and how the ordinance come at an angle if you move away from your ship etc. So good!
I wish they had the budget for cross over events like Xenomorphs, the actual starship troopers bugs, and Warhammer. They would all fit nicely right into this game.
There is an aliens game that is better then this game look up aliens fireteam elite same format and super fun and rewarding lots of gear and customization and xenonorphs are the core enemy
Landing on the robot map was really something for me and my friend after just playing easy on the bugs map. Boy were we in for a surprise. We were walking through the forest taking in the map when we start getting shot at out of no where and then we turn behind and there is a whole fleet of terminator robots marching towards us out of a lake 😅 it was insanely terrifying and so much fun
Another plus is the items you collect on the maps (medals, currency, samples ect) is shared across the whole group so you don’t have that one guy hoarding all the loot and keeping it while their team mates are doing all the work.
This is honestly the best game I've ever played, not to be dramatic. It incorporates all my favorite things. It does have some server issues intermittently, but it's forgivable being so new. The developers really care and interact with the game and community.
So glad to see a developer commit themselves to a solid co-op experience. Gaming in the last ten or so years has shied away from a genuine co-op experience and I just absolutely love this game. If you just want to play something with some buddies and have a good damn time and enjoy yourself and also be frustrated at the same time this is it! I highly recommend it!💯💯💯
True, there are so so many games support co-op mode but they basically don't know the strong points of co-op and just let players play their own singleplayer game in co-op environment
Man I love this chanel so much. You are my only game refference and the only online opionion I ever consider when buying. None else has my trust this much. Please keep up the good work man amd I wish you only the best.
It's absolutely a fun game, specifically with friends. If you've got a group of people you play with regularly, definitely get it! The loop reminds me of The Finals, just in the sense that eventually it eventually feels repetitive and solo lacks pull to keep playing. However, those are the only flaws I have with it. Overall 7/10 in my books though!
For some reason, it immediately reminds me of a game from 2011 called Section 8: Prejudice. It was a casualty of Games for Windows Live, no longer available for purchase.
Game has gone from a 56% on steam when I first looked to a 71% now, I'm loving it. Currently cruising the galaxy in my ship, The "Distributor of Family Values"
Been playing solo and honestly it isn’t bad. Hoping for them to fix their servers bc it’s definitely hard but it’s manageable and I love the gameplay loop.
Love the game, just a tip: there is "weapon customization". Each weapon has its own customization radial. You can access it by holding the reload button and hitting the directionals used on the terminal. Nice little touch. Mainly fun for adjusting scope ranges, machine gun rpm, and turning off the safety on the railgun because only a coward uses a safety (Sect 40B).
I’ve got this and I’m playing it with my father uncle and brother gotta say it’s a fantastic game had lots of laughs on it, I called in a drop and my dad was being chased by a bunch of bugs and the drop pod landed on him 😭
Heck, yeah! I’m about to buy this and dive in! I was a little hesitant, because I’m not a fan of joining randoms, and needing to sit in a voice chat with people that it might be obnoxious or just ruin my vibe, but I read a plethora of comments on Reddit saying that you do not need to use the mic and that many of them never use it and get perfect runs. While it may make it easier, it is not essential so don’t let that turn you away!! I was so glad I read that, and it convinced me.
Another thing I want to mention is that even tho there is a premium pass, not only can you earn the currency to get it in game, but you can only pay for access to the pass itself. There is no way to use paid for currency to speed up progression, and the premium pass items cost significantly more medals (the in game currency to buy personal equipment) to get than the free pass, meaning if you try to go for it first you are going to be without new weapons for a while. And again, there is no way to buy medals, you have to earn them in game. So it really ends up feeling more like an end game pass after you've beaten the free one, which by that point you will have likely earned enough points to buy it for free, assuming you haven't been spending them all on the shop items.
You can get them fairly fast too. At level 16 I got a total of around 1200, which is enough for the 1000 credit premium pass. This gives you pretty good opportunity to get the premium pass and buy armor from the 2 day rotating shop. Just make sure you're not just speed running the obj every mission. A lot of the credits and medals you get early on are gonna be found scattered through the map at points of interest so explore when you can.
@clalam5241 A relatively easy to buy battle pass. You can find the credits to purchase the premium pass in the free pass and throughout missions very easily. At 2/3 of the way through the free pass, I've had credits to purchase the premium pass twice while purchasing armor from the store. Basically you would have to actively try to not earn enough credits to buy the premium pass.
@@clalam5241a pass that you can completely get in game, and a pass that by the time you get to “endgame” you should already have the ability to get anyways, assuming you save them and don’t spend in the shop.
No it doesn’t It’s extremely shallow Hollow And bland From beginning to end It’s literally a boring shooting simulator with zero story or meaningful quests. Games a flop
After weeks of living in comfort, listening to the reports from the front lines... I could no longer justify my none participation. I went to my local Helldiver Corps recruiting station and signed up. Democracy and Freedom served with a hot cup of Liber-Tea.
I've heard a lot of people trying the game and talking about lack of mission types. But so much is unlocked on harder difficulties. I've actually been surprised by how much new stuff I can unlock and how it changes strategies.
Strongly agree about not playing solo. Downloaded and played a few missions solo and was pretty hard and not so fun. Unfortunately I don’t have many friends but I joined the official helldivers 2 discord and found some people to play with through there in LfG and had a lot more fun
Sounds like this game is only popular due to playing with others being much more popular nowadays than in past. To me it just looks like a generic looter shooter like Division 2, its just that Division 2 like Warframe has been shooting itself in the foot by removing old/legacy content meaning that any new players will quit the game before reaching end-game due to story being confusing, being behind of others significantly and/or seeing stuff you can't get anymore.
I've been playing solo and have been having alot of fun regardless, dying usually means you can respawn in automatically but only a few times before its game over.
@@Dogtoucher2 I say it’s worth it to play solo there’s multiple difficulty modes to play and you only really need more teammates for the harder difficulties besides you can also join randoms
Something bungie and 343 had no balls to do. In a perfect world we coulda been fighting the flood and covenant just like this. Their famous trailer did it but what we got was some lame ass story about nobodies dying in the end. Pisses me off. Oh well.
@@SOSOLRAK If I recall, Buck. Dutch and Micky all went on to become Spartan IVs to fight against the Created. They're not really "nobodies". They're just characters that 343 has not capitalized on since ODST happened. They're still around in lore, and have been referenced.
@@Tazytots thats cool i guess. You dont even get to play as them. You’re this silent type that gets brutally tortured and killed by covenant but we dont see it. It happens in the books…
seeing how rare co-op horde shooters are, i appreciate them more dearly. im happy HD2 came as an amalgamation of the genre akin to previous titles. being engaging (task based mini-puzzle games during the chaos 😂), fun, team oriented (those reinforcement drop kills are satisfying), rewarding and worth it character progression, and notably the unintrusive/non-FOMO seasonpass model for a live service. but its silver lining comes w/ its PC-port state of arguably a "BETA" state of release that cost 40$ for the rest of AA game that cost 30$. polishing out those blemishes will cement its status and gradually sells will follow.
They shouldn’t be this rare, there is definitely still a market for co op shooters. My buddies and I have been working through Remnant 2 and we’re always looking for something we can all do together
Couple things i learned. I you keep square pressed it will give you more options for the weapons. I you press right thumbstick inside you can actually go into fps with your weapon. You can break some of the crates with melee punches and dont trust your teammates with a flamethrower
The 'paid' battlepass is earnable, the microtransaction currency can be used to buy the pass, however you can earn the currency in missions. I already have the premium pass just from grinding for a little bit the currency, and in the pass both the premium and not, you can earn the premium currency in both too. That means in missions you can earn this currency, in buying rewards for the pass thats free you get5 extra, and in the premium pass you can earn in this one at least 30% of what you spent on it back in premium currency. It aint no pay to access scenario. This is the one and only 'good' kinds of microtransactions so that aint no hurt point for this game.
I totally agree with you brotha. I played a handful of solo games and when i finally joined another squad with mics the fun factor multiplied substantially. Im hoping this game sticks and goes somewhere. We all know we need it imo
Very impressed with the speed with which arrowhead is fixing the game up. In the first 12 hours all my most major technical problems are solved, and I experienced basically every one of them on PC.
Anti cheat seems unrelated to performance issues. I was unable to get above 20 fps for the first couple hours and now I'm locked at 60 literally never dipping. I wasn't getting proper usage of CPU before. I'm not sure what it was but anti cheat has not meaningfully changed since then and the problems are gone.
I am legitimately excited to play this game in the near future. I can still remember a game in Helldivers 1 where I got spawn camped by my own teammate's drop pod right at the start of the game. That lead into a frenzy of him trying to revive me as he immediately got swarmed by bugs. I got revived right as he died, but then I died almost immediately after. The entire mission lasted maybe 30 seconds and we got a game over screen.
You can find super credits on missions, that premium battle pass isn’t locked. You just have to put more hours into the game and the pass never expires. So you will get it eventually if you’re free to play.
In addition, there's premium currency in the free battle pass, the micro transactions are done right in helldivers (so far, hopefully they don't raise the prices later...looking at you darktide)
I got together with a group of friends who all got the game on launch day and we played 12 hrs straight. So many funny moments and amazing plays. This is my favorite game of the year so far
I think you might not know, but the thing I like about this battlepass, is that paying is optional. You can find the credits needed to buy the second battle pass in game, and you can get them in the free battlepass too. I personally was able to get it just by playing the game, without expending a single euro more. It's made in a way that you can pay, but only if you really think the game deserves it and you want to support it more. If you don't want to, or don't have the money, just play the game, look for the points of interest (that's where the credits will be) and you'll unlock it in a few hours of game if you save the credits for it
Helldivers 1 had an upgrade system for weapons and after playing most of the weapons, each of them have their own uses based on certain situations but they all fall short in at least 1 area that an upgrade system would fix, so I hope they do add an upgrade system to HD 2 as well.
@@Steven-tl8fs what? It was a great game that got an awesome sequel. Infact i also miss the weapon upgrade system, also the new armors look like shit. Where's my woodland/arctic gear get this discount Halo trash out of here.
The positive side of Warbonds/Battle Pass in HD2 it does not make feel FOMO, complete it whenever you want. I like that, really helps for working dudes out there.
It's not a battle pass though, you unlock the weapons with medals which you get for completing missions and extra for completing both missions in one campaign!@@GameFuMaster
@@GameFuMaster That's the negative side tho, but eventually, its earnable the more you play, a progression regardless. My problem is there is no weapon customization like in HD1..
Fun fact: The music is composed by Wilbert Roget II who worked on Destiny 2: Forsaken! Most notably the Vault encounter theme for the Last Wish Raid “Watchtower” 😍
didn’t watch this vid and just bought it straight out and from someone who has regretted a LOT of game purchases. I have zero regrets with buying this game, the only multiplayer game i would play would be for honor and i hated that i couldnt find another multiplayer game, i saw one 15 second vid of this and immediately got excited, got my 40 bucks and bought it with $1.01 off from my playstation wallet 🙏🏾 the game is beautiful, action packed, feels smooth and immersive to play, extremely cinematic without trying too hard to be, the physics are well rounded, the mechanics are engaging and fun and this is the initial release, i havent experience a single bug that was gamebreaking or something that really had an effect on me, i can truly for the first time in my life call this game perfect in my eyes (aside from the server capacity but that’s due to the fact helldivers 1 peaked at 10k players so they truly did not anticipate this much love which is sad because this game is so beautiful they deserve all the love and all the players they’re getting.) the literal only game i’d pay for a battlepass or anything on, the stuff actually has benefits and isnt strictly cosmetic and it’s a game i plan to grind constantly regardless of having no group to play with.
is it true that you need ps+ to be able to play Helldivers 2 at all? Aint got no so called friends playing on Playstation so it kinda dont feel worth it paying every month...
Something funny i noticed. When you do the pattern code for anything and have the deployment grenade in hand, you can drop it by getting knocked down. Learned it the hard way when i got knocked down by a grange explosion in the middle of calling in bombardment. Nothing like surviving a grenade to get killed by carpet bombing xD
The first helldiver was very addictive for me. I've played it outside my house with my vita too and those moments were just incredible. Knowing people there and grinding together for new tools or weapons was a lot of fun. There's so much nostalgia seing the gameplay of this second one because I can recognize the old mechanics translated to the new perspective. I don't think I will get a ps5 soon, but I hope this sequel brings a lot of joy for the newcomers and oldones. Very happy that it seems like a very cool game!!!
Fighting the robots on the forest map was cinematic ash me and my friends were running from a tank slowly blasting it away with rockets and we got surrounded this game is a must have in my opinion
Oof yeah that jungle map with the robots really did feel like I was going to against Skynet. The devs really did a good job of differentiating the two current factions.
This game looks like the game I would play. no time for story driving games, and this looks like a game you can jump in, play an hour, have fun and still do some progress
Looks cool, but I don't think I have a dedicated group to run these types of games anymore. Always have a Friday or weekend of them playing, but then I get stuck completing the game on my own. Reminds me a bit of that early access dinosaur shooting game that was on Game Pass a couple years ago.
I've only played with randoms. If you don't like using voice comms, the pings work just fine but I have plenty of missions where we all work well together and don't say a word all game. So even if you're shy matchmaking is fun. Id trying joining lobbies manually from the map, quick game is very iffy still.
Having a lot of fun with this game, I think stamina/sprinting needs to be increased a bit if the five is going to be so weak. The acidic tanker bugs on harder difficulties take you out in one "blast" and even if you strafe and dive at the last second you usually get tagged. I also lol'd at Jake talking about testing the range on new strikes. My brother bought a new orbital strike (the barrage) and assumed it just fired on one spot. Little did I know standing on the other side of the compound that I was the blast radius and was liquified along with the building I was standing next to. We're doing our part. Would you like to know more?
