The great thing about Jonesy's Jukebox is that Steve Jones gives his interviewees the CHANCE to talk about themselves. He's not (thankfully) a mainstream journalist, he's a musician, he gives his interviewees the space to talk, he's not just asking about when the new album's coming out; we need somebody like Steve Jones on UK TV, imagine, say Channel 4 doing a televised version of Jonesy's Jukebox? It would be must-watch television, better than BBC 4's music output, better than Six Music, although why don't they give him a show? Steve Jones is fantastic and he's doing a GREAT job. Also, he gets the people on his show: Brian May, David Coverdale, Sparks, John Cooper Clark, John Taylor, Ozzy Osbourne, most of these people don't get invited on to TV in the UK. Honestly, Steve is the best.
Love this comment. Jonesy also is not afraid to ask seemingly stupid questions. He's not afraid to show his ignorance and really ask a question wanting an answer from his subject. Most interviewers steer away from anything that they don't already know the answer to. I miss his show so much. I hope he gets back in the studio soon.
Why? Because he's earnings$$s & leading a life many people can only dream of including people who work very hard just to get by. If he was on his arse working minimum wage and deciding healthcare before food or rent I wonder if he'd feel different?
As an immigrant, I'm happy (and a little surprised) to see Henry acknowledging what an amazing country this is. Maybe he's mellowed out after seeing the rest of the world.
Main lesson from reading RU-vid comments, there are some fucking idiots out there! Look, Rollins is a guest on Steve's show, he's there to talk about himself. What do you expect him to do? Sit there in silence?.
Apparently Steve has a bunch of ignorant, uneducated, low self esteemed people who are somehow threatened by Henry Rollins- a genuinely nice and caring guy who just wants to help the world- watching his show. How sad. Peace & Love to Steve and Henry
Agree. Same was just like why does it sideways threaten some people so much about the certainty and expression of a speaker talking about things they’re being asked and who can articulate but also within the actual balance of sharing time and thoughts with another human being. I know some people are deeply uncomfortable and uncertain in communication but these two however clearly don’t.
I have a certain cognitive dissonance going on with how I feel about Henry. I love him but I really do dislike him. USA isn't great if you are poor & the whole thing about succeeding in the USA if you work hard is BS. Lot's of people work harder than Henry has ever had to & are running on a treadmill.
@@youjoker9647 Henry does and has always worked hard, but he did get some breaks that has coincided with his efforts. If he didn't get the Black Flag call, by his own admission, he would have remained working class.
@@listenhealthily ok, explain how it's more free? Free to get a gun to shoot people for instance, so free people can't afford health care? BS. For all it's bad points UK still a better place to live. Fuck the weather. I enjoy a temperate climate.
I imagine L.A. just being a pissing contest among celebrities over who's got the most money, who's the most accomplished, who received the most favorable press in the dailies & bragging about it. Neighborhood gossip over who just bought a Bentley or range rover.....Yeah,i think i'll stay in Richmond Virginia.
Vulture Feeder that's more like the affluent neighborhoods like Beverly Hills or Century City. As far as LA as a whole, it's dirty, grimey, always traffic, overpriced and overpopulated. I have lived there for the 32 years of my life and I can't wait to leave.
LA is 99% like anywhere else, people just trying to make ends. The media tried to make it seem as if these celebrity clowns are the majority in "Hollywood". These rich assholes live in high security gated suburbs u cant get near. It's all just bullshit imagery. Rollins filled his pockets with those first Gap ads 30 yrs ago and still trying to come off as street. It's nauseating.
@@loveslunatics6616 great someone who sees through his bullshit. He'd still be angry if he was working for low wage and just about getting by from week to week. He's another who's forgotten how a massive% live day to day hoping they're not ill and so have to take time off work.
@@radzo1675 . Sweden. You can walk anywhere, camp anywhere, light a fire anywhere... and not get shot for doing so. The only rule is: leave the land as you found it. Oh yeah... healthcare is free.... so if you get cancer (or pregnant!) a trip to the hospital to sort you out doesn't have to be covered by an insurance policy or incur a huge invoice as you leave. And before you even start bleating about "high tax", the tax that everyone pays ensures the entire society actually works. And just about no one gets shot. .... And the bullshit about "immigrant invasion" is just that... utter bullshit... propogated, I guess, to keep dull muppets from ever questioning the lie that the US is actually "free". Don't believe me? Go on a camping trip in the good ol US of A. Or try smoking a cigarette on the sidewalk outside of corporate building. Wardens or Police or some other official parental substitutes will be crawling all over you within minutes. Do the same in Sweden and nobody bats an eyelid.
Sounds like ultra hardcore Henry's rollin' at 185% to cover his once was on the hammer egalitarian elder statesman & intellectual superior, Steve Jones
LA is a police state(in all honesty) but its also filled with creative people, and its very wealthy in a private sector sort of way. It not one thing its many things...(i was there for over 8 years, in a row. Not bragging, just stating. Now I live in between a woods and a cemetery- perfect for walking my cat.
No one is freer? Nowhere are you safer? There are plenty of places in the U.S. I wouldn't dare go walking around by myself, but where I live now, I'm not the least bit worried being out and about and at any time of the day. If I so choose to, I can drink my whiskey anywhere in public as soon I leave the store even if there's a police officer standing right outside.
Hes a well versed, straight forward dude. He debates and talks about the issues. He’s direct. And he’s opinionated. Lay off the negatives, and dig a little deeper if you’re gonna talk shit
All these people getting uppedy about the states versus their country- no shame in being proud where you are from and happy with where your life is at. He is satisfied with his life amd keeping busy- good on you Henry!
He seems like he's fighting off being a born again Christian ,or something as inane ,Mad manic energy, to fight off his fear of death, and being forgotten .
The right-wing republicans are hating on him, because he's a left wing democrat. American's are either one or the other and if you're the other, you're automatically hated. Crazy eh?
Dead rat for lunch? Only if you eat in a terrible fast food place! Brit food is no longer stuck in the 1970s when garlic was viewed with suspicion. Brit homes are small, though.
Oh I see plenty of huge people around in London. I mean some are so big they can no longer walk by putting one foot in front of the other & just kind of waddle instead.
Very easy to see he has been set in his place. Someone that travels as much as he says he does surly has a agenda based opinion about it. Just remember people, Its one mans opinion. The only way to get an answer about anywhere is go yourself. Don't listen to anyone, Why would you? Base your thoughts on someone else opinion?
He is the definition of "outgoing" and some of the comments can't handle it, because they aren't doing half as much as he is, and they hate themselves for it...... And diss Henry to feel better about themselves DID I MISS ANYTHING??
Is Henry talking about the states at the turn of the 19th century? Cause maybe then we can all agree but America is not that country anymore. Europe is more free now
Massive pensions. Rollins & Steve don't worry about rent or having to take time off work when they're really ill. They're not super rich but things like healthcare and amenities and rent etc will not be a problem.
The best place to live the USA ?? Are you serious Henry ? Where you cannot afford surgery and ppl ask for donations on FB all the time....where ppl cannot go to the mall without carrying guns..afraid someone harm you....etc etc....where ppl have not proper health insurance but own an arsenal at home..guns..rifles......
Try Italy, Henry. Isis doesn't even show up here they're scared of us. BTW there wouldn't be much communication with them, we don't speak any foreign language. If you need to take pics for your site or photobooks we have Art here. Like... A lot. We have sea&mountains. Food ain't that bad, u know... The sun shines high and the girls... Oooh I mean ! JK
Joseph Perreault thank you I know the guy, since the Black Flag. I like him musically, even in the HR band. Ill tempered man, btw. But there's only one Henry Rollins in this world u know ( thanks God hahahaha). He gets along pretty well with Danzig. And no one else LOL
Joseph Perreault hey hello and sorry for the late reply (I thought I had already replied my f@@ked up brain) I know the Washington DC scene pretty well cool stuff, one of those movements we'll be hearing talking about forever at leadt for ages I guess. I've always been into rock to be honest, british and american, Detroit is the wonderland for me. Nowadays I listen to medern rock amongst all the names these twos immediately come on my mind: Monstermagnet for the US and Hellacopters for the EU (Sweden) I love em. About Croatia: I've been there 5 times, in Crikvenica, 30 km south from Rijeka (Fiume). My friend has got two houses he rents to tourists there, so we go there in autumn to check the houses, repair what is broken, replace faulty stuff and so on... Nice place! I like croatian girls they're speak easy, italian girls are different. Not so easy.
wow the negative comments on henry rollins are really amazing! what`s the problem with you people...or is it with this guy? hmmmm...let`s see...all I can say is that I once saw a henry rollins reading/impro show. he was advertised as being very funny and witty. however, there must be something very wrong with me, as I came away from that show without laughing, not even once - btw there are quite a few hints that rollins has been a military intelligence/humint asset for many, many years. dunno if that`s true though, but if anyone would like to check out some of the evidence, here it is: forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=205047.0
He's insufferable... I was curious to see how he'd mix with Jonesy. To me they're polar opposites personality wise. Jones is mellow, affable, effortlessly witty and doesn't take himself too seriously. Polar opposite of this pompous uptight wanker....
Yeah, he's definitely (like James Hetfield) lost his balls/has become neutered. He used to be a badass who didn't speak much, but when he did, people listened. Now he just goes on and on and on and yes, he's become quite feminine (has even given up lifting weights as you can see).
