Phil has said Time and time again. He wants xbox games to be played by more players and that Xbox games will be available everywhere players are enjoying their games. If it’s on PC, Nintendo, Xbox, Cloud and PlayStation. Business is 5x fold
The only time Sony will port their exclusive games on Xbox is only when Playstation is in the same situation as Xbox. Losing generation after generation. If Xbox was number one, they would NOT be doing this. That's my opinion.
I would think that is common sense but also making software is WAYYYYY more profitable than making hardware should be common sense LOL. If they can sell all their subscriptions and games to sony, nintendo and PC users and save all the R&D on making systems (often at a loss) that will be a very smart move. Netflix didn't get rich from selling TVs after all.
It's a bit more complex than that. Sony definitely has less reason to port to Xbox than the reverse, but fact is.. there's more money in multiplatform releases.
So... what should they do, stay with the losing recipe as more b s rumors keep coming out to sink the brand as the entire base panics & demands answers? In other words, just stay stagnant and go down slowly while the crew jumps ship? They're doing what they can - it will bring success to Xbox while being able to offer consoles that make them very little
Or if Xbox console is at least showing growth. Start porting for a console that is only selling few million units until it’s end of life is not gonna happen
@@Unvers3d That's why Phil was saying they are still a business & they'll either tread water or go under if they do nothing to make their money back from the ABK deal.
It shows how things have changed "We're a business" This used it to mean having exclusives to bring people into your console system. Now it means maximizing profit by releasing games everywhere.
This is why Xbox is losing so bad. They care more about profits then making amazing games. Phil Spencer doesn't believe in exclusive games can sell console which is so wrong and out of touch. I remember buying my first Xbox console is because of halo, Forza motorsport 1, fable etc..
What, you think Sony won't do the same in a heartbeat? Big revenue, lowest profit in years. Sony's gonna reconsider their stance once they realize more potential customers = more potential sales. Unless you want Sony to raise prices of games to 100$ or more. The only way exclusives make sense going forwards is to milk your fans for all they're worth.
Exclusives are becoming bad for business for AAA games. Sony is even struggling to make money back on 300+ million dollars in development and marketing costs for their AAA games. Nintendo is probably the only company right able to keep exclusives because their console and software sales are always out performing Playstation and Xbox.
@@AzielaceTTV Ya it's amazing how they keep ignoring that even PS has started porting to PC for income. They're having problems too but they have the luxury of generations of being better than Xb & more console sales but less game sales - and now, no games. And lets not forget, the PS players don't turn on Sony every 5 minutes either. Oh and gamesmedea supports them too - that makes things alot nicer
I don’t care if the games are released on other platforms but please fight for 3rd party parity, not releasing Wu-Kong and other third party titles on same date as PS5 is totally unacceptable.
If you think about it, the same thing is going on with Xbox games on the PlayStation. At least at this point. Indiana Jones is not going to hit until June of next year, at least. If Microsofts keeps up releasing their games at a later date… On PlayStation, I don’t really see an issue. Because we are getting games six months or longer before PlayStation. We are getting them free(technically $18 a month) via GamePass and because there’s a 6 month gap… we will probably be getting any DLC long before PlayStation will. I think the delay with WuKong is simply a Microsoft policy one, with day and date S and X releases. Had Microsoft simply kept the memory amount the same across both consoles, this wouldn’t have been an issue. But, as it is, it forces developers to do extra work, in order for their games to fit in both memory footprints. While it isn’t the case in most games, I think there are some developers that just don’t have the manpower to stretch across three consoles. Which is essentially what they are doing with the S, X and PlayStation.
@@MeltWithU except that it tends to be a bit more frequent to xbox side. Like now Phantom Blade has not an official xbox release. While there is one for the PS5. And there are different publisher that tend to prioritise Sony more. For all the strategy i fail to really see the real benefits for xbox. I.mean bad marketing, Not clear communication Later releases of games. And now porting their games to the ps5. While their making money they also making difficult for their hardware to actually be sold. As for gamepass sure they making numbers. But people won't really care once they get bore out of it. In my country is xbox basically non existent, even in stores.
Don't quote me on this but i'm pretty sure a lot of games skip Xbox because of the Series S parity. Remember what happened to BG3? I think this was also what happened with Wu-Kong.
@@frankcouper9377 Yeah requiring games to run on the series S is stupid and has hamstrung series X. At this point they really need to just say "This only runs off series X, series S version maybe to come later" or to use cloud for the series S version
Phil used to run around telling the xbox community that he is a gamer just like them, he sold that whole narrative, now his narrative is "were a business". That was his way of telling the xbox community that he's no longer their friend.
@joes4987 no, it isn't. He still is a gamer and wants the games devision to prosper and that means increasing profits by any means necessary...you forget that along with that 69 bil they gave him to secure studios that would produce big games he was promoted to the head of window's gaming division which includes pc, and mobile games...he wants to secure his job and show some improvements in revenue...otherwise, they may ask him to step down...he has to treat it like a business because it is. Otherwise, the suits at Microsoft may end up selling or shutting down a lot of those acquired studios... and phil along with them.
One thing lost in the conversation is the meaning of Xbox, if there are no exclusives to that platform its not a platform and at that point they should stop calling them Xbox games, they are Microsoft games.
Exactly agreed. And I wish there was a way to class action then sue for the money that they made off of Series purchases. If it's going to go back to a two-party gaming landscape then that's fine but they should be sued to return the funding that Xbox supporters paid for these consoles.
That makes no sense the console is supported and that's the only thing they are required to do support that platform. They are not obligated on making games exclusive.
@@dapperfan44 Totally agree and what i don't get is why doesn't FTC have a problem Sony and Nintendo having exclusives but they have a problem with Microsoft ? Something is not right here and it's not fair imo....
Sure it backfired. If Sony would have bought them, they wouldn't even be an Xbox business right now. You guys don't make any sense. The reason Microsoft bought Activision is because Sony was buying up everything left and right. Duh How many times do we got to go over the same thing. Microsoft problem now is not sony, is that the brand is falling apart and they can't sell boxes. They don't really have a choice but to put these bigger game especially with licenses on playstation. On the other side of the coin, look at bungie.... An absolute disaster.
@rikki3950 Good point 👉 👈 👇 🤔 Can't really argue with you there. Microsoft needs excluses. Otherwise, they will destroy the Xbox since we will have no reason to buy the Xbox.. I honestly don't know how Microsoft is running its gaming business. It's a mess..
I don't like this "case by case" style answer. I prefer an honest answer like: "the Xbox hardware business is no longer our main focal point. We will continue to offer an option based on consumer interest but moving forward we will refocus our efforts on publishing our software and services across multiple endpoints". Very straightforward and a message that empowers consumers to make informed decisions. Clearly development decisions are not made on a case by case basis.
That would result in a masss exodus from the console and a shitstorm from their hardcore players base. This is called “grooming”. They are slowly making most people accept it because its not happening at once and its misleading most of the time. Most of the hardcore playerbase is on a “toxic relationship” with Phil and their xboxes and this is just a Way to soften the blow for Them while getting What they want
I agree I miss the straight forward approach. MS did it when they stated add games are coming to PC day one from (put the date here). At this time Sony was giving a bit of water down response on one had “a whole slate of games” on the other “case by case basis”. Sadly this is are corporations, they often do not want to announce change upfront.
They're killing their console for short-term game sales. How are they going to sell game pass when their console growth and game pass growth has stagnated, no other platform holders want game pass, and steam dominates the pc market? Have they even thought things through?
This, Between Steam and there other competitors like Epic, GOG, and other publishers having their own systems/stores. Microsoft basicly has NO chance of regaining marketshare in the gaming space on there own Windows platform. Not only that, but even Windows itself has been slowly slipping away from gamers the better Valve makes Linux work for gaming, which when working right is more lightweight/faster then Windows, and Valve is seaming close to releasing and giving the option of SteamOS on at least more devices soon like the ROG Ally which would be imo a big bump in FPS in many games compared to windows once the benchmarks show up, that it may make more people switch. Windows still wins in compatibility... but not by much anymore...
It's clear that the Xbox brand is finding a better market in software publishing/hosting than in hardware. That's always been their bread and butter after all, looking at Windows. And it's not like any of this is surprising, the Xbox team has been moving away from hardware exclusivity since last gen. The fact that they made sure to put every Xbox game on Windows 10 as well was an early sign that they had more faith in their software division than their hardware division.
Phil Spencer: "We're a business." Translation: We lack self respect as a company and have no qualms how we make our money. Simply make good quality games and people will buy your hardware. How hard is that?
Phil Spencer: M̶a̶k̶e̶s̶ Buys Quality Games Xbox fans: We're leaving the console because other console gets quality games that Phil bought. You can't make this up.
If sea of thieves was number one on Playstation then it was a great game that nobody bought a xbox for. They all bought it when it came to Playstation. So the build better games thing is pretty much dead.
lol. Yeah cuz Activision and blizzard were only exclusive to PlayStation before they were bought by Microsoft….lmao. Those studios were making ports for both consoles. So no, Microsoft didn’t do anything heroic for gamers by purchasing those studios. 😂 The reality is that Xbox thought it would have a huge fanbase behind them by purchasing those studios, without realizing that at no moment had they gained peoples trust by investing on quality titles, they did the opposite for 10 years straight. So now they need to backtrack on exclusivity and start sharing their games.
My two cents is as a person who is old enough to have played video games on an Atari 2600 to Xbox Series X this is another example of people who don’t understand the video game customers making moves. Forever I was a PlayStation guy. I had the one and two. I was so dedicated that I took my PlayStation on deployments. Then I saw the advertisement for KOTOR and I wanted to play that game but it was on Xbox and I had never heard of them. I told my wife and for Father’s Day she bought me my first Xbox. I stayed with Xbox through the red ring of death years. The we have no decent game years of Xbox One to the we have the most powerful console on the market but no games that actually use the hardware available years of the Series X. Now I’m supposed to stay with a brand (cause at the end of the day despite what Phil Spencer thinks, that’s what Xbox is) for a game that I know is going to be on PlayStation and will continue to be developed in a way that doesn’t take advantage of the hardware available with the current Xbox console because it wouldn’t be cost-effective to develop a game that uses one consoles capabilities over another. And while I don’t want this comment to go on too long, I would say that I understand they have to recoup the cost of purchasing companies like Bethesda and Activision, It’s moves like this that become the double edge sword that is cutting Microsoft right now. If you focus on games that are exclusive to your brand, you can never recoup the amount of money you spent on purchasing large developers like Activision, but you also take away the incentive of playing games on an Xbox or even subscribing to Game Pass. I have no desire to play on a PC, especially considering the cost and the constant updating you would have to do to said PC in order to play games in the future. I guess loyalty to a brand is an outdated concept and I guess I am too.
OK, someone who gets me. I also grew up with a 2600 and we bought an XBox for KOTOR. I just wish MS had let the console players have just a couple of years of feeling great about having an Xbox. In any case, don't worry about upgrading your PC. If you want to play a PC game but don't have the hardware, GEForce Now is a thing.
"and the constant updating you would have to do to said PC in order to play games in the future" THE MOST IGNORANT STATEMENT OF 2024. You are definitely a console gamer. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@PSYCHOV3N0M guy I’ve built PC probably longer than you have been alive. If you are a person who builds PC (and you might be) you know they’re like tattoos, addictive and you always want the latest and greatest hardware. I gotta say that if you disagree with someone, just offer a counterpoint or some constructive criticism. Calling someone ignorant, 😆 in all caps is unnecessary. We don’t know each other and what we do or can do as far as tech or life in general. And FYI young man, consoles are how all of this got started. Long before PC’s were a thing we had Atari and the OG Nintendo in houses. Very few people had a green screen PC with word based dungeon crawler games. Good day, Sir.
@@PSYCHOV3N0MHe's not ignorant. He's absolutely correct. If your GPU and shit is not upgraded regularly you will not be playing the latest games with High or Ultra settings. Now because you use so mediocre rig you think you represent PC gaming when you don't. If you want a high-quality experience on PC will get ready to spend your $3,000 on a good GPU. That's not even including your CPU and RAM, NVME SSDs etc which also need to be top-notch if possible. Now if you just going to use some garage PC to play on low settings then yeah you don't need to upgrade.
Except for all the PC games that never go to console. PC has the most "exclusives" by far. Take your PS5 PRO money and buy or upgrade your gaming PC. Your money will be much better spent than buying a "pro" version of a console on the tail end of life.
Then don't say "Indiana Jones not coming to p- o never mind, I can smell that sweet, sweet cash!" Don't lie to consumers if you want to be an open, fully third-party business, Phil!
MS fiscal year ended after that statement was made in March. And I think it's clear, MS and the board pretty much gave Phil a target revenue number that they could never reach just selling to current Xbox owners. He pretty much has no choice, because he's having to produce at a level for profit that they can't hit otherwise.
@@thanerosno he definitely lied. He said the game wasn’t coming when it was CLEARLY already in development. I don’t care if they bring everything to everything, but they’ve been shooting themselves in the foot and contradicting themselves for years
I respect you, Destin, for not censoring comments on your channel. No matter the view. Big props for that. And in regards to Xbox, I think we all need to just accept that Xbox is on the way out, and that final step will depend on how well Indiana Jones sells on PS5.
Why would he censor comments with conflicting views that's nothing but pure engagement metrics for his channel If you haven't caught on destins entire channel is based on pandering to Xbox fanboys and arguments in the comments that's what keeps his channel going
Like I’ve been saying for the past 8 years. The moment they started promising exclusives at each e3 and never delivering on their promises pretty much demonstrated that quality exclusives just was never their main focus and when gamepass dropped that was the end of any quality titles for their platform. Cuz they rather have quantity over quality. It’s just unfortunate that Xbox fans don’t want to see the obvious clues that buying out more studios doesn’t guarantee quality, which is why Xbox sells are still down despite their merger. Which is why they porting their games to other consoles.
If they do a hybrid console/PC with steam capabilities I'll be interested. Just give us an external disc drive option so us legacy owners can play our old disc based games.
He's said many times (as has Nadella) "we don't like exclusives." Why are people surprised we are now here. They are a business, and you know where their games will sell the most - everywhere.
Except the problem is Nadella said less than a year ago that he doesn't like exclusives BUT he realizes that Xbox has to do them because Sony and Nintendo do them. E.g. if Sony and Nintendo didn't have exclusives, then Microsoft wouldn't want exclusives either. Thing is, Microsoft has now decided, actually exclusives aren't important at all, even though the competition is still doing them.
- Many Xbox fans are still in denial - many are uninformed or don't care - Phil Spencer is a politician that sends mixed messaging - Xbox community like Destin, Colt Eastwood etc.. Are on purpose or unwittingly Microsoft's PR and corporate bootlickers.
I'm so indifferent. I play all the games I want to play day 1 on Gamepass. I don't care if people on other consoles can buy it 1 year, 6 months or day 1.
What you’re all missing is the question asked six months ago was: “Is Starfield or Indiana Jones one of the four games?” He said they were not. One of the four. Never said they wouldn’t put them on PlayStation.
No we aren't missing that. All the Xbots crawled out of the woodwork saying that it was only going to be 4 and that those titles weren't included. Objective people knew that contingent on sales, more games would go over and some of those would be flagship IPs.
On surface level it was a scummy thing to do. He knew what he was saying making people think that Indi was going to be exclusive to get those console sales.
11 bucks says phil will either quit or get fired by the end of next year...phil was given free reign and a boat load of money to acquire studios and the corporate suits want to see a return on their investment.
Which is why they’ve become a service. And why they’re porting their games to other platforms. That’s good revenue for them, so no they’re not gonna lose any money by doing that. The only people that are upset are the Xbox fans because they don’t understand that phill and Microsoft overall doesn’t care about quality games, they care about quantity. And if cod can bring in the same amount of money despite being low quality than so be it. This is why gamepass was the downfall of Xbox overall.
@johnsilver6316 i disagree in that they don't care about quality. If they didn't, then they wouldn't have invested the 69 bil. to acquire those major studios and opted to just license their games...investors may be satisfied for the time being if they aren't losing their money but if a game is making more money on another platform then there would be no point in continuing to invest in the hardware of your preferred platform...(by the way, i am a Microsoft investor, and I do get to listen in on the financial calls).... i do agree that gamepass's current model is xbox's biggest enemy...xbox was under the impression that monthly subscribers would produce big dollar numbers, which it has BUT it's hurting their install base for their hardware...they should have never offered day 1 releases and kept it as a library of past titles and maybe offer the new titles 1 or 2 months later...word of mouth from current players would then push subscriptions while the game is still relatively new.... xbox just needs to be more strict with their offerings. Including limiting pc's for several months as well, like sony does with their games who then find a resurgence on pc. (i bought 2 playstation games on pc which i never played before cause i don't buy playstations at all, so that says something right there)... setting limitations has worked very well for nintendo through several generations. I'm sure xbox is rethinking their strategy for the next generation, and they won't be so open about their exclusive games anymore.
I guess the big question is what does the basement for Xbox console sales look like? Of the 28 million they have sold, how many would have been bought if this had been known to be the plan from day one?
Good point, they haven't sold well anyway my guess is probably half of what they have sold, I think they have really let there die hard fans down, people who have spend lots of money now it doesn't matter you can play our games on ps lol
Very big mistake imo. Exclusives as much as you like or hate them incentives consumers to pick a platform. You need a balance of great triple AAA 1st party titles and plenty of 3rd party titles in harmony. Historically, this has happened many times.
Gamepass will never be enticing when you realize what it actually represents Gamepass is the most anti consumer thing to come into existence anything that takes away the only say we have as consumers and gives it too the execs at the company is in no way pro consumer Fyi cost has nothing to do with pro/anti consumer , were the consumer we decide if the price is worth it for us if it's not they have to lower It there's nothing anti consumer about that it's literally all determined by the consumer but something like gamepass shifts developer focus from appealing to us to appealing to execs for that gamepass paycheck THATS ANTI CONSUMER when you pay for gamepass all your supporting is the Xbox execs and what they decide should be part of that library , can't have a say when you pay months in advance on empty promises Think further than "duhhh cheap" and youl soon start to realize just how detrimental gamepass is to the industry for the consumer
They could do a staggered release to increase overall engagement with the Xbox platform. Exclusives come to the Xbox console and Xbox store for PC first. At the 1 month mark, the game comes to steam and other PC storefronts. At the 6 month mark, the game comes to PlayStation and the switch. Xbox still has the exclusives and overall higher sales in the long run.
If Xbox is just a business, now I ask a question as a consumer... Microsoft is getting more revenue, but what does that mean for Xbox consumers? Did Microsoft spend this money to make FF7 and 16 appear on Xbox - no. Did they spend this money to fight Sony's purchase of rights to exclusivity of games from third-party publishers - no. As an Xbox consumer I got nothing. Therefore, it would be logical to switch to a competitor's platform that is trying to satisfy its costumers. Sorry for bad English
Some of you don't get it. Xbox is a BUSINESS first and foremost. If it's not making dollars, it's not making sense. Now, the manner in which it was said sucked a major donkey there is more than just xbox in this. Don't forget DISNEY is involved as well l. And they TRULY don't care about you.
Its making lots of money but to win the competition it has to be number one. There has to be constant growth in profits.. thats how business world works. It already makes billions in a year but they want to make dozen more billions. We live in a capitalistic world... nothing is enough. If they would one dsy say, we reach the goal, we are good to stand here it would mean stagnation and investors running away. Gamers should just focus on playing games and stop worrying anything else. There is more than enough cames for everyone to play with or without exclusives.
Agreed. That's pretty easy to accomplish being that MS owns Windows and most Steam games require Windows. It's already happening on the down low with GeForce Now and Xbox app on Meta Quest headsets.
If you want a console with Windows OS on it, then just get a PC. They're already out there. Consoles still need the simplicity. Everything should still be an app. A Steam app, an Epic app, etc. That's what the majority are used to and want.
For some reason Destin and others act like MS could invent some incredible new thing as a 'console with Windows on it', but that already exists, as many have already pointed out. They are not going to invent an open console. They are just going to abandon the console business.
This is a double-edged sword because a mass majority of people that own an xbox are sub to gamepass. Xbox is literally telling people their is no reason to own an xbox. So what's going to happen? People are going to switch over to Playstation. Last I checked, you can't access gamepass on Playstation. People will unsub from gamepass because the box that was a gateway to gamepass just isn't worth buying anymore
Not as simple as that. Go from low(ish) monthly payments to $70 per title? If Netflix switched to a pay to own model for complete seasons, would it be an easy switch for people if each show was like $30
They’re a business first and foremost. Exclusives are not as important anymore. Engagement is King. Play on what you like with the knowledge of what you’re getting out of the deal. You like PS? Play PS and wait for a game whenever. You want Microsoft games day 1 and enjoy Game Pass? Play PC/Xbox/Whatever access that works for you. It’s not that deep.
Nintendo is a business too but they make their platform DESIRABLE by having games you can ONLY PLAY THERE. MS and Phil are liars I’m so over this platform.
It's just good for the consumer that Xbox put some of their games on PS. IMO that doesn't mean Xbox as a console is bad to own. I personally can't wait for the next Xbox to be announced so i can preorder it.
Funny thing about the cloud gaming is that we have to ask the question "who really benefits?" I keep coming back to the winner being 99% the corporations. They would love to fully control what and when we can play what we play, save money on manufacturing, and controll the pricing as there is no physical. The only benefits for users would be ability to play on any device and not having to install content? Super interesting topic.
@@ShreddApprentice23But lazy ass sheeple will eventually buy into cloud, Gen Z & Gen alpha & hell some of the younger millennials will not take a stance on anything.
Because that is what Microsoft is heading towards all services and subscriptions. Xbox needs to be broken away from Microsoft,. Because it should be clear to every Xbox fan by now Xbox is irrelevant to Microsoft. Otherwise we're just going to continue to have painful but useless discussion every year until the invevitable.
I think that this is the time when Xbox is about to become an open market console just like the steam deck but for your living room. If Steam and the epic game store does come to the next Xbox console then yep definitely confirmation that the Xbox is going to be competing with the steam deck and the Rog Ally.
Stfu and play your pc then. Not everyone wants to go tweak their settings every 5 seconds to get a game to run properly. Some of us want to just click and play.
@Destin Have you confronted your past self regarding the Xbox platform strategy shift? Specifically I’m referring to your mindset in the slew of videos you put out during the ABK purchase season. It was all about ‘having tons of exclusive content to pump into gamepass’ back then-a night and day difference to how you’re approaching the reality of Xbox post-ABK. How do you rationalize your views during that time, since it was clearly never part of their agenda?
He's pandering to Xbox fanboys they are not his views it's what ever he thinks that fanbase wants to hear that's why it's so easy for him to flip flop on his views He praises exclusivity when it's Xbox bashes it when it's PlayStation now Xbox are giving up exclusives it's exclusives bad again How people can blatantly be pandered too and still follow someone is so backwards
Yeah that's only because it benefits you though. Like how your people harassed the fuck out of Xbox players for years to beg for the games to be released on PC. You all stand to gain when nearly every Xbox and PlayStation game is released on PC. So don't try to act humanitarian. People always become humanitarian when they stand to profit.
they will continue to make them, once every 7-8 years, microsoft got the money they could careless. sony however in a very shit position lol, I just dont see the reason ppl will be buying a ps6 any time soon. there just no fucking games or exclusive that will drive u to get it on day one. we all knew the exclusive they got was on timer any ways, a years or two later all will be on pc with all the dlc included.
I'm fine with this and feels like this would kill the whole console war if they just let people who want to buy games buy them and those who want to rent use game pass. Seems like a sound new business model to me
The normies who aren’t hardcore like my girlfriend just don’t care about any of this. She has an Xbox because it was what she always had and won’t be changing that.
Majority of people around the world are PlayStation players and will continue to follow suit each generation. Problem Xbox got is they are not PlayStation in terms of numbers and things they are doing aren’t going to make people jump ship to Xbox console .
Exactly it's just brand loyalty... Game loyalty usually goes to PlayStation... Every Xbox friend I have all say the same thing they are used to the joypad
Wow. Most Xbox users left the Xbox because it was focused on GamePass at the detriment of actually being a console that sold games. Xbox s has a very low user base and more then half of its new customers have no idea the platform use to be better with the Xbox360. GamePass is not going to save Xbox and its not attracting new gamers, Xbox sales are pretty much done in EU and Asia. Playstation won't allow GP on their console, so Microsoft can only sell games instead on it If people really wanted GamePass they'd be flocking to Xbox consoles, but at only ~28 million user base compared to PS5 55 million and Switch 138 million. So no, GamePass is not as appealing as Microsoft tries to make it out to be, it can't even get many PC gamers interested in it. Only real place other place GamePass might be appealing is with mobile gamers. I'm willing to bet that will crash as mobile gamers either don't care for AAA games or already have consoles. Microsoft is basically snuffing the 24 year old Xbox platform for the sake of trying to go Netflix.

Well of course it would if your platform has sold less than half of the competition , the difference being Sony can let Xbox die off they have a large user base of players who buy games Xbox has a small user base of users who don't buy games so badly that they had to make it a subscription just to get any money out of you guys , but that's they fault for making games that they users have no interest in buying it's been all mismanagement for years
If the next Xbox is a «standard» console that runs Xbox games only, but «all» games go to PC and PS, I will for sure skip it and only buy a PlayStation. If it is open and supports steam ++, I will buy it day one.
Turns out not getting £70 per game sale is bad for business! Wow, couldn't have seen that one coming by everyone predicting Gamepass was unsustainable.... It's just really funny XBox needs Playstation sales to be sustainable. And let's not pretend they didn't want to be a platform for exclusives just like Playstation. They didn't buy all those devs for no reason. It's just they've realised all their first party games are complete wank, so have had to go multi-plat just to make money.
I think it’s more that they realize they can make a lot more money than what they were by going multiplat, but also Microsoft business side is fumbling so hard
You dont understand anything about business. They dont need play station, they want to make maximum profits anyways they can. Sony need Xbox because it has no relevant First Party games coming.
@@om58499 1 game. Wolverine in 2 years. Very sadly little. Xbox has huge list of First party games on making, they can afford to make few of them multiplatform since they are leaders on game development now.
People like to say that if Microsoft would just focus on 1st party exclusives they'd be able to lock down their franchises and console sales would be great and we could all party like it's 2009! Let's try to remember, Xbox *Did* Hit the industry with both barrels when they released the Xbox One with Sunset Overdrive, Ryse Son of Rome, Quantum Break, Recore, Halo 4, Gears 4, Halo Wars 2... And it was a disaster. The fact is, trying to build their own steam-like infrastructure and go multi platform is a good business move.
nope, Starfield was not really developed to PS5 before the merge. Simply because merge happened way too early in the development cycle. As for Indiana Jones, it is hard to say.
@@vensakarakorwien5768 Not true. One of the things they inspired the merger was Sony was close to a deal for timed exclusivity of Starfield. They had definitely started development on the game. It would make sense that it was further into development than IJ would have been considering it came out more than a year B4 IJ even after being delayed.
To understand Phil and Microsoft better and decode their language, watch the recent Act Man interview with Marty O'Donnell. He paints a pretty clear picture of how Microsoft operates and what they try to do to their studios, how much they value their creative talent vs their executive "talent", and the internal games that they play. Seriously, it's a fantastic interview and it will make you understand why Marty will NEVER work for Xbox/Microsoft, or with Microsoft executives (which enlighteningly includes Destiny apparently), again. He doesn't say it, but it's quite obvious after listening.
Here's what Sony is going to do: They're going to enjoy their 30% cut of any Xbox game Microsoft sells on the PlayStation Store and use it to secure more third party exclusives.
Your Xbox friends can play helldiver's 2 it's called buy a PC or a PlayStation Stop begging for ports already it's pathetic I don't care if Xbox games come to PlayStation unless they actually good games I'm not gonna play them anyway 🤷♂️ I have a PC and the only game I've bought from the Microsoft store is sunset overdrive been no reason to use the Microsoft store on PC for years now
@@maisondav1dit is for the bottom line. My use of the term “favor” is only a figure of speech; however, doesn’t change the fact that I play Sea of Thieves with my PlayStation friend, now. With that being said, I want PlayStation to shoot Helldivers Xbox’s way so I can enjoy that game with them as well.
So many people are focused on the console. I think this is interesting bc GamePass is now the only value prop for the Xbox console. In a few generations, the console will be obsolete anyway. When internet speeds get good enough, we’ll just be streaming games. The subscription is the new platform, regardless of console or PC.
Gamepass is the most anti consumer thing to come into existence anything that takes away the only say we have as consumers and gives it too the execs at the company is in no way pro consumer Fyi cost has nothing to do with pro/anti consumer , were the consumer we decide if the price is worth it for us if it's not they have to lower It there's nothing anti consumer about that it's literally all determined by the consumer but something like gamepass shifts developer focus from appealing to us to appealing to execs for that gamepass paycheck THATS ANTI CONSUMER when you pay for gamepass all your supporting is the Xbox execs and what they decide should be part of that library , can't have a say when you pay months in advance on empty promises Think further than "duhhh cheap" and youl soon start to realize just how detrimental gamepass is to the industry for the consumer
You hear that xbox fanboys????? Phil spencer said it loud and clear…… WE’RE A FUCKING BUSINESS!!!!!! That means they don’t care about your feelings or your stupid console war. THEY ARE TRYNA RUN A BUSINESS!!!!!
That's why it makes sense to drop the HW and save money on R&D and the HW team, all of which are losing money and focus on being a mega publisher and what they are supposedly good at, which is SOFTWARE and not a console that has been losing money for 23 years, since they 1st launch. They don't have limitless pockets, contrary to what fanboys believe and I'm glad Phil admits they are a business and profits matter.
We went from "sales don't matter because of GP" & "only where GP exists" to we need to sell elsewhere because we're a business. ABK changed everything and ppl cheered for it including Destin lol.
I personally don't care if Phil Spencer never said that these games was not going to come to PlayStation he said the first four something like that I'm paraphrasing but he never said that these games was not going to go to PlayStation
Phil is out to make money. The more platforms they have their games on, the more money they reap. Whilst the playstation tatic, is to only have games on ONE platform. - Yes, I know Playstation is branching out to PC, but PS players hate that, and you know why...
Sony dont have any relevant First Party games on making. So it has nothing to put except old games, which are all going for pc and through steam later on to Xbox too.
@@RottieGuy1980 compare. And no they dont. This year only Concord 🙄 and Astrobot. Next year earliest Wolverine. So, freaking little. Xbox has huge road map full of them, they can afford to make few of them multiplatform sinse its good for business. Its not charity.
@@susanna8612 I didn't say anything about this year, I said in development, but they do have a bunch of first party games in development, what do you think their first parties have been doing??? 3 or 4 have games getting close, and MS isn't letting a few games go, this is just the start, they sent too much money to not sell most games elsewhere, they have shareholders to answer to and Nadella doesn't care about childish console wars, you are the one who seems to not understand business
To be fair games are getting too expensive now. Microsoft doesn't want to fall in the same holes as Sony and companies like Square Enix by limiting their sales on one system. Games like Spider-man 2, Final Fantasy Rebirth and Final Fantasy XVI wasn't giving them any profit. Having every game being released on every system is a win - win for companies who make most of their money through software, subscriptions, micro-transactions and gamers who can play the games they want on the system they want. The only people who lose are fanboys which is a win.
While this is true, PlayStation makes most of their money from third party games cut like cod, fornite and microtransaction. If there were no exclusives, how do you draw someone to your platforms so that they can spend on mtx.
Not really its never win win, brands need identity, sometimes even playing ps2 games on pc using an emulator just doesnt feel the same as playing on ps2, so its a 2 way sword, personaly bringing console games to pc is fine but console to console ports sound weird, sports games/ indie/ cod type titles are fine but story games lke god of war/ mario/ gears of war sound weird on other platforms, because just the mention of those games screams the brand, its infinitely weird for me to see mario on ps or halo on ps its like eating a pizza when taking a dump.
You know you're making excuses for a company thats worth over 3 Trillion dollars RIGHT?!??😳If it wasn't for MSFT behind EX-BOX they would of folded a long time ago so you making a stupid statement like that is showing your fanboy ism.👀
I am always an Xbox player, and i will keep buying their hardware as long as i have gamepass and get the games there. Let everyone pay $70 for the same games i get for a monthly fee. And also those games will be $100 soon.
I hate exclusivity. I think the majority of actual gamers want to buy a game and play it on whatever device they want! Most of the people who think this is bad are console warrior types who just can't help but to try and constantly one up the opposing side to their platform of choice.
Most people hate how it's a one-way Street. Xbox is giving all of its games away but PlayStation is putting none of their games on the Xbox and if they do put a game on Xbox they are forced kicking and screaming to do so like MLB?
Why is it so hard to grasp that this is a good idea? Avowed, Doom Dark Ages and more will probably take the same route.. but 6 Months before the jump? At what? 70? 80? Dollars? I guarantee you that the majority of people who are impatient can't wait if these games review well and suddenly this turns into advertisment and people buy an xbox because they just cant wait. This will probably be too much for people to mentally comprehend..

You are all the same people who say Nintendo and Sony are perfectly fine keeping their exclusives. As soon as it’s Xbox it some how not okay for them to have any exclusives. You people might be the most brainless people I’ve ever interacted with.
Take this up with uncle Phil. As a ps gamer, I didnt ask for xbox games. They were handed to me on a golden platter by uncle phil himself. He said "PS, you are the Apple of console gaming. Don't worry about the feelings of cheap chinese phones aka xbox gamers" and with that, he handed me the platter and left.
Console fanboy gamers are weird. Not normal console gamers but the fanboys they are not the same. As a PC gamer my view is this there is nothing so special about console hardware or the games their studios create that it can't run on the other hardware with the exception of Nintendo because of power availability. These console manufacturers are just publishers who make their own hardware and that's it.
People don't seem to get what Phil Spencer is actually saying. Xbox is going to be around but it's basically going to be a "Steam Deck" but for your living room at this point. The next Xbox will probably play "Steam", the "Epic Games" and everything basically an open-market console just like the "Steam Deck", and the "ROG ALLY". I wouldn't be surprised if PlayStation Plus appeared there for cloud gaming on the Next Xbox. An open market console will have far more games than any single platform and will provide more options for gamers without the need to buy a PC, 32,000+ Games from P.C-CONSOLE-CLOUD.
@EmperorOfMan Not fully. A PC supports 1000s of hardware configurations. Were a hybrid console will most likely have more controlled configurations that are less likely to cause issues. Even if you can upgrade it the hardware will still be from Xbox not 3rd partys.
@@EmperorOfMan if it makes it more accessible for people who want a console in your living room to play PC games then I guess this might be the one. I guess.
If Xbox decides to release all of their games on PlayStation, then the question remains of what exactly is the point of owning an Xbox? If they want to survive in the console market then they need to have something that Sony doesn't have. I think a hybrid console/PC that's able to play all games including Sony's is the only way to go. Microsoft has the technology and means to make such a box, but then Sony will probably have an issue with that and try to file a lawsuit like they did with ABK. If Microsoft wins that lawsuit then Sony may stop releasing on PC. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Thats just a PC. If they let you buy from any store they can;t subsidize the hardware. You will not be paying 500-600 for that. You will be paying actual price
@@EmperorOfMan essentially a PC but not entirely, because you wouldn't be able to update the hardware. You'll basically be stuck with what you get just like a console, and the components would be similar to a console using an SOC instead of a separate CPU and GPU. And yeah, it likely will be more expensive than the current gen consoles but no more than $800 I would imagine.
Sony doesn't let you play their exclusives Day 1 with PS Ultimate. Xbox has Game Pass Ultimate Day 1 games. That's a pretty big difference that doesn't seem to get brought up enough. I guess that's because "influencers" don't have to buy games. They get free codes. I own both PS5 & Xbox and I play most games on Xbox because I don't have to lay out 70 bucks a pop. Currently all I'm playing on my PS5 is Fallout 76 (an Xbox game :)

I don’t know if someone dropped a stupid pill in the water. But a lot of people just don’t seem to get it. This is not about Xbox vs PlayStation. This is about Sony and Microsoft who are business partners by the way. Sony’s strategy requires them to sell more consoles. Microsoft’s strategy has always been to share their products with their partners. The end game is all about money. Always has been. Both have their strategies to do it but it seems that some of you think you know better and want to call out one company for having a certain business model over the other. It’s the dumbest discussion to have in gaming when everyone should know by now what’s been happening.
Reaching here, but what if this lack of exclusivity by Xbox is a strategy to share their games, then next Xbox they have Steam access and PlayStation is less likely to block Xbox’s access to PlayStation games -because of how many games Xbox has shared.
