Man, I haven't been this hyped for any video game since Monster Hunter World was announced... We're almost there soldiers, hold the line!!!

I was in a mech, blasting bugs alongside 3 other teammates. We're getting overwhelmed. A massive bug joins and we are losing. My teammates die quickly. I'm getting hit. I can't beat them all on my own. I steadily withdraw while trying to enter the team respawn command before I die. I get it off just before I die, throwing the spawn marker into the crowd of bugs. I respawn alongside my team, smashing down onto the bugs and decimating their numbers. It turns the tide and we wipe out the bugs and beat the level. That's my best moment in Helldivers 1.

I'm skeptical of the human gm aspect. There would 100s of games going on at the same time, the manpower required to be able to interact and personally gm each would be enormous... I think the human gm aspect may be more broad macro aspect and less personal/individualized.

The real question is…. Will the extraction theme in 2 be more epic than the first game? The first game nailed the supreme carnage that was the extraction. It’s either your last stand or your exfiltration, with that in mind, listening to the music makes it much more extravagant; delivering liber-tea and democracy to that area/planet.

Cant wait for this game. When I first saw the world map, I got OG battlefront 2 conquest mode vibes and theyve clearly improved on that in spades. Time to see a revival of that using this recipe!

If they can integrate all of the elements of live service they were talking about, such as adjusting games on the fly from a personal level, dude I just almost can't even imagine how cool that will be.

I'm curious what system Arrowhead is actually going to have in place for them to actually act as a dungeon master, If anyone remembers the king of Zombies mode in ZombiU the player controlling the zombies had a kind of top-down screen where they could place down units. I doubt we would ever be able to use that for ourselves given the galactic map and all that but I'm still really curious on what sort of systems they have and the general layout and look of it

I really love the way the enemies just explode into blood and viscera for the bugs. The machines also just burst apart, and if you look close, you can see what looks like oil (blood) spraying from its shredded parts is just fucking awesome 👌

Regarding other games with built in "Game Master" features, the first one that comes to my mind is Alien: Isolation. That game actually has a function in the code that tracks how long it's been since you've seen the xenomorph. Essentially, it tracks the tension level. If you've hid too well, it'll start herding the bastard toward you to increase the threat and keep you stressed, and the more you lean on one kind of item to defend yourself, the less effective that item becomes.

They kinda made the Cyborg/Automaton faction a bit tamed, I am curious if they're keeping the "Red" faction themes, but if they just made them some kinda generic murder machine factory faction, they kinda killed a faction.

This game just tickles my Starship Trooper in me. Being a grunt and try to survive is always great to me. My friends and me are already hyped :)

Me and some friends are super hype for this, we loved Helldivers 1 and while we weren't the best, this kinda stuff we live for. If nothing else we're gonna try and be one squad that helps 'finish' the first campaign no matter how long it takes. If we can get to a point where a dev or some other human factor sees us and goes 'let's screw these guys' we love it xD. For Freedom! For Liberty! For Super Earth!

I have all but abandoned online multiplayer games…. But holy shit, this one here, I can’t wait to dive in with the community and paint the sands of distant planets with the insides of our enemy! For Super Earth!!!

A lot different to this game and the Left 4 dead franchise but the nemesis system from Lotr: Shadow of War was a cool instance of AI directing a game!

Only thing I'm going to hate is friendly fire, cause you know you're going to get people who just want to team kill and ruin it for people.

Never played the first but for the past month I’ve been watching nothing but holdovers 2 info already pre ordered I’m excited asf

It is basically what you'd expect IRL if you would have this whole thing, you are a grunt and you play your role in your squad, all squads combined are the whole army and everyone does their part to achieve a combined goal, win the war at all cost. But just like we, the human faction, work towards that goal, so do the other faction controlled by AI. And that leads to a feel of faction based MMO war action, like Planetside 2 for example or New World if you want. But instead of players taking part in their chosen faction battling out in PvP, we all play the human faction against the AI creature factions, PvE. And i think this is great. I like PvP based games, but i do enjoy PvE more and love games where you work on a shared goal together, especially as a bigger community via Events. And this game is not just doing special Events that unite the community for a short time, but instead sets the tone for the whole experience, and i think this is great. I'm really looking forward to see how the war map will evolve over time and how strong the community can push back the enemies and maybe even win someday, if the devs let us do it that is. xD

i agree in the way you see parallels to other games but what I am seeing here is a LOT of Starship Troopers. the Bile Titan reminds me of the big beetle bug in the first movie and the hordes of hordes of bugs. and the Propaganda too it screams like "earth federation" so thats what I love. I played many hours of the first game and was iffy on the stylistic change to it to be now a 3rd person but am excited for more carnage.

The game me and my friends have been playing lately that also relies heavily on teamwork and communication would be GTFO. We have also played alot of DRG in the past. Can't wait for this game.
