Some fun little info on this build: The house's layout changes each time you progress on the basement door The neighbor's AI changes with each layout change and becomes more dynamic The prototype house can actually be found in the files of the pre alpha This is the only build where the neighbor can actually "hear" items drop or being thrown You can beartrap the neighbor in this build if you place a beartrap down
i genuinely need to see someone replace the full game with the alpha houses. maybe have it like this: Alpha 2 House, Prototype house (Or Alpha 1 House), and then the Pre-Alpha house but with all of the floors.
House variations were goated, the neighbour adapted to your actions in more ways than just adding bear traps and cameras. It was also really unnerving slowly see the house layout get more and more demented the more times you get caught, it was as if the neighbour was getting more and more insane the more you tried to invade his house.
I fully agree, once I did the tv strategy twice in a row, the first time it worked, but the second time, he ignored the tv and went to the backdoor since he knew I would enter the house through that entrance, he predicted my actions, it's almost scary how smart the neighbor was in the pre-alpha.
I always wondered why not a singe fangame was able to capture that magic the alpha builds before alpha 2 had.I do not know why, but this is how it is. I am having dreams about a completed alpha 1 & pre-alpha houses being in-game.
I loved the stuff about the pre release content in this series and the entire retrospective itself was really good. Hope more videos similar to this get made.
13:09 Well the game has 3 ambiences 1. Inside: Means you're not inside the house 2. Near: Means you're are inside the house 3. Nearby: Means the neighbor is suspicious and is looking for you
This games atmosphere is scary with cool and interestingly weird things that didn't make it to the final cut like the big neighbor when you sleep a lot of times and the fascinating prototype build with lots of fan games it was a great start to show off the game with one floor and how you lore him away to go in another place and the Spanish TV and remember the video where you first saw him and said what the heck is that mario was that lugi that was lugi. It cool see people reactions to that jumpscare and me getting scared too it being unexpected the times when hello neighbor was scary.
9:44 Its not a "chance", everytime you start the game, the nightmare will happen after 8 respawns total (aka death or sleep). This includes the red basement layout at the beginning.
i enjoy when people talk about how the earlier versions were better because they were, but when this game said it was a “horror” game, the final release didnt really have horror to it anymore, the pre alpha and prototype and the first look had the horror to it, take the pre alpha, its ambient was more frightening and freaky music would start to play as the neighbor is right next to you, and on top of that his ai was much more smarter and got so smart where the game is so hard and unbeatable, the neighbor gave off this, theres no escape, and the “i know your every move” even the atmosphere was scary, it was almost like gta 4 and gta 3, the sun could be shining but it still feels dark and odd, thats exactly how you could describe the pre alpha’s atmosphere, not just that, the art style as well, the art style somehow bumped up the horror in the game which was probably what caused the games sort of downfall but overall the earlier versions are much better
That’s pretty damn awesome. I always had this deja vu or “uncanny” feeling whenever watching the Announcement Trailer, as if the house in the game was one I’ve visited in real life. To this day, it reminds me of my aunt’s because of the corridors… makes sense now that I know it’s based off a real floor plan. And glad to hear you remember the ring bing carlos meme as well
@@AnomalousDucky the pre alpha and announcement trailer houses was funny to me, since every house in the neighborhood was normal and then there was a giant blue house and nobody seemed to care about it and forgot to mention as well, house_2 and house_3 background houses are also real hopefully house_1 isnt real (the house that is right across from you in alpha 2's intro)
@@eggmin Do you know where could I find those blueprints? Because maybe there will be layout of upper floors and we could consider them as official. If I am right, we would foud one of the biggest hello neighbor lost media
@@purpurowyyt347 funny thing was that I searched house blueprints in 2019 for a school project and found it. I don’t know if it pops up anymore but there is a real life physical house with the prototype layout that was meant for the second floor of the house
5:33 People say what is that shadow? Well that is the player. When the player checked the door before throwing a tomato there was a shadow on the door. Its the player's shadow.
The old kinda realistic art style was way better then newer cartoon one this guy was like actually scary instead of this cartoon villain thats more fun to mess with then anything
I think the best possible version of Hello Neighbor would be the Alpha 1 neighbor and house (with the pre-alpha exterior) with the pre-alpha's house variations, OST, and secrets
Thanks man I loved the older models of this game the announcement trailer being the peak (even if scripted) I wonder if you’ll do anything for all the concept art? If not I still appreciate this mini series of retrospectives.
