It was sent internationally and changed hands through other businesses and agencies. So in all fairness, the perpetrator could work for Australia Post, the commercial airline that carried the package, the CBSA, or Canada Post.
I miss-addressed a parcel to a relative who has lived on their street for over 20 years. The street has 8 odd numbered houses and 12 even numbered ones. All numbers on the parcel were there, but in the wrong order. It was returned to me at a cost of $17+l. I then repackaged it in a smaller box and fewer items, re-mailed it but paid higher cost because of an increased fuel surcharge plus had 6 trips to and from the postal office when gas was high and at least a 15 minute wait in line each visit. I called in a complaint and was told someone would call me within 2 weeks. I have yet to hear from anyone 6 weeks later. When there was house delivery, the mail people would know who lived on their route and pass mail from postie to postie trying to find the recipient.
"It's like getting car insurance" well, except you don't then ask a car thief to drive your vehicle for you. In the mail, if something is stolen, it happens by someone IN that chain.
Almost had my Xbox Series X taken didn't even bother to leave a sorry we missed you meanwhile I was waiting & tracking it dude drove around with it the whole day till 9:00 pm.
I've noticed Canada Post has in general very poor scanning practices regarding parcels during transit. For the most part it leaves massive "holes" when it comes to being able to successfully keep tabs on one's parcels and to also deter theft.
It is not just Canada post, USPS is just on same level. The problem with shipping internationally is that you have to declare what's inside of the package and it's monetary value. This information is on the shipping documents for customs use probably. The people who are stealing contents of the packages it packages themselves know how the system works and know if the package contains insurance or not, this they look for higher value items and no insurance on the package. This can be done at postal office where package was dropped off, during transit and even upon arrival.
I've had issue with packages being delivered to the wrong house on my street. Fortunatley good people around here but if you have dubious neighbors I could see packages going missing. Never seen a package opened however.
a similar thing happened to me. the parcel disappeared once it was moved to Canada post for delivery in the airport, Vancouver. no way to claim for it. the seller in China was shocked to know that. Shame on you, CANADA POST
Theft is going on in Canada Post in Canada. Waterloo regional police have arrested a 61-year-old Kitchener man after investigating thefts at a Canada Post location. Police received a report from Canada Post's Postal Inspectors of suspected internal thefts from an employee on Tuesday.
just wanted to mention that CP knows your item has been stolen at some point (as your item goes through more than 1 person from point A to B and then back to point A since she returned it and this is where it actually went missing) - CP still has to deliver your empty box (even though it was AUS POST) bc that is their job to do so-all the way to the last dude- the local letter carrier who probably gets the most heat for something that is not their problem. why was being fully compensated not 'good enough'?
The money was to cover for the lost item, but what will cover for the lost of trust and breach of professionalism? It’s not enough, more needs to be done.
Sue them for breach of contract when you use their service and they take your money you and they have entered into a contract you to make sure the address is correct and the item is legal and then to deliver said item intake and on time
