MOTORCYCLE UPDATES & A WASH
As you know my brakes were giving me trouble this Spring, so please enjoy this video of me getting you up to speed on what went wrong on my Ducati (while I give it a much needed wash). We'll touch on the cost of repairs, plans for mods, and what's new in my world this summer.
And yes I do need to tighten my chain.

glad to know the brakes weren't tampered with and just needed a quick bleeding! and girl i feel your pain on the aftermarket seat prices, i've been looking for my bike too and the prices are crazy.

Yeah and you want to get a a good one, but at the end of the day you just sit on it! lol. I'm sure they're complex to upholster but its a brutal investment 😩

Watching/listening to you here has hints of a Bob Ross vibe while he painted. Very chill and pleasant. Agree with the iPad like instruments. The more tech the bike has the more turned off I get.

After foaming the chain with a degreaser, you should also re-oil the chain.

Chain slack is high on the Duc compared to other bikes. Try sitting on it and have someone look at your slack then.

Hi Megan. With the low brake preasure, my 1994 Yamaha Vmax has the same issue at the start of every season. It gets cold here in Iowa, so I don't ride during the winter. Which means my bike sits for up to 6 months without use. So at the start of every season, I bleed the brakes and hydraulic clutch. I also change all brake fluid every 2 years. Take care Megan.

Ah it was the cold weather that affected the pressure. Interesting. Great you got the brake wires sorted out 👍 Ps your bike is looking good 🏍️😃 I like your hand drying glove. Yeah another seat option would be good to have, but yes they are not cheap. I bought a Mustang seat some time ago that cost $1000. Ouch. Yeah I too are not a fan of the TFT screens on new bikes and prefer the old school analogue gauges. I have twin gauges on my classic cruiser bike. Luv em.

Good to hear that the brake pressure and wirering was just coincidental. ✌️ I just got a 2023 icon. Brand stock in black. Such a blast to ride. I’m still super jealous of your cafe racer. I’m probably going to make it quite similar in style over time. All black with gold wheels and trims. But i love everything else about it. Having a blast. 😎

I have the same bike. If I were you, I would consider a new rear shock and front shock internals. The stock suspension is pretty bad. Bottoms out quick and set very soft. Conti Sport Attack 4 tires are also recommended and look great. The seat looks great and I agree that it is comfortable enough.

Beautiful bike, yes I too mostly dislike the digital clocks you see so much theses days, I am afraid the modern screens now probably are getting cheaper than the old style of clocks 😡

KTM’s will lose brake pressure also. I tie my front brake lever back if the bike is going to sit and it always has good pressure.

Meghan Your Scrambler loves the Bubble Bath! 😍 The bike looks great and I'm glad the brakes are sorted out. Like I said, just change out the fluid and you'd be GTG. The wiring thing sucked but glad that's worked out too. You know, there's something about washing or detailing your bike that's therapeutic. Your mind is focused on the bike and the world disappears. It's always good ide add soap to water. Most chemicals have to be added to water otherwise if you add water to chemicals it will create unwanted dangerous situations

😮 Non-Tutorial 😅 The Returning of washmitt backup to the tank, with out rinsing the mitt, after having mitt around the engine and shock is a no no. As grit dirt picked up on the mitt can score tank paintwork. Just saying 😂. Nice watch though. Yeah ride safe, 👍

Glad you got your brakes fixed! I find a leaf blower is a God-send after washing a bike to blow residual water out of all the nooks and crannies that a motorcycle has. Peace!

I'm gonna look for a tire brush like that, so now you can say that this is an instructional video! BTW, my favorite, maybe oddball, washing and maintenance item is a set of wearable kneeler pads that make it easy to reach low places.

@@MeghanStark get a bucket fill with soapy water at least get your mitt soapy and wet. Give it a hose down first lots of suds. Get some chemical guys speed wipe as a drying aid more lube less scratches, my 2cents, keep up the great channel, also blow dry with a leaf blower. Pan the organizer best car wash channel

I'd like to add that I Never get the Dirt out of all the nooks and crannies. 😞 I find the inner part of Rims so hard to wipe / reach. I spray foam my tires with specialize cleaner, which I like how they turn out. (but they tend to be slippery afterwards) I use vinyl conditional & cleaner on my seats. I have a special sponge for the bugs. I am so temped to put plastic wrap over the front of my Bike before Riding at night or on the highway. Needless-to-say, I only ever wash my Bike ONCE this way to get the best possible photos, after that its only a quick wash (like you just did Sis)

it doesnt happen often but my ducati scrambler lost rear brake pressure after (indoor) winter storage last season. i just had to keep pumping it though and it eventually just came back.

Thanks for the update Meghan. I'm sorry you couldn't make it to Road America. That would have been cool, and the Build Train Race series was racing there too. We drove through parts of your city going to lunch and then the airport. I figure they don't need to put speed limit signs in the city, because the roads are so rough

I do not enjoy washing my Motorcycles, bcz it never turns out perfectly. I'd like to find the VERY BEST Motorcycle Washing Video ever made.! When I buy a new-to-me Bike, I do my very best to clean it once as best as I possible can. Then do a photo-shoot to keep the memory. Personally, I start with the chain 1st. After spending over a hour scrubbing the chain, I coat it in loads of chain wax, so that it doesn't get wet when I spray wash my Babies, like you did in this video. Note: I wipe most of the wax off the chain as a very last step (so it doesn't fling off) I use many different Rags for different areas (never using a dirty or even a semi-dirty rag for the paint job) I do a final rinse with distilled water & blow-dry with a gas powered leaf blower and STILL it leave water marks. 😞
