I lived in HH in the late 70s when there was a CB craze in the UK. Trying to hook up with a friend over the air, he told me his location was "the bouncing fruit 20", meaning Cherry Bounce. Somehow that description struck me as hilarious, and your video brought back that odd memory!
I love suburban walking videos in general, but in this case what I enjoyed was re-evaluating the simple every day familiarities of the UK commute. It's amazing how different things look when you see them on film/video; I just pick up on mudane details which in real life I may not have even registered, let alone had any profound response to, like noticing the children in this video. I suspect that in real life if I were doing that walk they just wouldn't have stood out to me much but here, in your video, their sweet, well-behaved, energetic behaviour really stood out in the rainy gloom. I appreciated that you began this in the Old Town-- far more photogenic and charming than the other end of Hemel Hempstead, which is why you only see the Old Town in Ricky Gervais's Netflix show 'After Life' ;). Great video for a time capsule, thanks for uploading. It would be lovely to see you do another one in the early summer when lockdowns lift and people are out dining and socialising: perhaps you might even start that one in the much overlooked, almost secret, flower garden over the road from Barclays bank? It's very pretty and many folks don't bother exploring it when in full bloom. Thank you again for your video and I hope you have a great weekend.
Thank you 😊 It'll be interesting to look back on this in years to come. I'm planning to record Hemel every so often. It'll be a completely different atmosphere in the summer. I'll check out the garden next time! Thanks again!
34.56, Richard Brown Hair, is where the external shots of Pie in the Sky were done. I know it is winter and a Sunday (people parking on double yellows!) but it looks very glum. I preferred it when you could "cruise The Marlowes" in your Cortina, then they ruined it in the 90s by pedestrianising it. And that awful rainbow has seen better days.
@@walkthroughtime8373 Now I'm retired I have lots of time for travel.. and want to see as much as I can. I see you have a lot of good vids of walking around in England.. I will probably watch them all.. I get homesick.. stuck in Holland.. I'm waiting for things to return to normal before I travel again.. so I watch virtual vids instead.. as it is the next best thing to actually being there. I love the drone footage best.. feels like flying.. but I am not going to try it myself. Too much to carry around.
It is the most phenomenally filthy town. This video did a great promotional service to the town by miraculously avoiding the litter and rubbish. I think it's because the town centre gets cleaned daily but soon as soon as you go into the neighbourhood streets to attempt a similar video and actually pay attention to the hedges, the kerbs, the gutters, the underpasses, even people's front yards and footpaths...woah, just litter EVERYWHERE. Unreal. PS= Please tell me the commenter below, the fiercely proud defender of rubbish, litter and the worst of human behaviour Ms. Anna D, hasn't put her home address on her RU-vid channel...yikes.
@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 It was never as green and lovely as Welwyn, the New Towns got less so the more that was built. But all the extra building, what can I say?
