This sounds like a Sony thing not a steam thing. This is stupid af, most people do not have or want a PSN account. Companies are wussies and can't tell Sony NO first shift up with their game and the censorship and now this. Wait how does Sony have a Say they do not own the game or the company that made it.
Absolutely! People paid for the game and now with Sony moving to mandate something after people have provided their money is disgraceful and Sony should be held accountable for this anti-consumer move. I know some people have said that the requirement to link a PSN account was there initially upon booting the game before it was removed. But this only showed up "after" people had already paid their money. Plus there are those that bought the game after the requirement was removed and in countries where you can't get a PSN account.
Sony / Arrowhead still have a lot of work to do to address some of the toxic players out there and general bugs. The majority of players are great, but there are some that will kick you out of a game just before the Extraction point at the end of a mission, which can take up to 35-40mins or so. This means you receive none of the XP, samples etc. after 35-40mins of supporting them. It can be one of the most frustrating elements of the game because there's no way to address this issue or report it through the in-game reporting system. So much for a mandatory PSN account being there to protect players. As for bugs, the PS5 version of the game at least can still crash during extraction at the end of missions multiple times in a day.
Why don’t you complain about logging into Microsoft and Ubisoft and gog and every other website required to play their games? Such a weird hill to die on.
Yep loads of time in my life were had weeks with ps4 and ps5 now the psn was hacked or offline problems. So this is Bull, I got HD2 on pc , I don't use ps+ reason I don't want pay for multiplayer and bisede why ise GP rather. PC players don't need this crap or be loyal to PS, PC players always beem boundries free.
They have changed the terms of use months after the release. And what's more they sold the game to people who live in a Country without the possibility of creating a PSN account because the service doesn't exist
Sue Sony for breach of Consumer protection law Misrepresentation Breach of conduct And also International Trade Regulations (According to your country)
well what they can do as most are suggesting is to allow those users who live in those countrys not to be req to sign into PSN but then this will make a controversy cause why would i give my personall data to PS and that guy not give it?
They haven't changed anything beyond enforcing the PSN requirement.....it stated PSN was required MONTHS before the the game even came out....and the steam page for hd2 never removed the PSN requirement advisory...
I hope you got Gameguard removed as well. It doesn't get uninstalled with Helldivers if I recall so it can be a pain in the butt to get off your system.
That dude Spitz is a joke of a "community manager." Being in that position requires BASIC customer service and empathy, but instead they're mocking the players who were making valid criticisms. Maybe quit a job that requires customer interaction if you hate talking to people so much?
"The PSN account plays a critical role in protecting users" - uh... no. The only role it plays is boosting Sony's PSN monthly active user count. That's it. That's all.
@@utsavpradhan2754 Let me clarify. Nobody conscientiously looking into the situation after the aftermath of hacked accounts and information would be anxious to give Sony such personal data. Many people assume larger corporations are safe in this regard without a second thought. But anyone keeping up with the news would be cautious. Plus, PC/mobile gamers are a different breed. They love there options and freedom. They like their liberty, or the ability to choose what they want sign up for. Consoles are very limited in this regard. No one should expect a PC/mobile gamer to think like a console gamer, or vice versa. The things a console owner may take for granted because of a convenience factor, a PC/mobile gamer might abhor because of a choice factor. And just a little secret: the PC/mobile market dwarfs the console market. Console growth is stagnant. And without growth in a capitalistic society, a publicly-traded company will die. So it behooves Sony to play nice, especially in a domain where Microsoft has the advantage.
@@utsavpradhan2754 Last place Sony has nothing to do with PC and nobody on PC wants anything to do with a shady company like last place Sony stealing info and compromising the security of your PC.
I don't think the biggest issue is even that they suddenly require a PSN account. It is that they sold the game in some regions where you *cannot* get a PSN account, such as China. So no matter what those people can no longer play the game at all. They have no option. I hope Valve does what they done with Cyberpunk 2077 when it was a broken mess and allows refunds for Helldivers 2 at any point, at least for the people in those regions.
Indeed. I have always preferred PlayStation over other consoles due to the games. But these days they are pissing me off more than during the arrogant days of early PS3. At least they started their course correction before now. But it is almost 4 years into the generation and I see no signs yet of them course correcting. It is only getting worse. Makes me glad to be PC focused now instead. *If* I ever get a console again it will be either the Switch successor, Xbox or both. I am very reluctant to get a PS5 unless Sony changes. Good games are not worth it if the company makes it a hassle to play them. They seem to be moving away from making the type of games I want anyway and relying on third parties for them, if at all.
8:20 " hope we can make the game experience better instead " how am i supposed to experience this " better game experience " if i cant even play the game that i bought anymore since PSN does not support my country.
Remember 2018 sony excuse for not allowing crossplay, lets PROTECT the children🤔 then documents shown Sony charging developers for crossplay to support & PROTECT psn revenue!!💰💰💰 That word is now becoming there favourite tune......
The issue is, there was nowhere in the game itself that mentioned it was a requirement. And on PlayStation's own sites, it said "PSN is optional for games". Now, people who purchased the game in places where PSN isn't available, because that does exist. And besides... there was good will around not needing the account. You'd think for 3 months of good will, they'd be like "Hey.. maybe we should relax that, the community would like that". But nope, Sony doesn't know how to respect their consumers. So if Sony wants to force me into things, I will tell them to screw off. Edit: And Sony better not even think about forcing PS+ to play Helldivers. That will be the death of the game on PC.
It's already dying. Sony needs to reverse this. I'm not gonna support PlayStation for taking Helldivers II away from players that don't have access to a PSN account.
Main difference between MS and EA is that they still allow you to access the game. If they do require it, it's for free to play games. This is different. People bought the game at full price and will no longer be able to access it because they don't want to create a PSN account or they simply can't create one in the country they are in. Sony seems to be stepping on it's feet lately and facepllanting. They had a good thing going with HellDivers 2. This move is just moronic.
@@mikeh4818 That's not the point. Every PC owner has a Microsoft account that uses Windows. Including countries where there are no PSN accounts. So, for those countries with no PSN account accessibility they will not be able to play Helldivers II even though they were playing it previously. And a PSN account was obviously not needed and was optional.
@@carolinagamer2874 Arrowhead stated today that people in countries without PSN will still be able to play. And Not every PC has windows, the vast majority, yes. It's the same concept though. You have to link your account with steam. Also, PSN doesn't ask for your Credit Card nor your address. You could literally lie about your actual name and you would be fine. PC people just being whiney bitches. Pretty much every major publisher does this
With *both* Sony *AND* PlayStation's history of security breaches, why would they ever use _security_ as the motivating factor for signing up? I will _never_ trust Sony or Playstation with my private information. It's the main reason I haven't owned a PlayStation console since the PS2. I love that PlayStation is now being forced to deal with a segment of gamers who aren't interested in letting them do whatever they want to do.
Funny how Sony released the game under legal documentation that it would be optional to have a psn account and, as a result, detailed the game on steam in regions they were fully aware they did not operate in. After a few months, when the money was made, it was mandated to have a psn account. I smell an international lawsuit.
My concern is strictly for regions who can't access PSN. Otherwise, requiring login to PSN on a PlayStation game seems no brainer to me. Minecraft does use your Microsoft account as do other games. Even BG3 has its own account too.
I spent the last nine years on the PS4 and considering the amount of times that got hacked… and having a PS5 for Christmas which I chose not to accept and give it to my niece. Why would you honestly have a trust Sony? I deleted my PSN. I would never return to Sony. I’ll stick with PC and Xbox not saying they’re perfect, but they’re a lot more reliable than Sony.
This breaches consumer law and has breached the terms of service I agreed to. I will be contacting my local ombudsman here in Australia. We have zero tolerance here.
Storm in tea cup. Steam concurrent numbers are the same. Daniel Ahmed said most of the review bombing came from people who didn't buy the game on steam. Stolen keys. You'll all be signing in the xboxs network on playstation soon enough. Hard news Destin
My problem over this whole Helldivers 2 situation is the fact that Sony knew this day would come, and they would be kicking out players all over the world, ever since launch. How they are able to sell a game to a country who is not able to access PSN doesn't make a lick of sense to me. Steam needs to have a talk with these publishers. Steam knew this would happen too. These companies aren't stupid, and knew exactly what they were doing, and knew people were going to be upset, while also not caring about the backlash. They want gamers to cry themselves to sleep, and this whole thing will blow over. It sucks. In my opinion, I think that if you sell a video game on Steam, and your game is listed that requires an additional account, locked to certain countries, then the only customers who live in a region where an account is accessible, should be shown the game as purchasable. If you do not live in an area where a game requires an account that is unassible, then Steam should block the game from being purchased. I'd even go a step further, and ban the game from even being seen in countries where there is no possible way for the purchaser to play the game. Steam isn't stupid either, and I think they were ready to issue refunds the day the game launched. This needs to stop. Dont sell a game in another country that they know is going to be pulled. Even the devs knew this would be refund day. Don't feel bad for nobody in this industry, because tactics that are used are figured out way in advance. Did Sony, Arrowhead, and Steam think it would be this bad, with the ratings tanking this much, probably not. Which is a good sign, and is a wakeup call, to a degree... They were probably hoping the steam rating would drop to 75%-80%, and then increase back to 90% over time. Not down to 50%. But, this time customers who purchased the game spoke up, and deservingly so. I think it's fantastic, and that more people should speak up. Sony's stocks are going to tank and it's all their fault. They want more control and they got a massive straight karate kick in the balls, when they were expecting just a normal kick to the balls. Regardless, this whole thing is a non issue for Sony. Sony, are cold blooded guys. If the game tanks, it ain't no big deal to them. It's crazy to say this, but I'd go so far as to say that sometimes these companies enjoy the negative news. It's disgusting, but I'll bet many at Sony think its funny seeing people explode over a video game. Why? Because they have many other games in the works, that will make up for the loses. The greed, the tactics used for sales, while wanting more control, is beyond our imagination. They plan this stuff out for years in advance, and they even plan out game releases they know will flop, and allocating the right resources accordingly, to still profit. Game companies can't lose, because they've got many other games in the oven, that they know will make up for previous loses. Vote with your wallets guys! You don't need to play every game you see, or need to care about any game you see. Save your money! Wait for only good titles. Disregard game reviews, and watch a game on Twitch. Most importantly, be patient. You do not need to buy a game on day 1. Wait for sales. I'm sure you've all got a backlog of games you haven't even played yet, so play them. The less people buy games, the high quality of games we'll eventually get. It takes time. Cheers yall!
You blew it, you had it all and you blew it lol. But jokes aside this is not good whatsoever especially when you realize that sony has been hacked more than you can count.
Somebody brought me to the light I knew about the hacks but I wasn't thinking about that and this time he is 100% right and I'm completely wrong now I do agree with people not being forced to sign up for PSN
No one is being charged anything some people complaining are absolutely insane but a lot of the complaints about not having PSN in their countries are valid
Its bullshit, for the simple fact that they allow Steam players from regions with no access to PSN to purchase the game. They even retcon their stance about PSN account requirement for PC game. If it was going to be like this from the start, the Steam Releases should also be restricted according PSN coverage. Even the OG Helldivers 1 didn't require this. This is them salivating at the PSN account number that could be added for their fiscal report.
Game breached terms of service it also breaches consumer law in my country. I will request a refund and be contacting my local ombudsman. Australia does not tolerate this stuff. Zero tolerance
i will not play until my fellow divers in countries that are not supported by PSN are allowed to play without dodging the playstation ToS. ridiculous c-suite decision here.
Some loudmouthed, pretentious people are yelling "cLaSs AcTiOn LaWsUiT iNcOmInG!!!!11!1". They super love doing that whenever some new drama shit hits the fan. But I never see anyone actually follow through with that. I bet Sony has enough lawyers to know what they're doing. So I guess those very vocal kiddos will continue screaming into the void with no action ever being taken.
@@bobhawkins9598Everyone on PC already has a MS account for Windows. Issue is nobody wants anything to do with Sony on PC when they have no security or refund policy and have been found guilty of stealing info already. 👶🏻👣👍
Why are you lying? You need a Microsoft account to play Sea of Thieves. And you also need a Microsoft account to play Sea of Thieves on PlayStation. So....yeah.
@@bobhawkins9598 You were told at launch before you bought it that you need a Microsoft account or Xbox account for those Xbox games lol. Microsoft didn't let people buy it then make it mandatory or be banned months later. The major issue here is there are people who played Helldivers II since launch that don't have access to a PSN account. So now they can't play a game they bought after the 30th. It was optional and now it's not. Sony lied and should be held accountable.
@@CrashBashL Everyone on PC already has a MS account for Windows. Difference is nobody on PC wants anything to do with a shady company like Sony stealing data.
It's fine to require these things, if it's clear to the user that they cannot play without an account and they are still within a refund window. To require this after the game has been out for about 2 months is ridiculous. It should have been a requirement day one, and not something that's forced upon the user because the publisher now wants to do it.
what people should be more conserned is that they get can a hold of data they are not allowed to have and (ie playing another game) and you say or do something Sony doesn't, like well they can ban you from HS2 and then issue a VAC ban to Steam and word it to where you lose you account...that should also be a big concern..
@@TheDude8008S not me I refuse to make an account and also why should I pay to play multiplayer in a closed garden? There was a really good Tik Tok about everyone was okay for having to make accounts for other games, Xbox, Ubisoft, Rockstar, EA, but when Playstation did it, OH NO!
Putsode of those who live in countries or areas that has access to PSN, I don't see how this is a real problem. At the same time, I play on all platforms, so this is nothing to me. Hell, I actually *prefer* to have all of my accounts linked. I think it's rather cool that I can game on my Xbox and see that a friend is playing a game on PC, or that I can play on PC and see a friend of mine playing on Xbox. Wish I could add my PSN to that as well. 🤷🏾♂️
The only problem I have with the whole thing is the folks not being able to make a psn account in certain regions. If they can allow them to continue playing without that than cool. I get folks don’t want to make a psn account but feel like a lot of games do that at this point. Ghost of Tsushima will be next on pc for legends mode being required.
@@alekjanowski9847 I get that and it’s unfortunate but your buying a game off steam and using a psn account that’s it. Nobody doesn’t need to interact PlayStation at all. ***New Major Order*** arrowhead needs leverage on sony and for that reason orderd to Dorp Hellbombs on steam reviews so if you own a copy of HD2 on steam bombs away do your Part for Democracy #freehelldivers #freestellarblade
The problem is that statement isn't good enough since they knowingly sold it in countries where they don't offer PSN so soon those people will have no means at all to play the game. yet Sony took their money knowing they'd later pull the rug out from under those people.
There are countries where people bought this game through Steam that don't have access to a PSN account. They cannot create the account that is mandatory to play a game they bought at launch. Because they were told it's optional smh.
@@carolinagamer2874 Yes, agreed. BUT it is NO LONGER OPTIONAL. That I fear is the policy Sony are adopting going forward. So, SONY now have a problem, especially for those who cannot or do not have access to a PSN account for whatever reason. Sometimes Companies pull the STUPIDEST SHIT to make a buck!!
The community managers caused this more than anything. Had they just said that Arrowhead did not have a choice due to Sony, this story would not have blown up. However, when the community managers were jerks, THEY fed the fever....Arrowhead should apologize and fire them and now Sony needs to backtrack or Helldivers 2 might fail.
Yea I’m not playing now and I was excited to do so on my first ever PC build. ❤ Yes the information is on the Steam page but PSN has never been secure. No thank you. Sony are just tossing that goodwill out the window and watching it fall down into a ditch as it ultimately flows down a river never to be seen again😅 All in all I think they’re doing this to pump up subscriber numbers which of course is for $$ sigh.
Everyone saying what about Microsoft requiring an account?! Clearly, you don't understand that Xbox games rely on servers and APIs that utilize Microsoft authentication protocols. That's why we need an account. But what happened with hell divers is different. The game worked on Steam without a PSN account. They went oh of their way to make it work this way rather than Microsoft who's system and games require a Microsoft account.
I understand the anger. PSN isn't available in every country that Steam is. If PSN isn't in your country you got screwed out of your money. I don't want to link my Steam account to a service that gets hacked all the time.
Agree with nearly everything however except one. You mentioned bungie, and bungie is an independent subsidiary. They are partnered but not completely owned by PlayStation. That said PlayStation because of that can’t add the requirement to destiny. Just don’t appreciate fear mongering around my favorite game when they are still (mostly) independent.
The problem is that statement isn't good enough since they knowingly sold it in countries where they don't offer PSN so soon those people will have no means at all to play the game. yet Sony took their money knowing they'd later pull the rug out from under those people.
"I heard that Xbox does it" "I haven't been able to verify that" - A true modern journalist! Sticking to verified facts is so boring and costs clicks. Clicks are all that matters.
Well im done. I guess its too late for a refund at this point though. Well it was fun while it lasted. Wonder if this could open them uo to a lawsuit? Get everyone to buy your game then months later force them to deal with this crap or you cant play. Im not getting a playstation account. I havent had one for years and dont plan on it. Honestly its shit like this that turns me off of ever buying another console in general.

Sony just used Helldivers to establish dominance over all other gaming platforms 😂. It’s all about the money people sorry for those who are affected by region.
Basic common sense will tell you!!! This is all due to competition against Microsoft's Xbox Gamepass, which continues to remain dominant against sony's psn membership...Typically speaking!!!
I skipped PS5 this generation because I don't like Sony and its practices. I refuse to suppose Sony at this point. There has always been a thing with sony from constant Hacks, Re RE REEE masters, allowing users to change their gamertag after 10 years but if you do, you lose access to your games, their entire relationship with indies, the 3 tiers of their subscription service, the removal of the sony collection that people got from buying PS5, the never ending censoring of eastern content, the constant pushing of woke liberal stuff, and now enforcing 3rd party monitoring after the fact. (those are just off the top of my head) LEGIT couldn't care less for sony, they have an monopoly and western anime publishing and now trying to buy paramount and god knows what they are going to do with that. The way their going, looks like i'll skip PS6 too.
This is not the only game I play on PlayStation the game ask to make an account on battle net is overwatch 2 Ubisoft to play rainbow six and other that require multi platform is this bad they should stop making cross platform games
Microsoft/xbox, ea and ubisoft do require a login to their accounts... which is why I dont play their games anymore. Well that and a couple other reasons as well.
Yup got us real good. On unrelated note TOS and EULA changes are grounds for refunds outside 2h policy. Really profitable catch especially prior to quaterly report. I saw potatoes with higher IQ then whoever makes is sitting in Soyny board.
Oh look. Now Destin Come Lately wants to talk about Helldivers. Where were you before when all the news was coming out about this game? That's right, no where. Classic IGN, only cover the news when it aligns with my views. And don't bother replying, with your "bro what are you talking about?" You always bounce out of the convo after that.
