Today I want to introduce you to Kevin, a transgender woman from the Philippines who is a front runner in representing the LGBT community.
Despite living in a Catholic-dominated country, Kevin has gained a lot of attention for winning the most prestigious transgender beauty pageant in the world. She is also the first transgender to represent a huge global brand that caters only towards women.

@@jvjv8093 No, she’s a woman. A transgender woman is a woman assigned a man at birth. Trans women are not a separate gender to women, they are as much of a woman as all other women, only they were once considered male. Trans women are women. Trans men are men.

I want to thank you for making this incredibly compelling, respectful and informative video about Kevin. As a gay man, in my 58 years, I think the tide is changing as folks of your generation really "get it" regarding the LGBTQ community. Instead of concentrating on the sex act, genitals, and other physical matters, you understand that gay is not what you do but who you are. I can't tell you what a sea change this is. Your dissemination of this important message is so important to build bridges & break down barriers which can lead to a more open dialogue. With videos like yours (especially the one from East Timor) I have more hope that gay and queer people can just go about living their daily lives without a second thought as to the person they love or the person they are. Philippines Thailand Japan Taiwan Cambodia Vietnam and China are way more open and accepting towards transgender and GLB people than east European countries even though both were formerly communists.

This kinda gave me some hope:) I am a transman from Europe, and I’m mostly well accepted here. I pass really well and just look like a normal guy, but still have my old name and gender on my passport. I just finished school, and my biggest dream would be to travel, but I am really scared to do that, because most counties don’t protect transgender people in their laws. But seeing this beautiful woman in the philippines just living her life kinda gave me hope, so thank you:))

I think the problem with LGBT movement is not that it's any different from like "conventional", heterosexual things, but the fact that it's too sexual to be part of public speaking. Almost as if they were pushing this so they could talk about sex into the ears of kids so they can spoil them. I don't have a single problem with LGBT people just keep it where it belongs. I don't need my kids to be exposed to convos about straight sex either.

I appreciate the ally sentiment, but you basically just promoted a model’s Instagram account and then told us be happy and express ourselves. Many trans people can’t just express themselves for fear of violent retaliation. Trans people are still forced into prostitution because 1) nobody else will give them a job 2) society fetishizes and sexualizes them Trans people suffer from higher rates of suicide because of the constant discrimination. My country is facing a political push to criminalize homosexual intercourse in Indonesia and LGBTQ topics have been censored in the media since 2016 (despite topics cross-dressing and certain forms of gender non-conformity being popular and significant in some of the local cultures). Raising visibility would do so much!

If I get to recommend one Vlog topic you should feature on Filipino Culture... Boys Circumcision at the age of 8 - 12. This normally happens during summer vacation where the kids dont have to go to school and will have time to heal after the circumcision... Procedures could be the traditional circumcision where in there's no anesthesia and only using guava leaf as disinfectant. Other procedures are done in Medical clinics but the most common are Mass circumcision usually done by the army or some medical volunteers. Every Filipino young boys go through as a right to manhood.

@durgesh patel Thats so disrespectful. Im not a part of the LGBT+ community but i stand by it. Yes she may be biologically a male but she likes to express herself as a woman, try to respect that. Many people really struggle with gender so putting pressure on them wont help. Let them be who they are and the world will be a better place.😊😊😊
