This is called "The Song about the Salt" and it's a very rare song. The Russian lyrics: Verse 1: English lyrics: Verse 1: As for me, I'm happy to serve in the fleet, I'm glad to be drafted into the Navy. The salty breeze sways the riggings, The salty squall hits the seaman's face. Chorus: There is [only]? salt in any seaman's song, We have eaten a pound of salt together with our friends. On the watch, the salty sweat pours from us, The salt of our lives is sea, fleet! Verse 2: The girlfriends wait, such is their fate, We ask them both jokingly and seriously: "The seas have enough of both liquid and salt, Don't pour your salty tears into them". Verse 3: [...](?) I'll fuel up with salt beef, We love eating pickles. Here, real men serve, We won't be lured away from the fleet with a popsicle. (Note: "To eat a pound of salt together" is an idiom in Russian that means "to know each other really well", so it has a double meaning in this song).
beginning of verse 3 sounds like it starts with " [нашлось и вновь] заправим* солониной" or "[(something) found and again] (will be) fueled* up with salt beef"
I swear communists know how to make war music and motivational music SO GOOD, ive never felt as empowered while listening to western songs like "johnny comes marching home" compared to "red army is the strongest"
@@NuSuntSerb That's because you're listening to "When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again." Try listening to "Battle Hymn of the Republic", "Over There; Goodbye Broadway, Hello France", "Preussens Gloria", and "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile" While the Soviets, and Russians in general, are great at making music, you should listen to music that holds a candle to "Red Army is the Strongest".
Searching "Солёная песня" on RU-vid you will probably find the video of the Black Sea Fleet singing in Kiev in 1999, it is the same soloist and the same arrangement.
@@acaperic9070 yeah, back when russia was actually against fascism instead of fostering it like now, saying how "their" lands need to be purified of ukrainians
My favorite part about these old soviet songs is the excellent bass in the background, and the swells and "feeling" the music gives off. Soviet songs are really good at that. I may not understand the language, but it's usually a positive experience listening to these.
It is on RU-vid, but it's title in in French instead of Russian or English ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2GvOudfYEh8.html

There is a playlist from the French album of Soviet navy songs, it's called "Les plus beaux chants de marins russes" where this song and other songs are found there (with the name in French)
I figured out the full lyrics! English: Verse 1: As for me, I'm happy to serve in the fleet, I'm glad to have been drafted into the Navy. The salty breeze sways the riggings, The salty squall hits the seaman's face. Chorus: There is the note G in any seaman's song, We have eaten a pound of salt together with our friends. On the watch, the salty sweat pours from us, The salt of our lives is sea, fleet! Verse 2: The girlfriends wait, such is their fate, We ask them both jokingly and seriously: "The seas have enough of both liquid and salt, Don't pour your salty tears into them". Chorus Verse 3: Our borscht soup is filled with salt beef, We love eating pickles. Here, real men serve, We won't be lured away from the fleet with a popsicle. Chorus *The reason why note G was mentioned is that in Russian, it is the same word as salt.
The "Song of Salt"? Man, the Red Army Choir can make anything sound awesome. Might as well listen to them sing about grass growing, because that would be great.
This is actually a great song, thank you for uploading it!

Black Sea fleet Ensemble, There are many songs like this, even better than this one

I recommend the Black Sea Fleet songs: "Уходим в море" "Корабли на параде" "Матросам дорог командир" "Я вернусь к тебе" "Doswidanja heißt auf Wiederseh'n" etc...
Why do half of the Russian marches have to sound like passionate love songs, with only the other half sounding like professional pattriottic military marches ?
That’s comrade Brezhnev in that photo. Good to hear this one quite a rarity. Brezhnev would be proud, brings back better days when Russia wasn’t a dystopian kleptocracy.
@@mastersafari5349 Not arguably, absolutely much better. Russia, like the rest of its former Soviet states, was much better off as an SSR. Even the CIA stated that the Western idea of the USSR being a dictatorship, even under Stalin, was greatly overstated. The relevant excerpt reads thusly: "Even in Stalin's time there was collective leadership. The Western idea of a dictator within the Communist setup is exaggerated. Misunderstandings on that subject are caused by a lack of comprehension of the real nature and organization of the Communist's power structure. Stalin, although holding wide powers, was merely captain of a team..."
@@jakekaywell5972That’s Revisionism and you know it. Stalin’s centralisation of power is the reason why the role of “Secretary” of The Party came to be the apex leadership position.

Does anyone know any information about this song other than Black Sea Fleet Ensemble and the french title in the description Le chant du sel? I just don't know why a lot of soviet songs that are auto generated by youtube are in french for example like Katyusha being Katioucha, it's so annoying

Alexandrov's choir, better known as the Red Army Choir, performed in Paris for the first time in 1937 at the Paris Universal Exhibition, where they became very famous, with the French loving Russian/Soviet popular songs. Since then, Alexandrov's Choir, the "Chœurs de l'Armée rouge" has become very popular in France, selling several records and consequently leaving several titles in French on RU-vid.

Even though this song is by another choir (Black sea fleet ensemble) the love of some French people for Russian music continued. Black Sea Fleet is going through something similar with Germany, they played several concerts in West Germany and sold several records, search "Marinechor der Schwarzmeerflotte" and you will see about the appreciation of some Germans for the ensemble.
@ correct me if i'm wrong but i think that this song is a special song for the their concert in france and only played once in 1997. and i think that's why there is only the french title of it and not much information about it
@@ZvizdabolIt is from the Soviet Union. The fleet therefore would have Russians, Ukrainians, Belorussians, Kazakhs, etc in their rows. So it's a shared culture, just like Pushkin or Tchaikovsky.
