I just saw a video of a "In the field" senior reporter, having a fight with his boss, and the senior tells him "I was your boss", and the other replies "And you are no more, how did that happened?"...I wonder if it was the inpsiration for Herb Welch...

I love it when they defend him. Honestly I think he’s canonically at the very least 100. He looks that good and can still formulate somewhat coherent sentences. He also served in Vietnam so also another reason to respect him a little bit. Anyone else in his position would either just mumble gibberish the whole or literally fall down dead.
