Help A Horse That Hates Being Saddled 

I fully agree with the gradually ‘unlocking’ the horse. I do however feel there is a physical malfunction as well that right front leg is not moving correctly. Could be anything front feet to shoulder and hips or even neurological. Might be more than just one thing. I’m wondering what age this horse is.

Did the rider stretch out the front legs after girthing? I have a gelding that does this and if I neglect the stretch, he does this exact thing. I half girth, then back him a few steps, then girth more and stretch, back a few then walk off. Works every time

No one check her for pain? Just because a horse moves soundly on feet doesn't mean they arnt lame else where aka back or neck. Lack of forward movement and way she carry her hind end short suggests pain. So many think it's always a training issues but never think it's a pain response. Look up Sox the warmblood mare if you don't believe me.

That saddle doesn't fit. That is tensing the horse up and u can see it in the muscle waistage on the top line. That neck is so dipped in omg and it's got no core cause it can't use it to lift it's back under that saddle, cause it is hurting the horse and causing this issue. The under neck his huge muscled from all the back droping from pain under a saddle that doesn't fit and looks all perched on top rather than being one with it, while we have humans standing around blaming the horse and handler to some extent and finding excersizes that in the end won't work entirely tell a saddle that fits is put on the horse and then the horse rehabed to get the muscles to fire in the right places, if the damadge isn't permanent anyway. You can even see in some of the video if u pause it the saddle isn't even entirely straight and tips to the side very very slightly! Which is most likely why it's walking like a drunk sailor, criss crossing, unbalance side to side, trying to follow the weight of a slightly tipped to the side saddle... That's a testimont to past training that the horse is that sensitive to weight aids though that it would try to follow the weight of an unbalanced saddle. I'm gunna guess that horse has shoulder pain, cinching issues, and if you run your fingers down the sides of its spine it will drop down and away and swish it's tail and pin it's ears or some such thing. And a horse won't ever have the same thoughts we r having. It's a dang horse... Its a pray animal with a totally dif way of thinking and wiring to their brain and a dif way of reacting to the world! Science and 100000s of years of observation and historical record keeping about horses is fun. It's our job to learn their language and give them tools to help them understand us. Shoot, if we can't even for 1 second consider what that horse is thinking how in the hhhhe ll do we think that horse will ever get what we r thinking? We can't even figure out what other humans r thinking and we expect a horse to?! 😂 But no matter how much we do that anyway, if it was even possible, a bad saddle is a bad saddle and there's no training a horse to be on board with that.... Unless, ur forcing them too. Like if I'm forced to wear a corset 9 sizes too large or small and it has metal bits poking into me, no amount of yeilding my own ars around a circle is gunna long term help me. Sorry not sorry.

That horse is in pain. Stop trying to justify training!

That horse is not moving correctly, should be checked out by a Veterinarian.!
