Whilst my LDL has doubled on carnivore, my blood pressure has dropped from 148/115 to 127/72. I know which i prefer and i trust my body to look after itself now that i'm not eating junk food!
Hi Maggie here .. Im almost 83.. been carnivere since 17 years of age . I only went to a doctor to birth my babies or for injuries .. still do everything I did at 20 . But Ive never had my blood tested except for when I donated blood. I'm O + and I think my blood should be of some value as they are VERY short of blood supply in Canada .. They dont want it because they say Im too OLD!!! IF I could have it tested for AGE and it was okay, maybe we could change that ridiculous notion . Just wondering..Thanks Shawn for your great podcasts .
Hi, Maggie. I think you're awesome. I'm 57, and when I grow up, I want to be just like you.😅 I think I'm just going to skip this yearly doctor stuff and only go if I really need to.
My maternal grandmother, who just turned 96 years old, had been very active before falling victim to dementia. During her younger years she always had high BP and high cholesterol even though she was very active. Go figure.
@straywolf77 I recall a paper I read a few years ago where in elderly populations all cause was no different in high blood pressure versus normal. However low blood pressure was a serious issue.
I am a lean mass hyper responder, but am happy to be off lipid Rx after 22 years. I have been eating keto diet for over three years and off statin Rx for two years/65 y/o. Now 67 y/o and doing incredibly well!
"Fruit of the Poisoned Tree" is applied to evidence in courts that violate Chain of Evidence. This applies to Statins, which are based on the Junk Science/Fraud of Ancel Keys. They are an Acute Toxin which should NEVER be used.
It is 100% dependent on 1 factor. Sugar and it's sources. High sugar(and plant defense chemicals)+ high cholesterol = heart disease. With respect, Professor Bart Kay and many Paleo Anthropologists will most certainly attest that in the absence of glucose, elevated cholesterol has absolutely no effect on cardio pathophysiology, whatsoever, in any human era. There are enormous amounts of that kind of research. It's been around for quite some time. No different than botany. We have known that all plants(yes, all of them) are poisonous, in one degree or another, for hundreds of years. I understand the trust but verify mentality, but you don't need a doctorate or a PhD to work that out. I eat plants, I get sick. I eat steak, I get better....... Whatever, could that mean?
Yeah that's just stupid. Children have died from heart attacks who had elevated LDL. So clearly there is a population that has genetic factors where cholesterol is a problem regardless of nutrition.
And were those children also consuming plants at this time of there hypercholesterolemia? Right, that is an asinine response. Someone always brings up the 1% of 1% without having a single clue about what they are talking about or the proper context of the circumstances surrounding the patient. Astonishing how little one person can understand.
If you feel better eating something it’s what you were made to eat. I eat steak and no oxylate heavy plants I feel sooo much better. Tried a dessert made with almond flour this week (very high oxylate) and my back pain and fatigue return. Not for me. Don’t trust doctors. They don’t care about you or know anything for sure. Trust your body. Verify with a CAC at time 1 and time 2. Don’t let a doc scare you into a statin though. Or talk you out of a diet that makes you feel great.
I have heard that you need cholesterol for hormones. Since going on carnivore, my test has gone up by 200 from 320 to 520 still not optimum but I feel so much better.
I just ate 38 eggs and filmed it, 10 raw 😂. Just wanted to see what it’s like to eat like a pro bodybuilder for a day. I’m getting my blood test on Monday and see the effects.
@@KaiserSoze357 I have to delay by a day. The biggest earthquake in 25 years just hit Taiwan this morning where I live. 7.4 on the Richter scale so I had to take my dog out of harms way just in case. No time to do testing till tomorrow, upload on Friday. All good otherwise!
I think people need to take control of their health, make their own decisions with as much information as possible and then take ownership of the results. Chart your path.
OMG. It's so depressing to go see a doctor nowadays. I'm 73 and my doctors are in their 20's or 30's. They say my bloodwork is good but cholesterol is too high. My BP is high every time I go to see them but It's just fine when I'm at home. They won't listen to me and keep prescribing stations. I refuse. I refuse the mammograms and the stress tests and all the other test they keep throwing at me. I've never said I was Keto/Carnivore. They treat me like a number and a bill. I am so tired of doctors. Medicare so sucks and needs to change. They want to do evaluation, cognitive test on me all the time. F$($k that crap. I feel good and so tired of the crap.

Letter About Asthma by K.P. Buteyko MD-PhD: Two hundred years ago asthma was considered a mild ailment. Having asthma generally meant having a long life free of other diseases. However, no one could explain how asthma prevented other ailments or why asthmatics lived longer than others. Today, we know that asthma is not an ordinary disease. Bronchospasm, the main component of asthma, acts as a protective mechanism, helping to maintain biological constants and important functions at near-normal levels. We have also learned that asthma or bronchospasm cannot exist unless the Carbon Dioxide (CO2) level in the lungs is abnormally low. Since the metabolic and immune systems can function correctly only if the CO2 level is normal, the limit of the asthmatic's CO2 level protects him or her and allows for a long and healthy life. It is this powerful defense mechanism that provides the asthmatic with an improved biological system. Evidently, bronchospasm is one way the organism has adapted to its environment. Modern drug treatment for asthma is aimed at neutralizing this protective mechanism. The organism then fights back again and again with more intensive bronchospasms leading to a rapid deterioration of asthma from drug treatment. It is not possible to cure asthma by removing a protective mechanism like bronchospasm. Only when the condition responsible for the bronchospasm is removed, can asthma be reversed. K.P. Buteyko once said that: To test the validity of the scientific discovery made by us almost 30 years ago, it takes 30 seconds of time: offer an asthmatic hyperventilation - he will have a suffocation attack, offer to reduce breathing - will relieve the attack. The cause of the asthma attack is hyperventilation of the lungs, no one said this before our scientific research. And so I have been asking scientists for 30 years to spend 30 seconds to check this (1986).
@@tinacox9526 Buteyko Method for Asthma: - An immediate decrease and, later, complete elimination of medication. - Increase in the CP is accompanied by normalization of immunity. - With the increased CP, allergic reactions become less severe and the number of allergens, which can provoke asthma attacks, decreases. - Improved physical endurance and improved quality of life. - Avoidance of triggers and high CPs (over 35 s 24/7) for 2-3 weeks lead to complete disappearance of allergies, the disappearance of swelling and inflammation in airways, and normalization of lungs’ tests.
@@tinacox9526 Getting Started by Peter Kolb While the Buteyko method introduced into the west has been getting excellent results, it does not entirely accord with Professor Buteyko’s recommended practice. During two weeks he spent in New Zealand in December 2000, he demonstrated the Buteyko technique as it should be practiced. Aim Firstly, it needs to be understood that breathing too much is a bad habit that leaves you with a debilitating shortage of carbon dioxide and bicarbonate. It usually results from long term, undischarged stress. Any stress makes you breathe more. If this is sustained over a long time period it becomes a habit. The physiology behind this habituation process is well understood. Buteyko therapy aims at reversing this, by habituating to less breathing. You do this by developing and sustaining a feeling of a slight shortage of air over a long time period. This gradually restores your carbon dioxide and bicarbonate levels back to normal. Maximum Pause While it is possible to stifle an asthma attack with a long and uncomfortable breath hold know as a maximum pause (MP), this procedure does not reverse your asthma and does not retrain the respiratory center to pace your breathing correctly. Professor Buteyko is emphatic that the maximum pause has no therapeutic value in restoring healthy breathing, which is the aim of his therapy. It is also dangerous for people with various disorders such as hypertension, heart disease, epilepsy, kidney disease and diabetes. It can also destabilize your breathing, making it worse. Unfortunately the maximum pause has been introduced into a westernized version of the Buteyko technique, much to the annoyance of the Professor. An understanding of the physiology behind the Bueyko method leaves no doubt that the maximum pause cannot improve your breathing. DIY/Self-help Professor Buteyko is firmly opposed to the DIY/self-help approach. The Buteyko technique relies 100% on patient compliance for effectiveness. Learning it from a script is like learning Yoga or martial arts from a book. Most people will experience changes in their bodies as their CO2 levels rise. These changes vary from one individual to another. Buteyko practitioners help you deal with these changes, keep you motivated and ensure that you do the breathing exercises correctly. Support for your Buteyko practitioner enables him to continue his work of bringing the technique to other sufferers. Nevertheless, very few people around the world have access to a Buteyko practitioner. So here are some basics to help get you started. Medication Do not make any changes to medication. Steroids must be taken as prescribed. Because of carbon dioxide shortage asthmatics often don’t make enough Cortisol (natural steroid) and must have supplements. Steroids are not just anti-inflammatories but they are needed by the body and without the right amount it can be almost impossible to get breathing back to normal. Your doctor will be able to review your need for steroids when you stop having asthma symptoms. Bronchodilators must be taken only when needed. As you progress, discuss with your doctor the possibility of weaning yourself off long acting bronchodilators and replacing them with short acting ones. That will give you more control over using them when needed. You should find that within days you will be able to overcome asthma attacks with reduced breathing and won’t need the bronchodilators. Nevertheless, you must always carry them with you for emergencies. Nose breathing Always breathe through your nose. If your nose is blocked perform the following exercise: After breathing normally (do not make any exaggerated breathing manoeuvre), hold your breath for as long as is comfortable, and then gradually resume very gentle breathing. It may help to pinch your nose, nod your head a few times or do some other form of exercise. In stubborn cases or when the blockage is due to a cold, you may have to try a few more times. To avoid breathing through your mouth in your sleep, you might like to experiment with a little light medical paper tape to keep your mouth closed. Mouth taping at night is not recommended by Professor Buteyko, but most people find it extremely valuable. If you do, protect your lips with suitable cream, use a low tack tape (some are quite aggressive), and make sure you fold a tab or handle at each end for rapid and easy removal. Do not go to sleep with tape on your mouth if this causes any form of anxiety. Comfort Make sure you’re comfortable before starting the exercises. Remove unnecessary clothing since the improved blood carbon dioxide will dilate blood vessels in the skin, thereby warming you up. Posture To get your posture right stand with your back to a wall, heels, shoulders head and bottom touching the wall. Now drop your shoulders. Keep this upper body posture when sitting. Relaxation While maintaining your posture, relax all the muscles in your chest, neck, shoulders, arms, tummy and particularly the diaphragm. It’s a good idea to tense them up a bit first before relaxing them so that you can properly identify them and make sure they are all relaxed. Normal Breathing Take off your shirt and stand in front of a full length mirror. Watch your chest and tummy for breathing movement. Make sure that your chest does not move at all, and only the upper part of the tummy moves, between navel and breast bone. The second thing to check for is that the tummy moves out with each in breath and not the other way around. Many people get this wrong. Your out-breath must be free, relaxed and unforced. Reduced breathing (RB) Your aim is to develop a feeling of slight hunger for air, sustain this over a period and do this frequently. In fact, this should become a habit so that you do it all the time until you have achieved your health goal. Try to feel your breathing and become aware of your breathing pattern. Now try to maintain this pattern while taking in just a little less air on each breath so that you develop a slight hunger for air. Initially try to sustain this for two minutes, then five and then ten. If you follow all the steps correctly, then you should feel really calm, good and even a little sleepy. If you already practice relaxation techniques, yoga etc, you can combine them with reduced breathing. Measuring your breathing Hyperventilators breathe more than normal in order to achieve lower than normal blood carbon dioxide levels. It follows that if you have to breathe more than normal, then you will also not be able to hold your breath as long as you should. Professor Buteyko has cunningly used this principle to measure your blood carbon dioxide by testing how long you can hold your breath. You start the pause somewhere in your normal breathing cycle. This is how you start the pause: Look up with your eyes and at the same time pinch your nose and start a stop watch. Just before it starts to get uncomfortable, stop the stop watch and resume normal breathing. You should be able to resume normal breathing without any effort and without taking deeper or more frequent breaths. Some precautions: - Do not take a deeper breath before the pause. - Do not make any attempt to empty the lungs before the pause. - Do not worry about which phase of the respiratory cycle you happen to be in before starting the pause. A pause is just an interruption of normal breathing. The time in seconds is called a Control Pause (CP). Asthmatics typically have a CP of 5 - 15 seconds. (But not everyone with such a low CP has asthma.) Your aim is to achieve a CP greater than 40 seconds, although for perfect health Professor Buteyko recommends a CP of at least 60 seconds. Doing a Set When at rest, correctly seated, comfortable and relaxed and after breathing normally for at least five minutes you are ready to do a set. A set consists of Pulse - CP - Reduced breathing - 3min normal breathing - Pulse - CP First measure your pulse and then do a CP. Record the results on a table. Then do reduced breathing for ten minutes. Breathe normally for three minutes, then take your pulse again and take another CP. If you’ve done your reduced breathing correctly your pulse should go down and your CP should go up. Sometimes the pulse remains the same. If it goes up you’re not doing it correctly. After three days you should be able to do around 8 to 10 sets a day. You can then start integrating reduced breathing into your daily life. Ideally you should aim at doing reduced breathing all day. That takes care of the exercises. Here are a few helpful hints to help your recovery. - Don’t eat unless you are hungry. Only eat until you have had enough. Eating increases breathing; eating excessively increases breathing excessively. - Don’t dress too warmly. Be careful not to overdress children. If you are worried about them being cold, check their ears, nose, hands and feet. If these are warm, they’re OK. - Make sure you get plenty of vigorous exercise. But don’t exercise to the point where you have to open your mouth to breathe. If any of these recommendations make you dizzy, sick, anxious or give you palpitations, stop immediately. If possible see a Buteyko practitioner.
If you have low triglycerides and high HDL then your LDL does not matter. But if you have low HDL and high triglycerides then you need to change your diet.
ok then. If you have low triglycerides (they are made by carbs and insulin) and high HDL along with your elevated LDL then you have nothing to worry about.@@nancygorham5908
Thank you for the question Vance. 1) The heart prefers ketones and fat for fuel. 2) The heart can rebuild and regenerate when there is zero inflammation from a zero inflammatory diet like carnivore. 3) If a person has low triglycerides but high HDL and LDL it means they are a Lean Mass Hyper Responder. This is totally fine and healthy. 4) Let me repeat : Low TGS, High HDL and LDL means goo metabolic health. 5) You mention "Major Heart Attack" - How was is resolved ? stents ? Bypass ? If the arteries are now clean of plaque then happy days. 6) Note : High LDL does not lead to increased risk of heart attack or CVD. It doesn't. Most doctors think otherwise but you need to look into this. Check out the worl of Dave Feldman and LMHR. 7) Carnivore is the best diet for great metabolic health and longevity. Clean carnivore.@@vancemowat7544

I think you are completely right Dr. Baker, and have also been thinking that LMHR will grow in numbers and higher LDL with Higher HDL and Low triglycerides will be very common as more go carnivore and low carb keto. You do realize that in Dave’s own studies it showes that carbs greatly reduce LdL cholesterol but I though you all believed that carbs and plants causes inflammation ☠️

Yes, my only motivation for getting a basic Lipid Panel is to check Trigs and HDL. As long as my ratio is under 1.5, my TC and LDL-c are not a concern. If an MD or family members ask about my LDL or TC, I happily tell them: "through the roof"!😝
I am not interested in the great cholesterol debate. I eat beef. I eat no plants. I feel good and many health concerns have resolved. Even though I have spent the last 9 years of my life slowly dying and deteriorating from an extremely restrictive whole foods plant based vegan diet and am now attempting to transition to carnivore, I am grateful for the mindset and will power and puritanistic conditioning the vegan diet allowed me to develop because now I can put that neurotic label reading and ethical transparent company researching towards humanely raised and humanely slaughtered grass fed, grass finished, wild caught, grain feed free, pasture raised, pesticide free, antibiotic free, and organic when possible animal foods for optimal health.
My cholesterol was high - around 325 when on SAD eating habits. Then I went to WFPBD. Whole Food Plant Base. Cholesterol dropped to 190. Plants didn't agree with me. Now I am on Carnivore for the last 30 days. Afraid to have my cholesterol checked. Will probably be off the charts 😮
I've been on carnivore for 5 years now and have not been back to any doctor since 2018 when they wanted to remove some of my parathyroid glands 🤣 After about 3 months of carnivore I felt so good that I never went back and I figure if all of my health problems went away then what do I care what some number of some measurement is when we really are still debating whether it is really an issue or not.
If you feel good and full of energy to do things doesn’t matter what your number of cholesterol is. Or just because you find out your cholesterol high you will start to consider yourself sick even feeling great?

I did very well on keto for almost a decade, but for some reason, i am responding terribly to carnivore. After the initial few days where i started to notice some lowered inflammation, i have since gained weight, ldl up, triglycerides up, bp up, a1c unchanged. Here I am, now a month later...ive cut my eggs from 5 to 3 for breakfast, cut my ground beef from about 1-1.5 lbs at dinner with salt and butter...to a lb or less, no salt, less butter. I was already supposed to be in a calorie deficit...i can see where i may have been adding in enough to make up for that in "little bit here, bite of cheese there" situations...but those snacks or sneaky bites were all still eggs, meat, or cheese. im trying to go stricter and just be lion til new years, but i cant really afford that with even 73/27 beef going for 4 bucks a lb...unless i make sure to eat at a severe deficit...but that tends to crush willpower much faster and could lead to over-snacking.
Me personally, I just eat eggs and beef, I eat 10 eggs a day and 1 lbs of organic grass fed beef with milk proteins. Eggs are cheap, why would you cut it to 3 eggs?
@@hugoanderkivi I feel like it’s so hard to eat fruit or greens because that’s not what my body is naturally craving. If I eat grass fed beef patties, I don’t crave the cauliflower or carrots on the side, and that is no where as nutritious as the beef; I think that actually ruins the meal

Triglycerides are an inflammation marker. The. Lowering is a good sign. You need to divide the triglycerides by HDL and the should be less than 1. Paul Mason has some good videos on cholesterol.
Just been listening to a farmer here in the UK who sells hus iwn meat and unpasteurised milk.b. He said a number of people who have illnesses for years and been on medication have seen it disappear since going carnivore.
I had a blood test in the UK recently and my total cholesterol result was 11.8, which converts to 456 mg/dl !! I wonder when very high actually becomes too high ...?
I went doctor the other other and got blood test done.. everything things but high cholesterol.. they said it was over 7 and should be under 5?? I got really worried. Not sure if I should be concerned or not ?
I watched Dr Odville, heartsurgeon, elaborating a lot on heartdisease and cholesterol, being himself on carnivore lifestyle. If LDL is high, just check if it is the small density LDL or the high one. Small is what causes plaque, high not. Statins work only on high particles LDL which you shouldn't lower as THAT is GOOD. Also if triglycerides and HDL have a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 it is perfect.

"I've been following a Carnivore diet for the past 7 months. When I started, I weighed 95 kg and am 63 years old. For the first 5 months, I had my meals at around 12 midday and 6 pm. I usually have cream in my coffee, about 4-5 cups a day, and every 3 weeks, I consume a few beers. However, despite my efforts, my weight remains at 95 kgs. This has led me to watch numerous videos on the Carnivore diet, but unfortunately, I am more confused than ever. It seems like anyone who knows what's happening won't share their knowledge unless you pay them, which seems unethical when they are proposing to help people. Is there anyone out there who can offer some advice? My typical meal consists of 2 x 350-gram rib eye. I have also read that I might be overeating protein."oh and I do eat some eggs bacon.
Hi first you have to realize that this is a healing way of eating not a weight loss diet. So let that go and continue on your path to Good health. Your weight will normalize when your body is done with more or most of the healing. I'm a 63 year old male and I've been eating carnivore for almost 3 years now I too drink coffee with cream in it and I generally eat one meal either for dinner and sometimes I will eat an earlier meal 3-4 hours before that in late afternoon I've also had very good success with just occasional couple of days fasting up to 3 days. For most of the first year of my carnivore journey I actually gained a little weight. Although I was already seeing some restructering of my body shape but I was picking up some weight and then after that time all of a sudden my body just switched and started losing both in my stomach and love handles but also just the subcutaneous layer that was covering my whole body. With no real effort on my part to lose weight this has continued to occur to this day I'm continuing to just slowly lean out and I wasn't in a hurry anyway it seems like this process and this timeline is also helping excess skin tighten up. Another thing to know is be aware that the cream in your coffee needs to be very clean where I live you cannot find whipping cream that does not have other crap in it like carrageen etc. Find clean, most of the additives are things you don't want to consume. I drink coffee every morning ,always with homemade cream and it's either consists of whole milk or half-and-half mixed with four egg yolks and a stick of melted butter blended together this is my creamer for the day. And then eat sometime in the late afternoon early evening ground beef , eggs ,ribeye and occasionally chicken thighs. I've stopped mostly eating pork products as they don't sit very well and neither does lamb for me. Be patient and good luck ...
Daily you’ll want to be sure to get about 1g-1.2g protein per pound of lean body mass and then add high quality animal fat to this until satiety. This will usually end up being about a 1:1 protein to fat ratio in terms of grams. Remember that 1 pound of meat has about 100g of protein. You need 10 glasses of mineral water and 3-4g of 100% unrefined seasalt a day.
For me: Medical science does not know much about heart disease. It's a work in progress. Sugar is afflictive. Hyperinsulinemia is a real problem. Meat is nutritious. My ketotic bias: I'll stick with a sugar-free, anti-inflammatory high-meat ketogenic WOE.
Great to see an honest MD talking. Yes, not sure is not sure. Though I am in the same situation wanting to find out if high LDL is actually bad or not. Many of our kind on low carb high fat diet experience this sky-high LDL condition, but all other indices are improved clearly. In my case, I had 8.8mmol/l TC with LDL 6.5mmol/l, HDL 2.0mmol/l and TGC 1 mmol/l after a couple of years' HFLC diet. GP puts me on statin. I resisted at the beginning but decided to take it later on, as I don't feel any immediate side effects from it. They said I was the kind of familial hypercholesterolemia which I am not really convinced. I have had high TC for long time, over 7mmol/l since I started checking it 15 years ago. I did a CTCA this year and my CAC score is 0. However, I do have some plaques in the coronary arteries (less than 25% blockage). I am 55 and not sure if this is considered normal condition, or indeed I already have CVD. These days, cholesterol science is clear as mud.
Doctor wants me to quit carnivore immediately and treat my LDL which is 8,2 mmol/l, HDL is 2,7 mmol/l and triglicerides 1,5 mmol/l. I am highly active heavy lifter with 8% body fat but unfortunately too low (unmeasurable) testosterone most probably linked with also unmeasurable LH and FSH which looks more like pituitary issue than cholesterol. Endocrinologist said too high LDL is is blocking HDL and that is shutting down testosterone production 🤷🏼♂️

My CAC score was 305 eleven months ago. My triglycerides were 70 and HDL was 60. But I do get periodic angina attacks. About five weeks ago I had two during the night. Not good. I'm 76. Where do I go from here? I've been keto/carnivore/ketovore for three years.
My cholesterol is over 740, HDL over 700. AIC good. Triglycerides good, weight good. I am 69 woman. Normal weight, keto/ carnivore. Dr. Wants me on statins of course. I asked her to check my thyroid numbers. I told her I will not take statins. She said fine I am not going to push it. But she is sending me to a cardiologist. Had to wear a heart monitor for two weeks. Waiting for results. I feel great. I listen to Professor Bart Kay, on his opinion about it. (Cholesterol) Apparently it is a non issue towards heart disease. Sugar, processed carbs, seed oils, smoking, alcohol use prescription drugs, genetics & how you handle stress all contribute to heart disease.
@@nealart not yet, I have appointment mid September, I think I have damage from breast cancer radiation on left side. They don’t want to believe me. I already have mild COPD, I have to go for a pulmonary test now and a chest scan. True story, my surgeon said to me before my mastectomy, he asked do you want to die from heart disease or cancer? Neither of course. But what an awful thing to say to a patient. I didn’t realize that chemo can affect the veins in a bad way.
Don't get it: I am a 50 yo person with high LDL before and now on ketogenic diet with such risk factors as familial hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia and some minor plaque has been found. So, even if I continue with ketogenic diet, the risk is too high, isn't it? The longer risk the more danger of events? So what then? Meat and fat all not the right food? Take statins and have no other choice but to lower LDL/ApoB? Or just keep going till the stroke would come?
For people who want to maintain the normal bad state of metabolic health, it is probably best to stick with the conventional medical theories. Their doctor will treat them with drugs for the rest of their life, right or wrong.
I heard that sugar and carbs needed to be eliminated from the diet...also no dairy. Some sausages and rubs/marinades have sugar in them. Also, carnivore is not just red meat...it also includes fish, chicken, and other seafoods. I am not sure about eggs if that is carnivore or not. However, don't forget the electrolytes.
Please HELP! Ketovore for 1 1/2 years. Total cholesterol 334, HDL 59, triglycerides 65, LDL 262 I did get the NMR doctor is concerned of small LDL particle number 650. My LDL particle size is 21.7 and my LDL particle number by NMR is 2450. all my other lab work was normal. Should I be concerned please help!
Here is my take on this LDL "confusion." I have metabolic syndrome, including Type 2 Diabetes. If my LDL-C is high it is because my insulin resistance is a problem. And it is the insulin resistance, with its high blood glucose and high blood insulin, that damages the lining of my coronary arteries. My high LDL, whether that be large fluffy or small dense LDL particles, has ZERO effect on (i.e. does NOT damage) my arteries. So if my LDL-C is getting high, I need to clean up my excessive carb intake and the concurrent elevation of blood INSULIN. If I just try to get my LDL-C down, with statins or PCSK9 inhibitors, that ain't going to do "squat" to minimize/stabilize my atheroscerosis because LDL particles do NOT injure/burn the coronary glycocalyx NOR endothelium. The esteemed Dr. Macolm Kendrick believes that all these scare tactics regarding high LDL-C, LDL-P, ApoB levels are just a distraction that lead us away from the root cause of CVD which is HIGH GLUCOSE and HIGH INSULIN!
Pre-diabetic so I want to go on a carnivore diet to lower my A1C and my blood sugar levels as well my cholesterol is borderline so I need to lower that as well if I go on a carnivore diet what's one simple trick that I can do to also help lower my cholesterol Love the video by the way
I'm a 64 Y/O man, 12 years retired from the Navy, low BMI forever except when over-muscled. Went from the standard American diet (SAD) I followed my whole life, with crazy wrong eating, to Keto due to some RU-vid doctor vids I found convincing. I got immediate good results I could see. I later moved to "Ketovore" just to try it. I like it, and love the results. My most recent VA annual physical exam surprised me but not the Doctor. He was used to seeing Carnivores, and asked me if I was one. He showed my a too high LDL - 194, a too high total Chol - 293, and a too high Triglyceride count - above 400. The HDL was good at 79. Worst of all was my fasting glucose and my A1C - he grinningly asked me if I had ever been or was now diabetic. I laughed and then quickly settled myself, but was genuinely amused. He was too, but only due to seeing this before - a glucose reading that fits the "standard American" - an overweight, out of shape person. All of these readings have to be re-configured to fit the new kind of energy system - the use of ketones instead of glucose for the majority of energy use. Both are still used - glucose doesnt go away. But with the body using mostly fat instead of glucose for energy, the use of Cholesterol has to go way up - thats what carries fat - triglycerides - around to all the cells that need energy! So yeah, this all has to be investigated a whole lot more. Thank goodness for those guys doing that work on LMH cases - they seem to be pioneering this vital new medical knowledge.
Triglycerides shouldn’t be that high. They are very dependent on carbs and sugar intake. It could be a transitional number if you just started but if you see that again at your next physical I’d be looking for sneaky carbs in things like sweetners and creamer. Get a glucose monitor and check every morning when you wake and perhaps a couple of times during the day to see reaction to meals. Be sure you are eating enough fat. Sometimes people eat chicken breast and other lean meat and it spikes glucose just like carbs. Look it up if that’s you. You need the fat to keep your glucose low. Triglycerides are way strange for sure. Normally see those drop over a year or less to 100 or less. HDL looks right on. Maybe you had a dessert or cheat meal within a day or two of the blood test? My trigs doubles from one thanksgiving meal with pecan pie, etc. from 100 to 200. Elevated for at least 2 days. I pretty much don’t cheat except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Don’t feel too bad if I don’t repeat it more than one meal.
If I have high cholesterol/high BP/vascular trauma, from stimulants/lack of sleep/energy drinks, how long should I wait before starting carnivore? Is it even possible? I'm in solid shape and do cardo 3-5x week. I'm off energy drinks and pills and getting 7-8 hours sleep now.
I had a major heart attack after 6 years as a vegan. Now im following a carnivore diet (and feeling great), but my LDL is EXTREMELY high. I also have extremely low triglycerides, extremely high HDL, and am very lean and fit the profile for a LMHR). Since I've already had a heart attack, I'm not sure what's best for me to do at this point
@leemanwrong I was into bodybuilding and nutrition for many years before. So, high calories and high protein, but otherwise mostly whole foods (with occasional fast food). I gradually got cleaner and cleaner over the years, then went vegan. That got to a point of 100% whole foods, then 100% raw for about a year. I've always been super athletic and into boxing/martial arts, and bodybuilding. Are you suggesting high carb vegan diet had nothing to do with my heart? Why did you ask that?
No way for anyone to decide that for you. Are you going to trust the way you feel eating whole real food - beef or go back to plants that have all kinds of defense chemicals and make you feel worse. I’d trust what my body tells me and I am (against doctor recommendations). My LDL is high too. Verify with CAC/CTA tests to be sure. They’ll try to scare you. Look at the Framingham graph with HDL and LDL. If you have HDL over 75-80 LDL doesn’t increase coronary events. That’s because you have to be almost pure carnivore to have a HDL that high.
My doctor said my cholesterol was to high on carnivore and told me to do Mediterranean diet. She prescribed me a cholesterol Rx, even though I said I don't want to take it. I've slowly gained A LOT of weight trying to stay strict vegan. My only hope is trying carnivore.
Get off vegan. Drs have zero nutrition education. Watch more carnivore videos to learn more. 😊😊 Also watch Paul Mason's videos on cholesterol. They are excellent.
Hi I’m coming on here to ask about the carnivore diet, I’m 21 and really interested, but I’m genuinely worried about high cholesterol. It runs bad in my dad’s side and I’m just nervous about the outcome and if I should continue my diet?
I've done nothing but argue with my doctor for years now. He's insisted I'm going to die if I don't do something about my ldl levels. I kept telling him I didn't want to take statins but I finally gave in. No matter which one he prescribed after a week of taking one my joints were in so much pain I couldn't use my hands and walking was difficult. Had new blood work done and my results were triglycerides 60(a bit higher than normal for me as I've eaten a low carb diet for 30 years), hdl 60, ldl 200. I visited my wife's cardiologist who insisted on prescribing me injections and sent me to have a stress test and imaging done. When I found out the injections were $600 each and I'd have to take at least one per month I refused. The results came in and were negative for blockages. Not bad at 74 and I put that down to eating around 12 carbs per day. Not exactly carnivore but close. At any rate I decided enough was enough and tried niacin. Had to work my way up from 250mg to 1000mg over a month. Two and half months later more blood work and my ldl had dropped 50 points, triglycerides were unchanged and hdl rose 20 points although I felt the previous levels were fine. Now my doctor wants me to continue taking the 1000mg daily but I'm wondering what nasty side effects may be happening. My blood sugar, normally low has risen. I'm also itchy much of the time even though the niacin flush has gotten very mild. Mouth keeps a bad taste and stomach excess acid is frequent.
Hello Dr Shaw Baker, There is a lot of confusion regarding references to results from blood, urine and feces, among others. Certainly the glycogen that the body produces naturally (without carbohydrates) will not be the same result for those who eat a carbohydrate-based diet, and certainly That does make all the difference, Because the molecules are different, so we cannot take these results into consideration so accurately, The most important result is the improvement in your physical and mental health disposition, So let us be observant with our health. Gratitude for the Dr. Shaw Baker information
Got my lab results back today. After 4 months on carnivore/keto, im less than 30 carbs a day. My total cholesterol when up to 800. And my triglycerides went up to 200. I workout hard every day. I started at 270lbs and now im 245. Mind you i had abs at 270. So i want fat. I dont understand why everything went through the roof. More so my triglycerides. Am i consuming to much fat in my diet? Wouldnt think so, im dropping body fat and gaining lean mass. I feel the best i ever have. My gym performance and endurance and stamina are the highest they've ever been. Doni keep going and see if they come down or is this not for me???
@@sheilamurphree7037 Did labs again. Same. I'm going down the road of LMHR. I check all the boxes except low triglycerides. Makes sense tho, I'm a freak when it comes to working out. So there's a demand for it.
Started carnivore recently and have recently gotten a blood clot in my leg. A lot of research shows that a higher cholesterol diet can contribute to this, but I’m also overweight and been flying a lot recently for work. Is there any good research regarding blood clots linked to higher cholesterol diet, whether good or bad?
My position is that LDL quality is more important than LDL quantity. If you have poor quality LDL (Pattern B, oxidized, high trigs, etc.) then maybe you should worry about the quantity (because you have a lot of bad stuff) but high quality LDL shouldn't be a problem. It's great to see this concept being addressed as a possibility.
I just got my blood work back after being carnivore Cholesterol 220 Triglycerides 55 HDL 51 LDL 170 Not sure how to break this down and understand if this works for my body or not if anyone has any insight into this
my husband was on crestor for a little while few months .. low dose. His triglycerides went from 487dropping to in the high 200s this was way before crestor.. low carb for years.. then his dr had him do the crestor and like i said he did it for a few month , he decided he didn't want to take it and only took 2 pills a day.. did bbbe for a month and so on reg carnivore.. then yesterday we got his new lab work after 4 months and his triglycerides jumped 300 points in 4 months? he has had every heart test in the book and he has barely any plaque and all looks amazing but what about this
For my entire lifespan, they have been trying to prove that cholesterol of any kind is the cause of heart disease, and to date, they have not found even one shred of proof. This is why I ignore concerns about it. I also have a CCS of 0.
