If i had a dime every time a wife came on the show for her alcoholic husband; i would be a millionaire by now, Korea has a deep seeded alcohol problem which is not even recognise. These people need AA groups and genuine counselling. My heart goes out to all the wives affected by this issue.

hephburn what is even more bizzare how he manages to go to work. its paffling. one think that stand out in koreans is that when they meet someone for the first time they ask how strong drinker they are. and somehow they all look perfect from outside. in europe people who drink that much have very rough look, bad skin and teeth and eventually they lose job and home. but these koreans look normal which is mystery.

hephburn right, same in the U.S Most heavy drinkers over here cannot continue to function through life and you can tell by how they look that they have issues with alcohol. Like hair teeth and skin.

Their alcohol culture is insane. I get it if they drink once in a while, but if I drank alcohol more than 10 times a year, I'd say it's too much. Yet people in South Korea find it acceptable to drink 3 times a week?

The thing about drinking alcohol is that you should make sure to not get dehydrated, not drink on an empty stomach, and to spread out the drinking. If you're thirsty, drink some water, alcohol will only make it worse. Bad drinkers don't. Most people are bad drinkers, but as long as they can handle themselves well, I'm not really going to care about it.

Filtered off worms? Not sure what you're talking about, because that's far from what alcohol is. Still, I don't know why people drink. My parents barely drink alcohol, and I barely drink alcohol, so I guess that has something to do with it. You learn from your surroundings, but I've been in a surrounding where alcohol isn't really present.

iam so worried about these kids growing up around alcohol, seeing their parents wasted and the argue battle between their parents. kids shouldnt be exposed to any drugs. these kids are crying and in pain. my heart goes to these kids.

Why is the last dude so eager to get a girlfriend when he's only like.21? He shouldn't just date anyone because they're female, but actually wait until he founds someone he likes. plus what girl is gonna want to date a guy that has been in a date with basically all the girls in their vicinity? They're obviously gonna think he's a playboy or something. He should just focus on being happy alone and not obsessing over having a girlfriend.

The last dude, don't worry. You're only two years older than me (if he's using his korean age). There are people my age who have never even gone on dates before (aka me xD). Just be patient and surround yourself with people who haven't dated many people either. Hope things work out well for you!

It's really difficult to listen to the first concern as someone who grew up with a selfish alcoholic father. The situation is all too familiar. His confidence and adoration of himself even though he's clearly a piece of shit is also familiar. Him and people like him treat others as if we have no feelings. He clearly considers himself the only one who's fully human in that house, everyone else is just an afterthought. I was severely affected by my father's alcoholism and his children will be too. I hope she will have the resources to fully leave in the future. That's torture, not life.

Also, can't edit so I'll just reply. Him saying that he didn't know his family was so stressed out is a goddamn lie. They ALL know, they just don't care. Just the fact that he's still lying is incredible. There's no future for that family. You can't have a future with someone who always puts himself first, even at the severe detriment of his family.

I don't know if I just have a different view on marriage, but I don't understand why these women (and sometimes men) stay with their partners for so long. Like I get that divorce is a big thing and a last resort but many of the men say they'll change and never do. Why don't they just divorce them. The second man and first man were just mind blowingly selfish, why someone would stay with them is beyond me.

Cuz the older generation still have a mindset of not leaving each other even though they don't like each other anymore. They mainly do it because they don't want their children to have divorced parents but it's also looked down on by other people which is a pretty big deal in some asian cultures.

It's actually not that easy. A divorce itself is quite costly and you have to prepare for a lot of paperwork and stuff. You need a new apartment and earn enough money to be able to stand on your own feed - and the wifes who usually take the children are in the need to support them. I do share your opinion but I also think that sometimes it might be more convenient for the woman to stay where she is.

The guy in the last concern needs to just relax and slow down on his girlfriend hunt. I'm pretty sure the girls he dated were not interested in him. Also, why the rush? He's only 21 y.o. Are dating, kissing and holding hands very essential to survive? I don't think so. Sometimes I just don't get some people that really are thirsty for a girlfriend/boyfriend. Just chill and be patient. Your only one will come to you sooner or later.

Yeah when a guy starts asking you what are you doing, did you eat, etc. 5 minutes after meeting you for the first time it's a little creepy. Plus, he's hunting for a girlfriend just so he can kiss and hug and do stuff like his friends. He needs to actually find someone he likes and try dating her rather than meeting up with 100+ women a year.

Too many Koreans come on Annyeong with alcohol problems and the wives usually have to endure so much heartache and pain from the husbands because it's taking too much time & focus away from their family life, kids etc at home. It's very sad and annoying. Someone needs to come to realization that alcoholism is a serious issue in Korea that needs to be addressed appropriately. Korea's drinking culture may be linked to a multitude of situations such as stress from work and or depression because of overall daily society, fears of failure etc.

At my job I get at least two customers A DAY telling that I should get a glass of wjne, take a few shots, smoke, when I finish my shift. So my lil old job with how much stress it is I can kind of understand what would drive one to becoming a heavy drinker

my co-worker and I would stop by a bar to get a couple of drinks to get a little buzz before heading home after a very stressful day at work. If you drink enough on a daily basis, you do build a higher alcohol tolerance. The only thing that prevents me from drinking a lot of alcohol is the calories in them.

I think the parenting is a big problem in korea. yes, it's truly frustrating seeing those problematic husbands, men. But to narrow down those problems, the major struggling is that mostly man( some women) don't think their weird obsessions, or certain habits causes really big trouble to other people like family, wife, kids, friends, colleges... how could a person so into it's own world, and really insist and stubborn on it? it feels like they are only living for their obsession, that is actually a scary reality! they're not only suffocating others, but themselves are also victims of anxiety, obsession! I think korean should really have an alert on that！don't be stubborn on an old idea which will stuck them in Vicious cycle. they should actively engaging to change the situation. instead of push and test people's nerves until the struggles turn into serious trouble. A TV show like" Hello, counselor" will do just a little help on each case they can approach to, but they don't have that much power to change entire situation.... People are just too passive, lazy and not being responsible in resolving their problem.

No offense but whenever there are drinking problems, I don't think they realize how hard it can actually be to quit and that they need to be checked daily. It is very easy for people to relapse at any day even if they had stayed sober for years.

i love the drunk guy's kids, particularly the one with the orange shirt he's adorable and smart. i wish his fam the best. i know it's been a couple months since so i wonder how they've been. And the kid in the last concern...he's cute but way too obsessive to find a gf. It's not like he's looking for a girl b/c he likes her, but he just wants "experience". Plus it's a turn off that he's met more than 100. =_= Once this guy asked me out bc he was eager to date too (i'd witnessed him asking other girls right in front of me!) but i turned him down. i felt bad about it but i really shouldn't have felt that bad bc it doesn't make sense to ask out someone u barely have talked to or know all random! i think that desperation isn't appealing. girls see it. it should be bc ur LIKED or they LIKE u a lot that u should date, not bc ur just interested in the dating _process_

peko peko One, that comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously, Two, I don't know. Anybody can turn into a shitty dad and husband at any given time, in the future. If I truly believed my "blanket statement" about terrible male parents/spouses in Asia I wouldn't be a fan of Taejoon or ANY male married Asian in for that matter. 😒 I'm not dumb enough to think that an entire continent only produces terrible males. ok i had to comment after watch the first two concerns. wth is wrong with these husbands?!?They are self fish and are in no shape to be the head of the family. The two wives need to divorce them and move on with their lives. They deserve better and it honestly sounds like they have checked out of the relationship emotionally a while ago....

This be true but also because the amount of alcohol people consume makes pregnancies hard as well.
