I wonder if one has to keep paying to lease a crypt spot and the tenant's heirs either were no longer keeping up with their dues and had to move the person, or the management is looking for anyone to resume the payments (I don't see where there would be an ossuary for forlorn remains) or the site is again up for grabs.

The picture of the skull shows a very distinct whiteness to the fractured area. This is a recent break, and probably occurred when the crypt was damaged, i.e., a portion of the concrete collapsed and fell on the skull. If this was caused by a perimortem impact, the broken edges would be the same color as the skull. Great video.

Kings Park N.Y. the psych center had its own cemetery. It's an interesting cemetery to visit. Talk about forgotten people. Very sad. If you ever get to N.Y.

Well, even though it was kind of a bust, I'm really glad someone repaired it, and at least you have a picture. Finally, though, a cemetery that takes pride in its grounds. We've seen so many that don't seem to care that it's nice to see a place that does care. Beautiful church, too. I would love to see the inside!

This was a beautiful cemetery walk and in a way, it was nice to see the grave already repaired. The picture of this lady's skull was sufficient! I surely hope that hole wasn't the reason she died!

It is usually possible to tell by seeing if the fracture shows signs of postmortem brittleness or not, but it’s harder with such old bones.

Hello Mr. Ron. Gosh, I have to go back a couple of weeks to view your stories. I've missed out on so many. I've been staying away from social media. I've been depress since I lost my husband back on December 31. It's been very hard months with out him learning to coup with this new journey, just me and my kiddos. I enjoy your stories so much. I am so sorry for your loss. Do you have someone to help you through your grief? There is a group for widows at the church that I used to go to. It helped me to be with other people who knew what I was going through. Maybe there is something like that close to you. God be with you always.

What a beautiful graveyard very well kept. I like it when you do a video exploring these cemeteries/graveyards they are very interesting. The cemetery that you mentioned while in Savannah Ga it's called Colonial Park Cemetery. I loved that sighn Abandoned vault call the office that was funny to come across. It's like someone has lost their final eternal home and wants it back.

The "abandoned tomb" may be due to the person/body being relocated years ago and the grave being forgotten. We have 2 such plots in our church graveyard where they moved the caskets & headstones but the vaults are still in the ground.

I saw a program on tv where ( can’t remember which country) that there are poor people that actually live in the cemetery. The kids were playing on the tombs and the parents cooking and cleaning… it was so so sad to watch this . I see billionaires with so much money they will never spend it and then I see this……. Sickens me . There is enough money in this world that no one has to go hungry or be homeless but that’s always been the way the would works. Rich and poor . Anyway yes I actually live here in Lafayette Louisiana and my daughter and I roam the cemeteries around here and this one is very well kept!!!! I like looking at the very old and barely kept ones . It’s sad to see them forgotten but it’s still intriguing to me. We bring flowers to the little ones!!!

And majority of people on the slums here are poor, but they are not starving, they all got money from the state of Rio de Janeiro, the federal government, and sometimes, from the city, with also their jobs.

Have you ever vlogged in Colorado? Have you heard about the Meeker Massacre? Nathan Meeker was killed by the Utes in northwest Colorado and buried in Lyngrove Cemetery in Greeley in northeast Colorado. He was one of the founders of Greeley but at time of his murder, he was an Indian agent who dug up the Utes pasture to get them to farm. That upset th so they killed him and another man and kidnapped the women. Chief Uray of the Utes got them freed. Check it out sometime.

@@FacesoftheForgotten if you happen to go to Greeley, check out the bus crash that happened when a train hit a school bus killing 28 children, many from the same families. Many are buried in Greeley. Some kids were brothers and sisters from one family. Very sad.😢

This is a very popular church. A lot of wealthy families in this parish give a lot of donations to this church. That’s why it’s so maintained so well. I am a local here in Lafayette. In fact I live 15 min away from this church. To get married in this church you have to reserve a date at least a year in advance. You have to give a minimum of $1500 donation to get married at St John Cathedral.

The reason there are so many crypts above ground there is because of the lowing lying land there, which is prone to flooding, including flooding from hurricanes. I live on the peninsula in MD and we have some cemeteries where there's more of them than usual, usually very near the waterways though. But here they use mostly just the flat plaque type that covers the plot that is used like a tombstone also. But, what I'd like to know is what is an abandoned tomb? Was the person moved elsewhere and this plot is for sale now?

They still make the vaults that way. I used to work with a monument company. They be put up lie you had seen. But they can also be buried underground. If you haven't been there yet, the Abshire Cemetery in Ebenezer outside of Crowley has a lot of history from the Civil War.

These burial plots are huge! It is the sole covering the graves that take up a lot of space. There are crawl spaces so that the coffin does not collapse suddenly or a subsidence of loose earth does not occur... too quickly. There were and still are today laws on the dimensions of a funerary monument to be respected between each tomb so that they do not encroach on each other, etc.

Imagine if enough people got together in groups and had assigned sections to tend to the cemetery you posted besides this one. It wouldn't be as nice but could definitely be improved. Considering the size and obstacles they've done a good job with the upkeep on this one .
