I'm from Tijuana. I am so proud that Herb Alpert decided to name his band The Tijuana Brass, and that he also has a song named Tijuana Taxi. He's like an embassador to my hometown. He also has helped my city in other ways, like donating a hospital which is 3 blocks from where I live. Thank you Mr. Alpert for everything you have done for my hometown.
That is so wonderful to hear and you should be rightly proud. Australian here and love the fun music this gentleman and his band have given the world. Absolute icon!
Herb Alpert was the reason why I decided to play TRUMPET instead of the drums! I started playing when I was just 9 years old and my parents took me to MUSICLAND here in Tucson Arizona. I couldn't join the school band until I was 10 years old. By then, I already knew how to play Tijuana Taxi and Spanish Flea. I did this just by listening to him play those tunes. I always played by ear. After I got into the band, we had a concert for the parents. At the end, they gave us a STANDING OVATION and the Band Director asked us if we wanted to play Tijuana Taxi! The Band Director, Mr. Webb, acquired the sheet music after he heard me and my audition for 1st chair, 1st trumpet. Thanks to Herb Alpert, I was 1st chair, 1st Trumpet, my entire 8 year school career. I joined the Navy and had my Trumpet shipped to me in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. My shipmates and I put together a jazz band and we played all over the South PACIFIC OCEAN!! Thank you Mr. Alpert and God bless you and your family.
Loved ur music since I was a little girl in Ohio!! In 1979 ur song RIse is when I graduated from high school!! Thank u Herb!! By the way I still remember that one special album cover from the 60s!! Dad loved it!! Love you!!
My family and I watched most all of the variety shows back then and we all enjoyed hearing Herb and the Brass. Those braid-twirling "dancers" are in their 80's now so that puts me in my entrance to my 70's. Yipes!! Happy and Healthy 2024 to all!
I grew up listening to this and many other amazing music works by Herb, he was my fathers favorite. I loved it when he did Rise back in the 70's when I was a young teen. Now I am a 57 year old man, and it sure does feel good to hear Herb's music now and again. There is nothing like it out there today....pure class, makes me feel young again!
I think this LP and song was one of 3 albums my parents had while I was growing up. That's how popular The Tijuana Brass was in the 1960s. The other two were The Clancy Brothers and Johnny Cash.
Seen Herb Albert & the TJB. 1 year in the 60's between The Folk and Jazz Festivals. He walked off the stage after 45 minutes.Asked the audience to put the umbrellas down it had started to rain. He said the audience was most rude he ever seen

those guys are playing magical guitars....no amp cords needed. most likely they are just pretending to play to a fine recording so no real mistakes can occur before a live audience.
