not to defend the film, but when pinhead said that it was because tiffany had zero emotional drive and was doing puzzles out of compulsion, here the desire to open the box to appease the crazy person holding the gun, is still considered desire.

Deusdaecon Reviews Ah. See, I thought that was Pinhead's way of saying that simply solving the Configuration out of being manipulated by someone else isn't enough. The manipulators are the ones who desired the Configuration solved. It is their desire that summoned the Cenobites and it is they who must pay the cost of that summoning. So now, in this film, the brother/wife duo would still be considered mere "hands" being manipulated by the main antagonist's "desire". But this does put an equally valid new light on it for me. Tiffany was merely solving the Configuration out of obsessive compulsion to solve puzzles. Not out of a desire to solve the Configuration specifically. Tiffany's hands were just doing what her hands do. The puzzle before her could've been sudoku for all she cared. Also a hole is punched in my theory because, technically, the reporter in Deader could be considered manipulated into posessing the Configuration. So wouldn't that have put her editor on the line instead of her? Oh well, guess that's why I'm not the reviewer.😛 But, to repeat what you said, these views are IN NO WAY A DEFENSE OF THIS FILM.

I mean that one was already broken as they introduced that weird "thorns" thing where he had to kill his entire family to stop a curse or something, but then they make him rape his niece to create another family member he needs to kill instead of just killing her.

I'm right there with you. Let's kick the head of Dimensonal Films in the balls and give it back to Clive Barker so he can reboot the franchise! Just because I would rather see a reboot than another sequel, even if made by Clive. That way I can keep pretending 3-10 don't exist.

for the record, you can get rid of the underwear and still NOT showing anything graphic at all, and it would still have the same effect I was talking about, the nudity wasn't the point i was trying to make.

I understand what you're angling at but the underwear was pretty plain. I think it had more to do with a combination of unwilling actresses, time constraints, low budget and lack of creativity. It looked like CUBE without the acting chops or well thought-out script.

@@deusdeaconReviews i know I'm late to this but I also think the fact that the faces of the jury have been mutilated (not quite cenobitish) but their bodies haven't adds to the point of sexy over erotic. They have been (somewhat) reduced to a body. Along with the complete lack of creativity; they could have at least given them some latex undies.

It's a good movie, but nothing can top the Pinhead imo.

The movie was honestly solid. Hellraiser 1 and 2 are my favorite movies of all time, and I honestly would maybe put the new one right below 2 in my ranking, followed by 3. Honestly hoping for a review from here, eventually!

I like gary from the interviews i've seen on youtube, especially on Mr. H's channel, but i agree that this one is even worse than Revelations. Although, i totally respect that he could get it done with 350,000. The dude is a hard worker and a a solid make-up artist. That doesn't mean mean he's a good filmmaker. He should just stick to what he's good at, terrible movie.

Barker hates this film. The tag was "from the mind of Clive Barker". Barker replied back that it "didn't even come out of my asshole".

WarPoodle 2600 the original story that Clive Barker wrote that was then made into the first Hellraiser movie was called The Hell Bound Heart so it still had the word hell in the title.

Not to mention that in the Scarlet Gospels Pinhead (the Hell Priest) fought Lucifer (the ruler of Hell).

He definitely did....but unfortunately, almost everything else about the film is incredibly derivative of other (better) movies. ☹️😕 👍🏾

ah that would be a interesting film to see reviewed. that movie I was looking forward too for quite awhile being an all practical effects movie like in the old days. however, for me anyway, it turned out to be a massive disappointment. bad writing, forgettable characters, shaky cam (seriously I HATE it when filmmakers do that). the monster designs were kinda cool I guess, when you can see them. and Lance Henrikson was good as always. overall it just wasn't what I thought it would be and it only made me appreciate films like John Carpenter's The Thing even more than I already do. but that's just me

There are things I love about Harbinger Down as well as things I hate about it! Its a shame the guys at Studio ADI got screwed over when it came to The Thing prequel. It would be great to see them do a film properly funded to see if it turns out good or not!

TurnipGoat yeah I heard about the practical effects they used for The Thing prequel and they did look good. Too bad the higher ups stepped in to CGI everything. And boy the CGI was not very good. Again tho despite my disliking of Harbinger Down credit where credit is due. When you Could see the creature effects, they did look impressive. I do hope they continue making more movies just with better writing and camerawork because it's a shame we don't see practical effects as much anymore

Agreed! I hated the whole CGI revolution when practical effects all but disappeared! Here's hoping we get some good stuff in the future from them!

same however CGI isn't necessarily the problem. it's how it's used. at the end of the day CG is just a tool and it's up to the artists, animators, filmmakers etc.. to use the CG appropriately. sadly alot of them would rather just CG everything. I feel it's best when BOTH styles of effects work in tandem with each other

TheSpawnfan Apparently, (and this came from somewhere within the 3hr interview and can only be verified by herself) she read the original script, expressed interest because it was "some weird, frwaky shit"if i can recall properly,but the movie had neither a role or the budget to fit her in. Hence a cameo. As to why she appears so high on the list in IMDB has to do with someone's popularity apparently.

She looks drunk off her ass here, and for good reason.

I don't hate the new pinhead design. An interesting change that its a combination of Pinhead and the female cenobite, personally though I would've liked something new or perhaps closer to the original idea in the novella, but ultimately as I said to someone else hellraiser regardless of studio, director, production change, has squandered the privilege of mine or anyone else's hype, ill shall wait and see but until it's out and we know for sure, I refuse to but energy into caring about it.

I was and am aware but it just seemed abit unnesecery really cause cause I pointed all this bullshit and details and things and in the script it was like "oh hes also played by the director" just something about it stood out to me as superfluous, admittedly It couldve been my writing as im not a very good writer but thats why it was removed from the the final version of the video.

@@deusdeaconReviews Fair enough I don't know I guess it felt to me like that's something you would bring up as like another example of like his arrogance and hubris that he believes himself that he was a director that but he puts himself in one of the main character roles further establishing this as his vanity project.

yeah very true, I guess because i mention his failed indiegogo and how he was the same charachter in that too, it never really clicked as something to mention cause in a way i had, I know it doesnt make sense like i said I’m a bad writer heh

Don't take this guys word for it if you like Hellraiser you might like this, it takes the franchise in a new direction and gives the movies a chance to pull themselves from the shit that was the last 5 movies or so please give this movie a chance

the scarlet gospels was barkers own reboot to the mythos and not the same canon as the hellhound heart or hell raiser from which it is based.

I dont know, I have not seen it, its not available in the uk yet, so wouldnt beable to make a video on it anyway, and im currently focusing on my degree, not say there wont be any videos in the future, but with the new hellraiser theres alot of things making it diffcult to say the least.
