I haven’t heard this in a long time. A woman who was a very big part of my life for 10 years put this on a mixtape she made for me back in 2001 when we first started dating. I’m feeling very nostalgic for that time in my life. It was one of the best. I had left my wife and taken custody of my children. She came along and lifted me up to my biggest successes in life. Time has passed. Things are no longer as optimistic and I’m jaded. And she’s far away both in my past and on the planet. Not that I’d go back to her, but she will always have a place in my heart. Awesome reaction.
Roswell was one of my favorite shows in my late teens and early 20s. Its just a shame it ended so soon. There was such potential in it, but the writers couldn't decide what to do half the time, and the execs wouldn't quit meddling with it either. The only actor that graduated up the ladder was Katherine Heigl, which is a shame since most of the cast were very solid in their craft.

Such a hypnotic song! This song was used as the theme song to the TV show Roswell that premiered in 1999 (don't know if the later remake also used it or not), and I was spellbound. I still consider the pilot to that show one of the best pilots I've ever watched for any tv show, and hearing this song every week was captivating. I HAD to go find more music by Dido after hearing this one! This is the one that started my love of her music. So glad you both enjoyed it too! :) Now I'm off to watch y'all get creeped out by American Psycho! LOL :D
Such a beautiful vocalist. The first track on the "No Angel" album, brings you right back to one of the finest albums of the 2000's. Now I want to hear "Hunter" and "Don't Think of Me." Definitely do more Dido, you can't go wrong.

I have a hard time listening to Kaleidoscope because she pronounces that word in such an odd way, but it is a great song otherwise. I also can't think of a song of hers I don't love. She does such an incredible performance on each one! 😊

Roswell is one of my favorite shows if all time and I loved this song being used for the theme song. Dido has such an amazing voice. Some great hits and music from that show and time period.

The mummers dance was remade as an electronic dance song.. I am grateful to the remix for Introducing me to loreena, but after hearing the "official" unplugged book of secrets, I could never listen to the electric music again. Her voice and authentic instrumentation is sublime.

The lead singer, Sharon den Adel, featured in one of Armin Van Buuren's songs ("In And Out Of Love") and her singing ability was clear, so I looked up who she was. If you haven't listened to them before, have a listen to "Angels", "Faster", and "Solemn Hour".

Many have already said this song was made famous by the TV show "Roswell", and it kick off Dido's career. The tv show played a lot of unknown Artist at the time who would go on to fame. In 2002 they released a Roswell Soundtrack of 12 songs. I bought the soundtrack then and have played it once a week for 21 years. One of the greatest soundtracks of all time. It is going to be played at my funeral.

I think this song is darker than most realise. Dido's songs are often not easy listening evfn though they have many characteristics of. I hear in Dido's voice in between her angelic tones a darker tone in between. There's a subtle darkness to her singing
I previously worked for Nettwerk Music/Management. We represented Dido as her North American management from 1999 to 2007. We immediately loved her when her U.K. manager introduced us to her music. Just as we were planning how to promote her in N. America, we got lucky when Rapper Eminem & his people contacted us about sampling Dido's song "Thank You" in his song "Stan". We even got her to act in the video as Stan's girlfriend.
I bet at the time many though Dudo was a glamorous actress who lipsynched to the song instead of her being the actual sampled singer. I feel like everybody had a huge crush on Dido right from the get go.
I will always think of the teen Sci-Fi TV series "Roswell" from around the same time (late '90s?). Dido"s "Here With Me" was the opening theme song. The show ran 3 seasons and was pretty popular. That's about 75 times I heard this before finally springing for the vinyl. Looong time sub saying "Thanks" for the reaction.

Yes! I’m so glad you reacted to another Dido song! 🙌 I was obsessed with her debut album especially this song. Please react to two more amazing UK bands for Female Friday, The Corrs and Texas! The Corrs were especially popular late nineties, early 2000s and are three sisters and a brother from Ireland. Their most popular song stateside was “Breathless” but they also did a really cool cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” with electronic dance beats mixed with Irish fiddle and tin whistle. Very cool. Texas is a Scottish band that started late eighties but are still very popular. Their front woman Sharleen Spiteri has an amazing voice! “Summer Son”, “Say What You Want”, and “Put Your Arms Around Me” are great songs to start with. I’m pretty sure I’ve commented about Texas several times but I’ll just keep reminding you until you react to them Lol 😉
Dido's voice has such a soft, melancholic beauty to it that you cannot help but be touched by it. Fell in love with her from the first song I heard on the radio, the one you're thinking of Jay, the song 'Thank You', from her 1st album. "White Flag' is off her 2nd which is awesome all the way through as well. Sadly, at that time, 03/4, life happened and I never did get any of her other work, you could say that my spirit had moved on from that phase and I didn't need any more from her than what she had already given. Her music, which still rests softly in my memory. Loving Dido's voice, you really should check out a contemporary of hers, Nina Gordon, who released a solo just a yr or 2 earlier (she started out as cofounder of the alt. rock band, 'Veruca Salt' with her solo music being a complete departure from that style). Her voice has the same quality to wrap itself around your heart and envelope you in a..., vibe/mood/emotional cloud of almost celestial beauty..., I just gave a relisten to her 1st song, 'Tonight and the Rest of My Life'..., it's been a few yrs since I've listened to this song at this point..., yeah, it broke me down into smiling tears..., all the triggered emotional memories just came flooding in, hitting almost spiritual meanings for me..., yeah, I'm in love all over again. Gonna have to listen to both Dido and Nina's 1st 2 albums again. Seriously, thank you both for this. I think I needed it.

This was the first Dido song I'd heard and which made me buy her debut album 'No Angel'. Which often sounds sombre and melancholic, but it's very good! Crazy to think it was released 22 years ago already! 🤯 My life had been in the process of changing massively then, too.
I think you two were looking for the word "haunting" to describe her voice. This song gives me the chills every time I hear it. Amber was right on with what she said about it, hitting harder or differently at different points. When it first came out, I was at the beginning of a bad break-up. When I rediscovered it, I was traveling a lot, and leaving my newly wed wife. It's just a powerful song.

One of my favorite all time song from Dido. Everytime I hear that song I miss the show Roswell. I lived 2 hours away from Roswell, New Mexico. I miss going there all the time and going to the Crash Down Festival. Katherine Heigl is my favorite Alien on the show Roswell based on the book Roswell High.
