Mid to high 20's my ass Especially 4X4 20ish is possible with a light steady foot and under 70 The only way you're going to see upper 20's is a steady 45 mph and no stops. Which I can also get with my 3.5 ecoboost 4X4 But 65+ interstate speeds in a brick uses fuel with any truck.
Same. Very niche opinion, but I think going from an NA engine to slapping a half baked twin turbo engine in everything is just a lazy way of producing vehicles.
@LiL BEAST If you actually believe, that a NA toyota engine, is just as reliable as a turbocharged engine, then your fooling yourself. In the long term, the V8 will out shine the forced Induction. I'm not saying that Toyota didn't do their jobs and make a reliable turbo engine. What I am saying is, if I were to buy a NEW truck now, it wouldn't be a Toyota.
I just got mine this week, I got a artic white with the red seats trdpro tundra and its sick! 437 hp good gas mileage and I was hating on the engine sound but it grows on you and I actually like it the sound now. Its an absolute beast of a truck!
V6 hybrid option make sense as long as they fully leverage its utility as much as they do its economy. But for the commercial market, the lack of a v8 option is going to hurt them in the long run.
I'm a Toyota fan boy because they have treated me right. Still own 2003 Tacoma, 2015 V6 XSE, and just purchased used 2021 Tundra SR5 4x4 ... for the world of me, I cannot comprehend why anyone (unless work truck) would buy a full sized pickup for a daily driver 🤔
You can’t comprehend how a person would buy a full size truck for their daily? Maybe take into account their lifestyle. Only have the means to keep one vehicle, then they need the space and capacities of a full size truck. Or they just don’t want to ride around in a small econo box.
I'm in sales. Company gives me enough for the payment and pays for my gas. Perhaps you should think outside your own 'world' a bit. Or/and the person just has the money and likes it.
@lilBEAST Of course it's a bit stronger and faster, that's not what I'm referring to. I'm referring to the sound. Don't like it when auto manufacturers pump in fake sound.
@lilBEAST I'm also not a fan of turbos on vehicles. Mainly because it compromises longevity - but that's just a personal preference. Unfortunately whether I like it or not, all manufacturers are moving in that direction. That or electric.
Yeah, but in 15 years you'll have to replace that tablet of a screen on your Laramie longhorn, or King Ranch. You won't have parts most likely or AC controls when it dies. That in general is a sucky idea.
Toyota Tundra had the best V8 in 5.7 I Force, to twin turbo V6 , they didn't think about anyone towing over 7,000 pounds, Toyota should more options for customers and keeping 5.7 I Force V8 ice.
@@chevyon37s the hybrid is average at best and getting embarrassing fuel numbers. Add in the fact they had to design a complete new cooling system, we already know the reliability won't be as strong as the previous V8. And then add in all the places this truck went backwards, all the piss poor design cues , and sub par quality, this truck is a loser.
In person, you really notice how God damn cheap it feels. Flimsy panels, littered with cheap plastic every where and the interior quality is bland and sub par at best.
Love TFL, you guys do a great job. With that said I have a 15 year old (2008) F150 that gets 18.5 mpg on average & it's nothing but gas, so for a truck that's 14 years newer & part hybrid that not to good.
It may end up being the design of trucks in the future but I don't care an awful lot for that grill that goes all the way down the bumper. I would also be interested if it requires different attachments for an aftermarket bumper or if it simply isn't much of an option
$69,000 is pretty reasonable for what you get. I think the Hybrids are the only versions where the twin-turbo V-6 makes sense. Otherwise, you're sacrificing too much engine longevity. Don't get me wrong, it's totally worth it to drop a factory rebuilt engine under the hood, if needed, when the rest of the truck is good for a million miles. Toyota will quickly get that engine sorted until they're getting a million miles out of it. However, over that life span, horsepower is sure to drop-off, at least to a lesser extent, because of wear in the turbos.
I dont carr what anyone says about the Tundra - I will always go for Toyota before any brand..their customer service generally speaking is all about efficiency and the outcomes
TFL is trying to hop on the short format reviews like some RU-vidrs are really good at. This seems forced. I would stick to what you do and try not to follow trends.
How did the engineers fail that hard? A TT V6 hybrid getting only 20mpg is horrendous. Before I sold my v6 Gladiator, I was getting 22mpg highway, and that thing was about as aerodynamically challenged as any non-commercial truck on the market.
My 2004 S10 will get that kind of milage and better with a naturally aspirated V6. Best part: no battery electric system on board, paid for, and proven to be reliable.
It’s over for me since they got rid of the v8 and it’s legendary reliability for 2mpg and put in a trash v6 hybrid system that is already showing issues for many people. People just want the shiny new thing though and Toyota saved money downsizing the engine and got government points while customers get screwed
The F150 will & has smoked that thing. And Toyoda has had nothing but trouble with it, from engine trouble to rear end & turbo trouble. Should've stayed off the wagon & left the V8 in it.
WTF? No it doesn't. It sounds very similar but even louder vs a stock F-150. In their tests it performed less than the similar F-150. So there is that too. I'm still happy with my EcoBoost. I just won't put a loud exhaust on it.
I put a Borla s type on my 3.5 and it sounds like half of a Maserati 😃 I like blasting the "slow on purpose people" when I pass them. With tow/ haul & sport mode it is almost like an active exhaust and can be loud or quiet depending on your foot and mode.
65k that's it?!! I was quoted 65k for sr5. That twin turbo v6, no thanks! That interior looks small. It's a pavement princess. What ever happened to Toyota? They used to build Rugged pickup trucks! I went a different direction after being a Toyota owner for over 20 years!
A the gas mileage is absolutely rubbish and a complete embarrassment. My 2021 Stage 2 whipple supercharged Roush F150 kicking out 775hp and I get a tip over 17mpg in eco mode..
I get 20 MPG in my 5.0 Mustang. I know it’s not a full size truck but will say it’s time for Toyota to bring the V8 back. Also must add the exhaust note this truck makes is horrible.
Love how Toyota fanboys say but but it’s reliable will outlast anything and the truck isn’t even out yet lol. Lots of recalls you watch. Their v8 was reliable after 15 years.
My 3 inch lifted 2021 Titan pro4x v8 all the time on 33s gets 19mpg on the highway constantly on i95 and i26 doing 70-80mph My 2016 6 inch lifted ram 1500 on 35s would pull 17mpgs My dads 2015 Chevy 5.3 stock pulls 22mpg same routes You did nothing impressive here Toyota besides leave tow hooks off a off-road truck which is a joke.
Coming from F150 and GMC Sierra.. There is nothing like Toyota 4x4 system. I drove 2001 Lexus Lx470 and it refuses to breakdown. So I think you should stick to ice-cream.
