In this episode I provide the history of the Buick Reatta, a two-seater coupe introduced in 1988 as an attempt to bring in younger buyers to Buick. Buick was originally hoping for the Allante, but that instead went to Cadillac. Although it sold better than its closest competitor, the Chrysler TC by Maserati, it also had a touchscreen display shared with the Buick Riviera that was too far ahead of its time, and aggravated so many owners that Buick dropped the touchscreen just two years later. A convertible created by American Sunroof Corp (ASC) was introduced in 1990, but sales never came close to the 20,000 per year projection, with the last model year of 1991 resulting in only around 21,000 total built over 4 years.
