For over half a century legendary violinists have got their start at the International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition. Christel Lee, Gold Medalist in 2015, continues her collaboration with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra that began right after victory. Dvořák’s hyper-romantic violin concerto is one of the undisputed masterpieces in its genre. Johannes Brahms and Dvořák, two of the 19th century’s great symphonists, concerto masters and friends, star in this evening of dramatic confrontations.
