The 57-year-old orca now known as “Toki” retired from her performances as “Lolita” at the Miami Seaquarium stadium in Virginia Key, and the seaquarium’s leadership admits it’s time to get her out.
And now she's dead, 57 years in captivity, her only way out from that miserable place was through passing away. I haven't gone to a zoo or aquarium since I was a kid. Since a kid, I've known this is wrong.
Don’t buy tickets to Sea aquariums or Zoos all these intelligent majestic animals need to be return to their family’s in the Salish Sea or place in a sea sanctuary. I can’t believe she’s still there. Her freedom has been fought for since 1993!! She will do fine in the ocean. She will THRIVE!! Get her into the ocean near her pod, monitor her/them for a while, then let her go back home!!! She didn’t forget her pod’s language.. she didn’t forget any of it!! They didn’t forget HER! She’s ready to go!!! Tokitea is also named “Lolita” She was taken in 1970, this girl is decades old, but that doesn’t mean she can’t live decades longer in the ocean..where she belongs. She was taken at 6 years old, not 4. And her pod is L25. That pod has females in it that are approximately 100 years old!! She was stolen from Puget Sound, Washington, along with several other family members. They all died in that hellhole!! Lolita is the only survivor. These people know exactly where her pod is and that the pod will remember her and she will remember them.. She should’ve been released DECADES AGO!! I'm confident the only reason that this animal may ever be freed is because of the pressure activists have put on their facility. hell, there's a guy being sued right now for whistleblowing and exposing the horrendous conditions at the Seaquarium. so ya, people are doing what they can and not just typing comments....
So tragic Lolita was taken as a calf half a century ago & never got to swim in freely in the ocean again humanity stole her life completely failed, such intelligent majestic creature 😥🐬💔
I PROMISE YOU, if they return her to her pacific home, her pod would recognize her, and she would recognize them. They would definitely take care of her if she were to be COMPLETELY released.
I promise you, if they return her to her pacific home, her pod would NOT recognize her. If they do recognize her, they will NOT accept her. The whale will remain totally dependent on humans and will hang out by the shore or by the closest harbor, where it will interact with humans only, as humans will provide it with its only social life. If the whale gets lucky, it will die of old age by the shores and harbor. If the whale is unlucky, it will get accidentally ran over by a boat (because it will live near the harbor/ shore) and die a long painful death. The situation is f***ed no matter what way we look at it. Even if, by some miracle, the orca is accepted by its original pod or by a new pod, there is no shot whatsoever that the whale is going to be able to keep up with the wild whales. Also, its probably going to struggle eating because its used to getting its food hand fed to it. its just so messed up, i wish people would stop going to see whales at these types of places so that the sea world like places stop doing this to poor whales.
If you were in charge, you would condemn this whale to an extremely sad, lonely, and painful death. We have seen whales get released before. We have even seen whales get released, find a local pod, and decide not to travel with the pod. To these whales, human beings are their pod. They are gonig to stay where they were released and wait where all humans are for its food and to socialize. its incredibly sad because it will get a whole let less human interaction in the wild than it would in its enclosure
@@Hello-ig1pxshe is the only whale that should be released. Letting kieko go was a stunt to show it cant be done. Her pod is wailing for her and it's been shown they call to each other. They survive by staying together for life. Why would anyone think kieko could make it on his own. He was not young to be taken in by another pod. Returning to her family is the only way.
Her hearing her own cries in a little pool, she deserves freedom. Ir someone is gonna send a private seals will have to go in and rescue her...seriously

Shame I'm a so called "human". 57 years passed by... think about this release and leave her all alone...instead of being negative let us hope that she will be swimming in the real ocean and NOT in a small concrete swimming pool which she survived for 50 some years.The ONE and ONLY.
Only concern is he said get her out of there so they can fix up the stadium area. Wouldn’t trust these guys that own huge multimillion parks based off of cheap conditions for animals
in Canary Island we have a huge problem 3 orcas died in the last 18 months! Used as clowns 3 shows per day no day off! please help us to stop this shame! Loro Parque Tenerife is a nightmare
That pool is way too small for an oven animal. This is a damn shame that ant animal should be treated this way. They made their money and have keep her in horrid conditions.

Shoulda done this much sooner. I fear for her though. The stress an animal that old and enclosed in the same place for over 40 years. I’d be surprised if she lived a year after being transferred
Sea pen set her free and maybe than she can go back into the ocean she has been in this abusive sea show industry for years poor orca and all the sealife in these horrible sea parks swimming in pools
I think we have to start putting signs in walking to Miami Seaquarium and letting them know we have not forgotten about Lolita she needs to be freed she needs to have a better outcome then Kiska the lonely or cat died in human Camp Bow by herself in a small tank
The problem with that is that she needs to be taught how to hunt first or she wouldn’t last long. But maybe since her family does remember her, they will make sure she is well taken care of. Her mother is believed to still be alive at 95 years old.

Even other living beings suffer from mental illness due to lack of freedom because of humans At my home, one love bird suffers from depression and has no feathers.. athinte tholli thanne kannum.. when consulted with the vet .. she told they themselves pluck the feathers due to irritation
It never ceases to amaze me what man will do for a buck. They torture poor elephants at circuses, exploit wild animals at the zoos, and rip the hearts out of sea creatures by stealing their babies and then using those babies. Makes me sick.
I agree. Its like no one needs a circus with animals anymore and same with these seaquariams. If they are injured and cant live in the wild ok. But we as humans need to let the wild be wild and quit thinking they are there to entertain us.
It's so sad bcas these animals willfully show their beauty in the wild! Even knowing they & their families have been hunted and captured by humans, to cage them for forced entertainment for profit. Sad that freedom shows were never enough for humans. I hope she's released in my lifetime. Sooner rather than later.

Where is the Urgency where is the action where is the revealing of exactly what the steps are making sure that she does make it because Kiska died Kiska didn’t make it Kiska died up in Canada alone will that be her fee we need to ask them sooner than later
