6 years later, here's a second-hand perspective: Love mine. Replaced a 2010 Dodge Caliber with it early last year since that piece of crap had major issues that were "fixed" under warranty. Just wish it actually averaged closer to 44 mpg. I track my fuel with a app and average 33.6. Start n' Stop doesn't bother me but it is trippy and certainly gets a few honks from inpatient people who want you to go from 0 to 45 in the microsecond after a light turns green. But the Honda Toyota reliability thing? Definitely there. Only issue I've had was my passenger window regulator screwed up and wouldn't close the window right.

Hello Sir. I just wanna ask you. During using hybrid civic have you got any problem with hybrid system or something battery? I wanna buy that one used and will use it for my family. Don't like drive to fast. Will drive it only city not in highway. Do you recommend Civic hybrid fb7 case?.

@@najafhabibov I haven't had any issues with the battery myself and the car has been wonderfully reliable. It uses fully synthetic which was sort of expected so oil changes are on the higher end of the price spectrum, but because it's so reliable and I haven't had ANY mechanical problems that weren't aesthetic/comfort in nature (window regulator on my passenger side door made window janky, fixed) I definitely would recommend! However I don't know if my Civic Hybrid is just underperforming or if it's trickery in the numbers, but I am averaging ~34 mpg and I'm no lead foot but do drive primarily city which it said shouldn't matter but probably does, so if a traditional gas engine Civic is also around I believe they get somewhere pretty close to that I may say that is equally good if you want to eliminate the concern of the hybrid system should there be catastrophic failure of that since that's a massive expense (but of course rarely actually happens that way).

I drive a 2010 Civic Hybrid here in the UK, and have just had a new IMA battery fitted under warranty (8yr). Nice car to drive and I average 48mpg (UK Gallons) I have had 55mpg on a long run. The stop start I have no problems with, except that you need to keep your foot on the brake to activate it. Not good at night when there is someone behind you in traffic. Although we do get a spare tyre (low speed narrow one)

That review was damn near perfect. Great job. Personal opinion was there, details, information, and really well-done video recording. You know your stuff and it shows. Plus you were actually quite funny. I chuckled a few times. PS: I don't mind the glasses that much ;)

You're lucky over there Dave - almost every new car released in the UK seems to have stop-start now. Some systems I've driven are really annoying and give you a slight delay in acceleration pulling out of junctions.

I actually would like to drive it. I used to own a 2008 Civic with manual transmision and the transmission rocked! I now owe a 2013 BMW 3 series also mt and the manual isn't nearly as good as the Honda one :)

I would love to see someone compare a hybrid to its conventional counterpart. Take the MSRPs, equally loaded and the EPA combined ratings. Then do the math to find out how many miles you have to drive in order to break even money wise. How about it?

Its Hybrid IMA - It charge the batteries which are on the back seats therefor the back seats will not fold down . IMA will push the power into the engine when you accelerate and when you are not it will again charge the batteries to re use them back which saves lots of fuel its very economical car when driving and i still have 2006 Model perfectly working without any issue 170000 KM now on my car.

By the hf instead, in the real world they get basically the same highway mpg and in the city the hybrid is only about 35% more efficient...I'm basing this off of consumer reports test number where they got 21 city 49 hwy in the hf and 28 city 50 hwy in the hybrid

Do you honestly know how many variables there are to consider in Fuel eco?? I have the '03 model - I get up to 51 mpg when driving long commutes on the highway. You have to drive efficiently.

I drove one of these with a friend just last week. First thing i noticed was the horrible rear sight lines, and how the rear deck is bulbous and protrudes outward. Its sitting nearly at a 30 degree angle. I thought it was just because of the battery pack. But when we drove an EX for comparison, it had the same deck. Annoying. As good as the Hybrid is, the EX gets marginally less economy at ~33-35 mixed. I dont think an extra $2.5k in price is worth 3 MPG, and a soul sucking driving experience.

(1) Letting the engine "purr" when stopped makes unnecessary pollution. That would be inconsiderate to your neighbors' lungs. (2) If you really want, you can defeat the autostop by turning-off the econ button or leaving AC on .
