Someone who watches as much movies and TV as he does probably doesn't have the bandwidth to re-watch many of them so needs to accept there may be things he missed, misinterpreted the meaning, or misremembered outright that may make his assumptions about the rules of the show less than absolute. Outside of any rules of the show though, there are the simple things to go by. A being created by one magic spell can simply be recreated by another magic spell. Also, with room for MCU adaptation and intentional misdirects, at the end of the day Cap is still a WWII supersoldier awakened from being frozen in ice in the modern day, so why wouldn't the story of Billy (and Tommy) be a once-mystically-created-kid, dissipated then recreated as an older version considered a reincarnation or transfer into another person? The basics of the characters are established too. Cap has comics Cap's consistent morals, personality, features, abilities and cliffnotes origin; Teen has Wiccan's aged up factor, mystical powers, sexual orientation, and the mystery that came with his original introduction hiding an unknown connection to Wanda under the codename "The Asgardian" prior to Wiccan. Plus, while many people don't expect a Young Avengers movie itself, the fact remains Marvel has been seeding those and Champions characters into the MCU {Cassie/Ant-Man movie, Kate/Hawkeye series, Eli/TF&TWS series, America/DS2:MoM movie, Kamala/Ms. Marvel series, Billy and Teddy (Maximoff conjured edition)/WandaVision series, and Billy (Kaplan edition)/Agatha series [MAYBE by the finale Tommy (Shepherd edition)]}.

New souls, fake souls, reclaimed souls, soul shards, just memory transfer,... there are 20+ ways they can pick back up on Billy, but I think assuming it would end up being a multiverse explanation is what tainted the idea of him coming back for John to begin with. Thinking that because they were magical constructs that they were entirely fake is also what was tripping him up, but they could easily reveal that similarly to how she warped people in Westview she could have pulled some kids' souls into her hex and birthed them as the versions of Billy and Tommy we first got. Dropping the hex could simply have sent them back, and now one came a calling for Agatha.

You can. Events in season two eventually explain themselves and some of what happened in season one, so you'd get filled in. I would suggest searching for a synopsis of season one if you're worried about being lost though.

​@remyd8767 each of the lions that make up Voltron are piloted by a member of the Voltron Force... Keith the black lion, Lance the red lion, Sven the blue lion, Pidge the green lion, and Hunk the yellow lion. But they are all twenty somethings except Pidge is a teen.
