I like the two-sofa layout because both couches directly face natural light. In my parent's home, one of our walls is entirely made of windows. The layout that makes the most sense in their living room is a giant sectional facing the rest of the house instead of the view. I always find myself positioning myself to see the view, though. Also, in your grand living room space, the two couches feels less empty and more complete!

The new furniture pieces are really nice, but in my opinion you should definately go back to the 2 sofa set up to utilize the space better. The current set up could use some side chairs to fill the space better.

Love this layout. The sofa is gorgeous. I do prefer the two sofa layout because it completes the space more, and with your big family - it works for all the entertaining and living you do in your home. Gorgeous all the way around. If anything - the doc is going to love this gorgeous piece in his home. I'm so envious. Wish I could have a house of my own.

Definitely the two sofas as more seating plus one faces the beautiful back yard and facing each other creates more intimate conversation with larger groups. Also, you have a sectional in your den.

My favorite piece of either layout is that FABULOUS glass-topped coffee table, it's a work of art - can't wait to see it in your design for the doctor's home! That said, for your space I definitely prefer the two couch layout, and for all of the reason stated by others, as well as your own logic behind the original design. You already have a comfy setup with a sectional in your delightful family room. I enjoy the differences between your FR and the LR.

Two sofas! Much more sophisticated and "Valentina!" You already have that cozy sunroom for TV watching... or do you?!?! I think as long as you have that set up you don't need a sectional in this front room. The 2 sofas look so inviting when you walk in the front door and make the space look bigger than the sectional. With the sectional here, the room seems to say, Hey, come chill and let's stare at the fireplace together :)

Well, I am also a designer…retired and know just how you feel. No matter how beautiful our rooms are, we love to see new things all the time. Let me start by saying…love them both…sectional is gorgeous but so are your other two sofas…your first way is more practical for family use without a doubt and also better when you have guests! I feel you definitely need other seating with the sectional and as you pointed out…too tight! You arranged the first grouping because you were thinking of beauty and functionality and that was the right move! Now, I love the round coffee table…will that be big enough between your two sofas? I did notice that with the sectional, it seemed like it was quite far away for guests to reach out and use but if not and it is large enough…I prefer the round one! I also love the herringbone rug better than the one you originally have but you would need a larger size. Other than that, keep what you had…both beautiful but the first arrangement is just as beautiful and fills the space better still leaving a 36 inch walkway!

I agree that the first layout worked better, but some tweaks can still give that breath of fresh air they seem to be craving. And I was also wondering if changing out the table would be a helpful move. Plus maybe moving/removing the console table behind the couch? It did seem to make that walkway a bit tight

I love the sectional in your space. It feels more relaxed and it seems to open up the space and makes it feel bigger. In my opinion, it feels less crowded. I personally, don’t decorate my house for entertaining but rather for every day living.

that is what I was thinking. I used to decorate for entertaining and had so much furniture and chairs. I got rid of all of the extra furniture and now live for my needs and self.

I prefer your two sofa layout because of the additional seating to host friends and family. The expansive seating area also made the room feel larger since it encompassed more of the room versus wasted walkway space. I also love that the space is more welcoming and isn’t closed off when walking through the front door, versus facing the back of the sofa. I want to assure you that y’all already have the cozy family feel with the sectional in the sunroom! The two sofa layout is my favorite for a formal entertaining space! :) Lots of love! Regardless, there is no denying the casterly sectional is gorgeous! Love it!

I'm an odd one out who loves the sectional. I think it's more "homey" and gives more room to move around the furniture. That being said, the 2 couches are ideal when you host/entertain so much.

I'm with you. Both layouts are great but one couch looks cleaner and more esthetically pleasing to me, personally. It also makes the room look bigger and more airy. I would prefer to see that when I come out of my bedroom. But it'll all come down to functionality: how often guests visit or a lot of people sit on it.

Love the sectional, however, I think in your space the two sofa layout is better. If you like to entertain a lot, the sofas would allow better conversation and seating. We actually chose two sofas and arranged them perpendicular to each other, much like a sectional, but with open space to move in between. The sectional seems small and better suited to a family room with a tv as the focal point. Your taste is amazing! I’m sure whatever you decide it will be beautiful 🥰

I think the sectional is a more casual look and, in my opinion, feels more minimalist than the double sofas. I get what you’re saying about having an entertainment room, but there is room around the sectional to bring in more seating from other rooms when needed. (Please, please, please do not add a TV above the fireplace.)

I have to go with my gut--literally. When I see the "borrowed" look, anxiety floods my inside. I think it's because the sectional minimizes the grand space, by not allowing it to live up to its full potential. Beautiful new pieces, though!

Both layouts are stunning & so functional too! Isn't it funny how we really do design around our family's use but also consider how we will fit guests & family?! -- it's almost like you have to design 2 rooms! I think the new set up sounds absolutely perfect for your family & as you talk, it does sound like they are the priority & you can bring in chairs/ottomans in when you need more seating...and you have that extra seating at your dining table & that cozy nook off of your dining. I'm excited to hear what you decide to do! I rely heavily on our dining table when guests come during the Winter/colder months. We have a big family with 5 kids so your original layout has been super inspiring for me...I think I'll do something similar when we redo our living room. And I loved your thoughts about the round table next to the chaise. So many great things to hear you talk through. Thanks for this fun video & looking forward to seeing it all in the Dr.'s new space! Definitely the 2 couches facing each other! More welcoming and space for alot more people. When coming in the front door it creates a space that pulls you in. The sectional, while beautiful, is too small for the space. The 2 couches facing each other makes your room look much more spacious and elegant ✨️

At first I loved the two sofas facing each other layout so you can see out the gorgeous windows but then you showed us the sectional with a chaise, that’s my favorite layout! Instantly it feels cozier with more space around it. I noticed how I like the negative space that isn’t filled so you can enjoy the pieces that fill the space.

I'm going to play Goldilocks here...I like both, but feel like the two couches can seem a bit crowded, while the chaise sofa doesn't provide enough seating for entertaining needs. A compromise of the Adams sofa without a chaise and two accent chairs on either side facing each other might be just right!

Hi Valentina , First off wanted to let you know how much I enjoy watching you with all your happy energy! I am obsessed with decor and sometimes catch myself moving things around because of beautification versus functionality . Gotta take a step back and rethink it . I love the two sofas and large coffee table much better! More inviting , fills up your space with out looking cluttered. I would bring back you ikea console white piece behind the first sofa with just your lighting ,some books, and some decor object .nothing near the staircase ( for clear path) except maybe some art on the wall . Also your fireplace really needs a pop like a tall gold or white framed mirror . And across on the opposite far wall of fireplace one big piece of art to balance.although beautiful , edit the restoration hardware table… The simpler the better. Sorry for so much info you asked😂

Look number two! More airy, less stuff filling the space. You can enjoy the fiireplace without having to turn your head sideways. And you can add side chairs for more seating if you want.

I like the 2 sofa set up better. They feel like they fit the space better and allow you to take advantage of all the views in your room. You also already have a sectional in your other space. It’s nice that there is a different layout. Also, the new layout creates a lot of echo in it. The new furniture is beautiful.

I prefer the two sofa layout as it seems more cosy and intimate. The new furtniture of the sectional layout is beautiful but I also really like your two white sofas that are gorgeous. In addition, the coffee table arrangements that you always set up with the bigger tables in the two sofas layout give sophistication to the room and seem to really reprensent you and your esthetic.

The sectional looks more cosy, but I do like the formal look as well 🙏🏻 I have had my leather corner suite ( also in a similar colour to the sofa ) delivered now, it gives my open plan living room a more cosy area even though it is a 4 seater, facing my fireplace & a large rug around the whole of it ❤️🇬🇧xxxx p.s I do think you will revert back, because you have more seating you can both chill out on two sofas xxxx

Also I discovered thru other RU-vid channels that there are lightbulbs that run on remote which you can purchase on Amazon where you don’t need a plug. Hope that helps for future placement of lamps that don’t have plugs nearby.

Same. I have to view rooms and design with ADA ideas in mind. But even in homes without a person with this need rooms seem to flow better with this consideration.
