Regarding Gamora dying and coming back, I wouldn't say it was pointless. There were some actual consequences such as her relationship with Peter. It's strained that and they might not actually get back together now.
Seriously, WTF What are they thinking? One of the biggest strengths around the first movie as a project was it being at a more modest budget that allowed for more creative risks. Why the hell did you throw that model away immediately?!
Dude. Dude. Relax. Most people like to think they know better and smarter than everyone else. And sure, at times. People make stupid decisions that most know is stupid. There's more that goes into it than you say. I wish so badly people knew how the industry works. Like actually know. Maybe people would show more respect.
@@Magdalena8008s No I'm not a Hollywood executive but I've been involved in creative projects. And I'm sure plenty of us here comprehend managing budgets and assessing risk.
For everyone who thinks studios are always the reason that movies are a disaster. Very often the good ones actually do help to fix terrible productions and poor creative decisions.
I don’t get this argument that The Batman world is “realistic” it’s a hyper styled world, that is very grounded but not realistic. You can do grounded fantasy, Reeves already did it with Apes.
I don't think Wanda is necessarily dead, but she did get powered down when she broke the Darkhold, probably losing the majority of the powers she took from Agatha, that could even turn out to be the corpse that Agnes found in the woods/morgue. It could be that she got her powers back already and didn't notice, because part of Wanda's hex is still on her.
Overall, I think Joker 2 wrapped up Arthur's story well. The musical parts definitely catered to Lady Gaga, it seemed to me. Anyway, all throughout the 2 movies, we get hints that Arthur isn't The Joker but merely started the idea of the character. Hedger's Joker really was perfect in portraying the true Joker.
They did the same with the first one - gave Philips complete control. But no one said anything because it was good. Only now it's an issue. Joker 1 earned Philips that right in my opinion. It didnt work out. It happens in film, so be it.
Agree 100%. As much as I'm loving The Penguin, and looking forward to The Batman part 2, my opinion is that James Gunn's DCU should be separate from Matt Reeves's Batman universe. Also looking forward to the start of the DCU with Superman 2025 next year.
"But Joohhhhhhn..." lol at 37:00 @johncampea The short version is Wanda's creation of fake Billy and Tommy Maximoff could be "revealed" as having "borrowed" two souls who then went back to their older original bodies. Teen being one of them (William Kaplan), and Thomas Shepherd the other. *Long version* People know Wanda conjured the kids, which then dissipated when the spell was broken. It's not about *multiverse* when [some] people think that Teen is William Kaplan. It is also not about the age being wrong either, nor is it discounted just because he has a dad who uses a sous vide often. It is about how that magic [may have] worked to begin with. Apply the knowledge that the MCU alters origins all the time, to a tweak in the HOW of creating Billy, Tommy and even Faux Vision. Take the idea that Wanda pulled in actual souls of two 13yo kids 3 years ago who were on death's door (for argument's sake) during the events of WandaVision. Two kids that would have died otherwise, so were minutes from "crossing" over. The spell [hypothetically] used real life energy to create the fake Billy and Tommy Maximoff, complete with teen souls that were triggering the rapid aging to sync up. Then those souls went back to William Kaplan and Thomas Shepherd (the original bodies), taking enough magic and life with them to wake them from their comas that would otherwise have been fatal, plus transfer the powers. From there, we get William "Teen" Kaplan, son of Rebecca and Jeff Kaplan, who despite not truly being Wanda's son feels a lingering familial connection. 3 years later (at 16yo) he is drawn to the town where his other brief, partially remembered life occurred. He researched Agatha Harkness heavily (since Wanda is "off the table") and made his way there. Now, to tie it back to the comics, Billy and Tommy (despite the wonkiness of comics' sliding time) aren't meant to have been conjured (because they weren't natural born there either) that long ago that 18+ years passed, yet Wanda has met William Kaplan who is the reincarnation of Billy Maximoff. He's now old enough to be married to Teddy "Hulkling" Altman. Magical time travel shenanigans played a part there, but suffice to say that Wanda supposedly borrowed souls then and could be writen in the MCU to have borrowed souls here. Tommy may also be out there too, but because he received magical speed powers (based on his spiritual uncle) instead of witchcraft, he can be explained away to be less attuned to seeking out Westview (unless he also is). Mostly, a convoluted (but not really) reason for Teen to be Billy isn't that far fetched since the members of Young Avengers were all being seeded into the MCU (even if such a movie or series never is meant to be made) such as Eli Bradley, America Chavez, Kate Bishop, fake Billy and fake Tommy.
Honestly, im getting tired of marvel acting like these characters are dead and won't be back. They were literally just talking about Elizabeth olsen coming back just a few weeks ago. She'll probably be in the last agatha episode
@desmondslater But that's not Marvel saying it, that's the actors. If you're referring to Robert Downey Jr, that was him who said he was done with the MCU when Tony got killed off. He's returning, but it's not as Tony Stark.
I guess I’m in the minority, but I never once believed Arthur was JOKER. Although I enjoyed the movie the ending just never worked for me, and I never bought that Arthur would be the guy who would go up against Batman. Now don’t get me wrong, I didn’t love JOKER FOLIE A DEUX, but overall it worked for me, the ending landed and I saw this more as a GOTHAM origin story. I understand why people are mad, but by the end of FOLIE A DEUX it clicked and worked.
I love The Batman and Penguin... but I hate the idea of forcing that into Jimmy Pistol's new DCU. I feel like if they do that they're making the same mistakes as the old DCEU of executives forcing how the creatives craft the world.
Joker 2 isn't as bad as the crew is making it out to be. However, I love that they hate it though. It's art and can be perceived any way they choose. I love that for them.
John I hear you. Unless you are a Mount Rushmore director. No one should get complete control. Here's another question did you watch Batman: Cape Crusader on Prime?
How do streamers differentiate those who subscribe for a specific show and those who just passively watch? For example; I recently subscribed to Disney + so I could watch Inside Out 2 with my son, but I figured since I have a month's subscription, I may as well watch Agatha and Shogun. So how would they determined which show/movie I subscribe for?
We talked about this before. They've done studies that show when people sign up for a certain service, well over 90% of the time the first thing they'll watch is that thing they signed up for.
storytelling is just as limitless as the multiverse, its all in how its told to make things matter and I think they haven't done the best job with that so far, but you can have no multiverse at all and still have the same problem.
It was inevitable that people were going to start saying that The Reeves Batman universe needed to be apart of the new DCU. Nevermind that it's clear that Gunn wants an older and more experienced Bruce Wayne, and not a year one Batman. Just like it's also inevitable that one it's announced who is cast as Bruce Wayne for the DCU, the people will immediately say, "if it's not the Pattinson Batman, I'm not interested." Fanboys are predictable and dumb.
If they want to do a musical court room drama, they should reference Chicago. Although the songs were written for a broadway play. The movie Chicago was excellent and super entertaining despite it being song and dance with courtroom drama.
Only reason i m keeping netflix is it s asian content. Especially the anime and my elderly parents who sometimes, but rarely use it. Netflix keeps cancelling shows that had promising first seasons. Most terrific shows, star trek enterprise, seinfeld.... had terrible first seasons. I am done falling for netflix original content that is cancelled after season 1. I am done.
I don't care about Tolkien cannon but to claim there is no such things because he had some notes that never went anywhere is just ignorant. People brainstorm all the time, write all sorts of notes and ideas down, that has absolutely nothing to do with published works. A writer is allowed to write something down and decide it was a bad idea, scrap it and you claim that undoes their published ideas.
Are you sure you understood the point there? John was saying that a lot of people are complaining that the scrapped notes, adapted by third parties into a semi-coherent narrative, are the canon, and so anything that doesn't fit that, can't be made.
@@xsanguine8 The complaints people have of the most recent adaptation includes items that contradict his actual writing (not just the items pieced together and released by his kids). Regardless, I don't care about Tolkien specifically, what I am saying is that every writer has notes and thoughts that do not make it into their work, by this logic there is no such thing as canon in any form of media (which is false) if you claim notes on napkins undoes it. Writers brainstorm, only the published works matter to cannon.
@@xsanguine8 and to be clear the Silmarillion is published work, regardless of your stance on it's coherency. If someone wants to make something that does not follow canon that is fine, as long as they are clear this is something completely different or loosely based on some source material. There are countless of examples of this done well.
@@JoePesos Published by whom, though? If you got a book published, and it's your fanfic set in an established literary canon, is your canon canon to the original author's canon? I'm not saying this is the case with rings of power or the Silmarillion, just pointing out how your comment can be misconstrued.
@@xsanguine8 what? You either own the IP or not, fanfiction using IP owned by another entity cannot legally be sold, they are posted for free nobody is publishing that. It has nothing to do with canon unless the owner/writer decides to make it canon.
36:38 I would’ve agreed with you if Guardians 3 didn’t fix this by making a point that this is not Gamora and it will never be Gamora. A totally great choice that keeps the impact of her death in IW imo
Amber Midthunder rules. Hyped to see her in anything. Prey was dope. Monarch was dope. So, yay. Kaos seemed dope in theory. Love it in theory. But they didn't pull it off that well in my eyes. But maybe it would have got better if more were made. Id have given it a shot. Like Kris said. It has parts that were great. I am not a DC fan. I was raised in a Marvel household. No hate for DC. Its just not for me. Comic wise and other media. But....I loved Peacemaker, The Batman, and now Penguin. And when it comes to putting them in the same universe. No comment. Ill leave that to Gunn and people who can actually make the decision do so. And judge based on what actually happens rather than speculation. Wanda will be back. One way or another. Doesnt matter what this producer says. "Shes off the table" now perhaps. But not in the future. I dont believe its up to them anyways. Point is, she'll be back. And hallelujah to it happening.
If Wanda really is dead, then what a LAME way to end her character. For a guy whose biggest claim to fame was the freaking Hangover films, Todd Phillips seems to have a massively overinflated ego. He comes off as so smug and pretentious.
Campea is being dumb again. Yes, Wanda's children were figments of her imagination; the entire point is that Wanda's imagination can alter reality! Teen isn't entirely Billy Maximoff, he is Billy Kaplan or rather in the accident that happened 3 years ago in the end credits of Agatha Kaplan died and Maximoff took his body.
I enjoyed Joker 2. I believe many people went in wanting the first movie as the second. The first movie being inspired by Taxi Driver and this Joker 2 looked to be an original movie. If it's similar or inspired by a different movie, I don't know which movie was an inspiration to it.
