Her vocalized 'noises' in this is called Keening in Ireland (5:42 ) . It's a type of mourning song. It very closely resembles someone sobbing over a loved ones passing. She does it justice in this song. I had to tell my own mother my brother passed away. The sound of a mother crying out for her child who is gone is haunting, and I feel those two kids who motivated this song (died in a random bombing on mothers day while buying her a card) were given their proper. Enjoyed the reaction. Lead singer is Dolores "Riordan. RIP.

When I first(and only once) heard that cover 2yrs ago I automatically thought, "ok, how can they possibly do this song justice and make it feel right?" I was skeptical but the emotion came through. I'll have to give them more credit now that I know she was on board with the idea and that it wasn't a simple money grab or something like that by Bad Wolves.

Grew up listening to them when they finally broke into the US music stream being back then that alone was a feat for most bands overseas. That song was written based off Ireland's at that time current events that was going on that most of the world wasn't completely aware of until they released the song and video. Delores did get a bunch flak from Ireland's government because they didn't want the world to know what was really going on there. They were part of the exposure type bands that came to the music scene back in the 80s-90s. Another one of those bands was Gorky Park. Their official video for My Generation shows what some of the things Russian citizens were dealing with up until the fall of the USSR and the Berlin wall fell. For us kids it was eye opening to know and see first hand just how other countries treated their citizens via music videos instead of just reading it in history books or national geographic movies shown in school.

"Zombies" refers to the idea of people and generations fighting with no real idea of why they are fighting each other- factions of people living in the same place. Historically Britain/ England trying to overtake Ireland, - managed to take a small square of the place, but church became involved too. Huge disputes between Catholic and Protestant, fights led to tanks, military, bombs, many killings. Idealism and political goals became forgotten, and generations grew up as "zombies", simply fed hatred in a divied society.

The lead singer is in irish-born lady that passed away in 2017 from an alcohol-related drowning. Her name was Dolores O'Riordan'. The song she wrote zombie was a result of two young men being killed or boys in 1993 in Northern Ireland caused by the troubles and the IRA. Dolores's voice control at the end of her notes as she rolls off and up as throwing your voice kind of is called keening. It is a practice used in singing at Irish funerals.. a war protest song leaning heavily towards Los pain and becoming numb to the bombs and the guns and child abductions because they needed fighters they were forced. Really difficult time in Ireland during the 20th century from 1916 Forward. Study History!

The control you hear in her voice Is from her background in yodelling. In fact there are some songs out there of her just yodelling. She definitely had a unique voice. Check out ANY song on the "No Need to Argue" album. It won't disappoint. RIP DOLORES 🙏

When I was young, my mother read the paper one morning and was crying. I asked her what was wrong and she tried to explain about the conflict between two groups of people that caused the death of some incident children. Later this song came out and it hit me to the core. I'm passionate about my beliefs, but if someone has a different point of view that's fine, I don't hold that against them.

The front woman's name was Dolores O Riordan she died by drowning due to alcohol intoxication at 46 yrs old found submerged in her bathtub at London's Park Lane Hilton Hotel in 2018. Such a beautiful voice.

Sadly the scars of the past turmoil can still be seen in Ireland. I was so sad when Dolores passed away, such a talent and gone much too early. The songs "Linger" and "Dreams" are absolutely fantastic and a must listen. They had me as a fan from the first album they released and I own every CD they did. This band is remarkable and it's totally because of Dolores O'Riordan and her haunting voice that is so versatile and carries such emotion into their songs. They have so many good songs it's hard for me to suggest because you'd have a huge list so the one's I did mention will start you at the beginning of this bands journey.

Thank you SO much for reacting to my favorite band♥ I miss Dolores O'Riordan every day. They have a couple more well-known songs like "Linger" and "Dreams", maybe even "When you're gone" or "Ode to my family". Hopefully you can react to these too :)

The band is from Limerick Ireland and formed in 1989. The lead singer is Delores O' Riordan but unfortunately she was found in a swimming pool dead in 2018 from an accidental drowning. They decided to disband in 2019 because Delores was the sound of the band and without her voice the band could never be the same. They were considered the best alternative rock band of the 90s and won numerous awards. Love watching your reactions. Love the energy you two bring to your videos. Keep rocking those tunes 🤘🏻
