Somewhere around 3-5 months old you’re likely finding that your baby is no longer just stationary in their crib or bassinet!
They’re trying to move this way or move that way and it is totally normal!!! But you are mildly freaking out because all the sudden you see on the monitor that they’ve rolled onto their belly in the crib and you’re like WHAT’S HAPPENING!?

My little girl is almost 4 months and has definitely started to roll around in her crib but she does sleep through the night. She has rolled on her belly and we didn't freak out we were excited. She loves using her hands. She is in a play pen/ crib so it already comes with mesh sides. She rolled from her side to her belly with one of her arms under her chest and then rolled back to her side! Super excited!

I didn’t want to do mesh bumpers but my pediatrician approved them because my son kept getting his arms and legs stuck in the slats and waking up screaming. To me that was worse. 😭

Si my daughter can roll to her belly but cannot roll back, it’s been over a week where she can’t help rolling on her belly and starts crying during the night, I read it wasn’t safe until she learn to roll back, what do I do in the mean time 🥵

I’d love to know too! My daughter is doing the exact same thing. I’m almost too scared to fall asleep in case she gets stuck and I’m not aware. I sleep next to her (she’s in her bassinet) but I’m so tired I’m worried I won’t wake up when she’s fussing

Hey Mama! Yay for rolling as it is such a great developmental skill, but I understand how much of a change this can be! If your baby rolls to their stomach and is stuck, you can absolutely go help them. But we’ll want to make sure to quickly enter their room, roll them back over and leave so this doesn’t turn into a game. You can also give your baby space to figure out how to roll back over on their own or get comfy on their tummy for sleep. During the daytime, let’s increase tummy time and practice rolling from tummy to back multiple times a day. You can even practice in the crib! Continue placing your baby on their back for sleep, but if they choose to roll to their tummy to sleep, it’s okay! Let’s just make sure your baby’s crib includes a firm, flat crib mattress, fitted crib sheet and nothing else inside. Do you have any information on how to implement a daily schedule and sleep schedule for a 10 month old that has never had a routine? I have been terrible about implementing a routine and we need one.

My daughter has been rolling onto her side to sleep since she was a week old. Now she's almost 4 weeks. Should I stop swaddling her this early? She would definitely wake herself up because she startles quite a lot.

Great question! We are referring to their age from due date! If your little one was born premature or late, you will want to adjust their age accordingly.
