I love how GM said it was a mere "anomaly". My problem is that a supposed " little " glitch can render this $100k off-road capable beast absolutely useless.

At a company I worked for a few years ago, the owners son placed a project bid and forgot to add one zero. Needless to say they were in the red before even stepping onto the jobsite. The owner called it a computer glitch. Did his son loss his job? Of course not. Anyone else and he would of kicked him out in a few seconds.

Based on the sheer size of its 200kWh battery and how inefficient it already is, probably not too much. Doubt it’ll lose more than 15-20% in the worst weather a normal person might deal with. When my Chevy Bolt was getting its battery replaced due to fire hazard it took four trips to the dealer, numerous emails to GM corporate and finally the presence of the District Manager with GM Technical Assistance on the phone while they updated the vehicle’s firmware to get it properly installed. @@hellkitty1014 this is going to be the difference between legacy automakers and EV automakers. It will force the legacy companies to reevaluate and do things differently so they can compete or they face the very real possibility of going out of business in the future. Overall I think most have done a pretty good job given that they are trying all new things moving away from ICE but there are hiccups. Of course every maker will face issues. And especially with the parts shortages and what not when they may be foregoing something or using an alternative that isn’t as good as what they would normally use. Enjoyed this video, especially the summary of the F150 Lightning. Towing is a big issue for EV’s. There was a significant difference with the trailer attached and empty versus the trailer loaded with the ATV. It would be interesting to compare those differences with an ICE F150. I was considering the Lightning but after watching a few towing videos, realized that the reduction in range with towing is a show-stopper. If I want to pull my boat from Minneapolis into Canada, I would be concerned how to make it to the Canadian lake from International Falls with the type of road for traveling. I assume that fast charging stations could be installed but I don’t see that happening for several years. At my age, I’m not certain that I will ever be able to buy an EV that would make practical and economical sense. Minnesota requires that EV owners submit mileage driven in an EV annually so that road taxes can be assessed (to make up for loss of tax revenue at gas pumps). I think it is great technology but not really affordable for most families, especially with the high inflation that is happening right now. Also, gas prices have been artificially escalated by current gov’t policies cutting oil licenses on Federal lands and the nonsense that the world is going to end in 30 years if we don’t drastically reduce CO2 emissions by 2030 or sooner. Also, the tax credit on EV’s is a big scam on taxpayers. The gov’t is not going to cut spending so the tax credit is only going to drive higher tax rates for everyone. All that said, I enjoy watching your videos on EV technology.

High speed, high load is an absolute nightmare for electric motor efficiency. Electric motors are most efficient low load. The motor in isolate is most efficient at high speed, but introduce aero drag and it's much more efficient at low speed. Combustion engines are the opposite. They are more efficient at high load. You will burn more fuel, but you're getting a greater portion of the energy out of the fuel. If an electric truck and gas truck have the same range empty, put a load in the bed or tow anything and the gas truck will gain a massive lead.

Though they push the fact that they paid for this vehicle they do NOT pay for the numerous vehicles they "test" such as the original hummer ev...as such they don't want to piss the big companies off or they won't give them more vehicles to test( for content ) This is why they complain a little and then downplay the problem and spent countess videos talking up a vehicle that completely failed almost immediately. It is also VERY smart to NOT keep the vehicles long term so they don't have to make the big companies look bad because basically NOTHING new will last long term and even ends up being repaired under warranty numerous times. Excellent video, I probably would have preferred a separate summary video on the Lightning.

Technology is wonderful when it works. Software anomaly? That's what I want to have happen to my vehicle right in the middle of traffic on I-25 or I-70. The software issue might be a bigger issue than the battery.

A known software anomaly that the dealership failed to remedy before selling the vehicle. Doesn't say much for GM concern for the safety of it's customers.

Never mind of course that Honda, Toyota and several other companies have recalled vehicles for software issues on combustion cars also. Software glitches on early vehicles are a known issue on combustion engine cars and electric cars. It is the price of getting the very first models of any new car...

That spare tire seems like an afterthought. They designed the "best off-roader" but couldn't fit the spare tire somewhere else?

Surprised there is no liner on the hood of the hummer frunk, especially for the MSRP.

Just imagine you get it in tow mode (neutral) and it starts coasting backwards or forward because you are on a grade and the brakes and steering don’t work and you coast into a 60 mph cross traffic intersection…….

Absolutely fantastic... full of information. Glad everything worked out with the Hummer. Chalked up as part of the learning process. You guys are number one in the business and I am sure GM paid attention to everything. Looking forward to seeing what's next and how well it works. I have to say that part of the enjoyment of watching your show. Is being able to see Colorado in the background. I lived there for a long time before moving to where I am now. I love the scenery and it brings back wonderful memories. Great job as always 👏 👍 👌

If you guys want a good offroad jack and you could mount it in the bed next to the spare tire, get a Pro Eagle 3 ton Kratos jack. You can buy a mount and tool kit with it. It has large tires made for use off pavement.
