She is in Disney's version, which is why his 12 labors are done in montage of "Zero to Hero." They're not repentance for his killing his kids, but more his road to becoming a real hero.

I was talking about Meg being killed by Hercules because of Hera because Lily was talking about how later in his life Hercules killed Meg and I was just saying that it wasn't Hercules' fault.

@@yuvalsela4482 imagine if this movie had Poseidon as the antagonist. it would be more reasonable since Poseidon always had a grudge against zeus due to being considered lesser over his brother. hell when greeces capital was going to be named Poseidon wished to name it after him but he lost this chance to one of zeus's daughters. also with the titans sealed in the ocean depts that would mean that Poseidon wouldn't need to cross any territorial borders since the seas are his domain.

Watching this now knowing the stories of Hercules I'm wondering why Hera was sad he was gone because a: he's not Heras child, but between Zeus and a mortal named Alcmene and B: she tried to kill him multiple times and screwed him out of a crown. Heracles is the name in Greek, meaning 'Glory of Hera'. Hercules is the Roman name, which seems to have stuck.

@@samwallaceart288 well, you are in part correct. But, if you look at the current scape of Broadway, the music sets, themes, styles and tempos vary from show to show. The music from Phantom of the Opera (operatic broadway) is greatly different from Hamilton (hip hop) which is different from Hairspray (Motown and 50s doo wop) which is different from Seussical (broadway) which is different from Paggliacci (opera) which is completely different from Mean Girls (power pop) or Spring Awakening (grunge). Which of those shows may be around to serve as living musical examples of our society 4000 years from now, only time can tell. I did, however, make a mistake in thinking you meant music the ancient Greeks used in shows rather than music in general. I can't say much for what they had in general, but the plays we have that have survived from ancient Greece to now, all of the music is just loud dirges sang by choruses and background actors. Even in the comedies. Also, "gospel music" as exampled in this movie didn't come about until after the creation of rock & roll. Maybe a bit before as history tries to hide what black people have done. But I wouldn't place it before 1950A.D. and the times between the fall of ancient Greece up to the era of modern music (1770-present) were greatly at the mercy of illiteracy, wandering minstrels and the church.

So if someone wishes to question what was happening at this time, not only are songs recorded, but also Billboard/Oricon charts track which songs were popular in each genre and for how long and which years. Ancient Greece had limited resources of leisure, so the live theater is where they got everything at once. A show, music, porn, drinks, friends...all of it.

Dude, of all of Hercules's 4 wives, why Megara? In fact her personality might better fit...woa, wow, this is some marvel level of bull, let's run down the list shall we? 1. Hercules is one of Zeus's flings, he only has super strength because Hera was tricked into breastfeeding him. 2. Hercules is the roman hero, Heracles is the Greek. Everything else in this movie is Greek so he should be too. 3. Hercules has a twin. 4. Hercules fought Hades once (that I can remember) he was resueing Theseus from the underworld because Theseus had been imprisoned there for trying to help a friend kidnap Prosefiny. Hercules shot Hades with an arrow and that's it. 5. (As we all know) Hercules killed Megara and their children. 6. It was Diasomthinsomthin that was kidnapped by a centaur, not Megara. 7. Megara is a princess, not a slave to Hades. 8. He got poisoned arrows from the Hydra. 9. He killed the Hydra with the help of his nephew and sometimes lover. 10. They compleatly neglected his trials. 11. He doesn't diside to stay on earth. Diasomthinsomthin smears centaur blood on the inside of his shirt, and he sets himself on fire. 12. In doing so he becomes immortal. The end.

fun fact! my friend's animation professor was actually the lead animator of meg in this movie. i think after this movie she begged to animate kuzco in The Emperor's New Groove, because disney had(has?) very strict rules about how leading ladies are animated, and she found it to be kind of stiff and uninteresting compared to animating side characters/male leads.

Fun fact: Hercules is the Roman name. Heracles is the Greek version so that hopefully Hera would be charmed into not trying to kill him at every possible opportunity. It did not work.

Hades said that Hercules would get his strength back once someone performs an act of self-sacrifice, that happened. Hades allowed Hercules to try and get Meg back. He didn’t interfere.

There was no bargain - Hades just tricked Herc into jumping into the River Styx thinking he'd die before reaching Meg. He never intended to let Meg go. For the bargain to be valid, Hades has to actually uphold his end.

Because it was supposed to be the Spice Girls, who backed out at the last minute due to scheduling conflicts. That’s why there are 5 of them. Gospel singers were a last minute replacement.

Let's not forget how this film glosses over the fact that Zeus cheated on Hera with a mortal woman to conceive Herc (Roman name *Hera*cles in a totally failed attempt to kiss her ass) by yaddayaddaing a mortality potion in there, cuz adultery isn't Disney-kosher.

That feel when you look back on Disney's Hercules after going through Greek mythology in your English/Lit classes. Disney has lied to me about so many things....that and I think my prof got off on showing the real stories Disney based a lot of its movies on.

This movie isn’t a good adaption of Greek myths. Mainly cause the people making the film honestly didn’t care, and they were more focused on getting inspiration from superhero comic books. Mostly taking from Superman. The RU-vid channel 2nd Look, has made a good video on the movie. If you’re interested in learning more about the film, it’s a good watch.
