Been listening to this when doing the new Major Order missions on Meridia on Helldivers 2. It fits with the utter chaos of fighting bugs on the supercolony. Gets me hyped!
HD2 leans too much into the 'Starship Troopers knockoff' aspect of Helldivers for me, and its most noticeable with the music. A lot of the HD1 tracks still have that Arrowhead flair that makes them unique. 2 just feels like any other sci-fi soundtrack to me. In short: I miss Lindgrenswe as the composer at Arrowhead
Also just compare the promotional images too, the feel is much more different, second game has them standing triumphantly on top of the rubble, first has them in the pits of hell surrounded and out numbered
I loved guiding low level players through the harder bug levels with the paragon rifle. Just tagging the charging brood mothers as they are about to get someone. You could feel the gratitude.
I hear you. I've dropped on level 13+ missions where noob divers are all still getting crushed all at once inside a vehicle like a can of sardines. Vehicles and Exos only give you a false sense of security at those difficulties. It's either that or they're all literally pulling in different directions as they panic and even shoot eachother far more than the enemy shoots them XD.
@@midnightgamer4181 Fires in 3 round burst and slows non armored targets. Can shoot extremely fast for high single target damage, but it has a small clip size and shreds through ammo. Might have the worst ammo economy in the game. It's great with backup weapons since it helps crowd control while you switch weapons or reload.
@@midnightgamer4181 Paragon can burn ammo faster. Can 3 round burst almost as fast as you can pull the trigger, but in practice yes patriot will normally be worse with ammo.
when you remake a classic game, get rid of the annoying parts (The camera locking players together) and give them more of what they loved and let word of mouth share the word you get a mass influx of people more then the game can handle
Cyborg *does* have its own level of adrenaline, but I feel like that music is designed to keep you focused, rather than overwhelm your senses like the bugs (and rightly so) music does. Bugs music *should* make you feel like you're constantly at threat of being overwhelmed, that's what the bugs are best at - overwhelming you with sheer numbers and tenacity. Illuminate music has a more heroic feel than anything, not sure if that fits the faction, at least the ost's sounds used fit the sci-fi theme.
Deep Rock Galactic is taking a position like that as well. It’s got some humor littered throughout but on higher difficulties you take that shit seriously. Rock and Stone, miners.
Nothing like muting Helldivers 2 music to play the 1st game's OST instead, and I do love some of Helldivers 2 OST. Just not as much as the original, especially for how much it gets played.
I like how the music reflects which enemy you are facing like how the is more somber because even though they are labeled as aliens the cyborgs are still mostly human, and the Iluminates music is more heroic as a display of their power and the Bugs music is mostly chaotic because every bug except for the Hive lord have no higher thinking power and just work of of their labels and commands
Last magazine expended your down to your pistol, nervous and afraid of whats about to happen you start to call in a resupply when it hits you, they want you to resupply, because frankly it doesnt matter, you're alone, not them, the ammo hits the ground with a thud, but the music continues, you pick up all the ammo as soon as you can. As you reach down for your second ammo can all of a sudden the ground rumbles durt flying everywhere and bam, you're surrounded and eaten
This one gives me space PTSD.. ... Noooo don't all bunch up! Spread out! Pick up those damn EATs and aim for the center! Move already, mooove or the impalers will tear you to shreds! Keep firing, here comes more! ... oh no, they're dead, they're ALL DEAD .... I must call in the reinforcements before they get to me too or we're done for..!
Him: how about we do difficulty 11? Me: I never went above 7. Him: (convinces me) Me: for protocoll: You asked for it and I told you so. The missions were pyrrhic victories where we still won but took 10+ casualties.
you know it's a good OST when in the comments of all three planet soundtracks people claim it to be the best of the three. Personal favorite is cyborgs but the whole game slaps.
All 3 bug fight songs are so good i cant decide which one i like the most they just feel like 3 pieces of the same song and that would be a sick ass song
yeah, i had just reinstalled it to try to get back into it and i was so damn rusty i couldnt even pull out the stratagem menu, but thats the first song i heard.
Never play helldriver 1 but if any difficulty above 9 come to Helldriver 2, I wish there will be this kind of song mix with hymns and have difficulty name call "Exterminate the planet" that would be amazing
In helldivers 1 there were a couple difficulties past helldive difficulty added in a later update. The hardest difficulty was called " the inner circle of hell"
Вот этой музыки не хватало на одной БЫВШЕЙ планете, как раз в тему тот ужас который там пришлось пережить перед тем как мы её превратили в чёрную дыру🫐
well, I normalised the volume from the original and increased the overall volume level to avoide it being too quiet. back in the days, when I uploaded this, there were quite a few videos with SD, including music. It sounds weird today in the age of 8K content, but it wasn't always like that...
me every time this song plays: our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven give us this day, our daily bread etc etc....
people who cope about HD1 soundtrack being better than 2‘s i disagree. HD2 is supposed to show the horrors of war and it does that well with making the OST sound horrific, it adds tension to the experience.
I don’t get that impression, personally. I don’t dislike HD2’s soundtrack but I feel a lot more tension from Bugs difficulty 9, and especially Cyborgs diff 9
i actually feel like it's the other way around, (and to parrot some other comments i saw earlier,) HD1 music and vibe seems a lot more focused on the "horrors of war" aspect you mentioned via. its promotional art and the music being much more tense i don't think most people who say that think that the second game's music is bad by any means, it's just that the second game's music feels more like cinematic heroism as opposed to the first'd militaristic heroism - and i'm inclined to agree, i always felt like the music would better fit a movie than a situation i'm actively trying to immerse myself in
Ah yes, "horrors of war" without actual horrors said war. You, HD2 divers, still have no idea how bad it can get. You think Malevelon Creek was bad? How about waking up after good sleep, to find out, that half of the galaxy fall under control of bugs with illuinates from diferrent front already prepared to begin the siege of Super Earth? You, guys, will never find out what it feels like being one last downed helldiver, about to get trampled by charging Behemoth, with, just barely clutched, reinforcement beacon . This is the theme FOR horrors of war as it can possibly be.
