Legend has it, the cause of the mega drought in California was filling up that brush truck.

When he stopped flowing at 4:18 the brush truck was out of water and they moved the line over to the engine. He wasn't flowing off the brush truck the entire video. Not to mention they also had a tanker on scene.

From an experience on call in 08 we no longer water trailers until confirmed product inside.

Looks like a classic wheel bearing fire. Notice the black rubber laid down behind the trailer. The right outside trailer wheel wasn't turning at all.

Good footage... but one question... with an observation... why wasn't anyone using their SCBA equipment? I saw one firefighter with his pack on, but no mask. Then You have one of the fire fighters take what appears to be the truck driver, and a highway patrol officer to the back of the trailer to open the back doors up. The trailer is still involved, so why introduce others to a smoke hazard?

I used to drive for this company back in 2003 and this really does not surprise me. They do not teach the drivers how to adjust trailer brakes, nor does the maintenance crew really do their due diligence to make sure that things like this happens. And because it was under that driver, they will now charge the driver $1,000 for the deductible from their insurance, even if the driver is a company driver.

Very well done! Excellent use of the limited water supply and 2 man crew of the mini pumper for a quick knockdown until the big trucks could arrive. Great job on on the hose move when the mini pumper ran out of water. Yea, Charley shouldn't have gassed himself when he opened the trailer door but, still, an extremely good job by all. Roast veggies, anyone?

Wonder how that mess was cleaned up. Sure they had to unload the trailer after the fire, since I don't think towing that trailer with a load would be wise.

GD brakes. Drives me nuts!! If compacted cargo becomes involved, we can be there for HOURS tearing that crap apart.

More then likely he had a leaking seal and his breaks got hot and the oil got with the hot brakes and Boom

I have had buses and car fires but not a semi tractor trailer , as a first responder for the ports and tunnels I can say this , is dangerous out there because you never know what this cars, buses, and rigs are transporting. stay safe guys.

When he turned off the gun they switched the line to the engine. Because you see it on the brush he stops then it goes to the engine..

The firefighter we were seeing this from, was all this water coming straight from the one truck's tanks, if so, that truck must have a really large water tank built onto it, for only being a smaller truck of the force......

It looks to me the cause of the fire was the brakes got to hot and trailor was loaded making the brakes got so hot and caught fire

First off I would say a respectable knockdown with only 200 gallons. Type 6 pump operator needs a lot of practice. @Jed Nagel, obviously you have never torn down a semi trailer on fire. 4 rural units here typically only deliver a handful of firefighters to the scene.

God imagine the smell of burning cabbage, plastic & other materials My worst call was a tanker that got into a head on accident with a fully loaded Honey Bucket Tanker Truck. Both on fire & man the smell.
