Resident Evil 4 Remake has hit the Xbox Series X and PS5, and here is what I think about the game after playing it. Cameo: cameo.com/rgt_85 Twitter: / rgt_85 Facebook: / rgt85
I’m 2 hours into the game so far right now and playing it with no HUD for a more realistic experience. I can honestly & wholeheartedly say this game is worth every penny. I cannot compare this to the old RE4 , this one is in a whole class of its own … it’s darker and really feels like a modern version of Resident Evil. They went all in on this one & they really put a smile on my face. I hope Capcom does a Dino Crisis remake soon
Nice, gonna do that eventually. But man the same development team needs to do Re5 remake and Dino Crisis remake. If they put the same effort into those as they did to this game it’d be amazing
A Dino crisis remake would be awesome. As for the tone of the game I agree I don’t really compare the remake to the og in my head I see it as two different takes of the same game for two different generations. I feel both games deserve a place in gaming history. Trying to say which is better version from two different generations of gaming just seems unfair to me. Both are deserving imo
I absolutely loved that you left in the "cut out" comment at 6:02, I get it was a mistake to leave it in, but it just highlights the work that goes in to making the videos as good as they can be. Great vid, well done.
I've been obsessed with this game ever since it came out on Friday. I'm a huge fan of the original, and this is just as good, if not better in many aspects.
This game is amazing to me. It feels familiar but the small changes to level design and enemy placements in some areas make me feel like I’m playing a new game. Even with the action feel I still love the atmosphere of the game I love how aggressive the ai is now forcing me to think more. I know some are saying they beat the game in 10 hrs with everything and all that and og players need to play hardcore but I’m playing standard and it feels right for the first playthrough next I will just skip hardcore and go to the unlocked professional (whatever the harder mode is called) or maybe I’m just going ridiculously slow looking in every corner and experimenting idk. I’m still in the village (towards the end going by the og story.) and have 8 hrs already. Super excited to see how mercenaries come out. One minor change I also like is the treasure and messing with the gems to increase value, just adding that little incentive to look for the gems and all to get more value to upgrade more. Yes I have noticed some low res textures but I can’t say what current gen players see (I’m playing on ps4) overall this game looks amazing to me a lot better than I expected. I was skeptical when they announced this remake but I’m happy with how it has come out. Also the sound. Love the sound effects in yhe game
Just completed my first playthrough. Hands down best game I've ever played. I think there's the perfect blend of action and horror in RE4. It's a perfect game
I don't think the Wii version gets enough recognition for how fantastic it was and it also makes me think that I wish Capcom would use the motion sensing capability of the controller as a way to aim. Like you hold down L2 to aim down the sites but then you can move where your pointing the gun by tilting the controller. It's just a thought but I think it would work awesome.
Yes! I played through it first time on GameCube and second time on the Wii back in high school. Absolutely loved the Wii version. The motion controls were really done at that time
@@trapez77 the gyro aim is terrible in the ps5 version and suffers from huge deadzones and massive aim acceleration. Just passible for common enemies and completely not play tested certain bosses and the practice range. Like RE3make nemesis final fight inferno levels of unplayable
Resident Evil 4 (2005) revolutionized video games, period. It really started the whole over the shoulder, third person shooter genre, among other things. I'm currently on chapter 3 of the 2023 version and I do have to say that so far I am enjoying it much more than the original. I always had extreme love for the original, but the remake is better, at least when it comes to gameplay and visuals. Whether or not it's better story wise remains to be seen, but so far I'm very happy.
I tried to get into 8, just not my thing. This looks solid though. I prefer my RE in third person. But if it were up to me i'd go back to the original tank controls and fixed camera lol. Which only the die hard fans truly seem to miss.
RE4 will forever be my least favorite game of all time. Completely killed my favorite game franchise of all time, RE Village was already beat for beat an RE4 remake. Code Veronica deserved the attention not this overhyped with no horror nonsense
I couldn't agree more, I much prefer the more horror atmosphere and this feels much more like a Resident Evil game than the original 4 did, I'm really enjoying myself and I'm constantly surprised by the subtle little changes
The fog floor mechanics in some of the areas is impressive. Buying the laser sight is chefs kiss. Finding out you can customize the laser color in the options menu is just the best.
I said the same, the only one that does that is REmake. There's absolutely no reason to play the original PS1 version, REmake does everything it does, but it looks a LOT better.
@@ravendarklawgaming197 I disagree, there still is and will always be a good reason to play and replay the original Resident Evil... And that's the hilariously bad and cheesy voice acting during cut-scenes.
I’m buying. I played the original very recently for the first time and thought it was great, and I don’t know what I was missing. It looks so good and I can tell it has fantastic gameplay.
I'm stuck in the demo my knife broke and I ran out of ammo, because I went into it based on my experience. I like it so far, might have to wait for the inevitable sale though, too much 💵
The first time I played RE4 back in day I fell in love on sight. They made it with perfect balance of horror and action. It was the first resident evil that I replayed over 10 times. The RE4 remakes takes everything from the original and makes it even better. This is a perfect example of what a remake should be.
I’m loving this game, this is the most satisfying game I’ve bought in recent history. The apex version of my most played, most loved GameCube gem. This is no small statement as I’ve played some absolute bangers
I'm only at chapter 4. Started playing it last night and been playing a couple of hours today and i don't agree with its slower pace. I have finished RE4 10+ times and this game is much more intense. The parry is op and its a must (i play on Hardcore) but you get a lot more swarmed and enemies keeps spawning. In the original, there was a cap on how many enemies at any given time, so just running around and enemies would stop spawning. After that just kill them all and you are done with the area and you can explore freely. In this game they just keep coming. Game is superb so far, only complaint i have is that the boat battle is worse than the original, its easier longer and less interesting, dunno what warranted that decision? Looks like a 10 out 10 so far, i don't give those lightly. Only other RE game except for the original RE4 which was a 10 for me was RE 2 remake.
Best game of 2023 theres just so much replay ability theres so much damn content is just unbelievable and the fact that i haven’t ran into a bug after release is just mind-blowing i finished professional mode and i am playing it again
I played RE4 on Wii several times, but that was so long ago that it feels like I'm playing RE4 for the first time. Remake is a super fun game. One of the few times I bought something on Day 1.
Managed to snag the lenticular edition to match my editions of 2,3 and village. I'm taking my time with this but love how they slightly changed small things to catch players of the original off guard.
I'm at chapter 12 and about to fight Ramon, and I've not had a single crash, no freezing, nothing. Even performance is ok. It's rare these days to see a pc game so polished and well optimised.
One of my top 3 game franchises. Own the original GameCube version and loved it. Recently tried to play the HD version on xbox but could get used to the old controls. I got around to pick up were i left of on The Village and finally completed it ready for this. Only a couple of hours in and absolutely love it. Feels familiar yet new at the same time. Love the new bits and bob's that i've come across so far. The graphics overhaul are superb too. Think they really went all out on this remake.
I bought the original, day one. I was twenty-three and, at the time, I was amazed! It was the first game to feel next-gen to me and as soon as I beat it, I started over again….and I did it two more times after that. Sadly, as a teacher I don’t see a point in picking this up day one because I can’t make the time to fully dedicate myself to it. I’ll wait until school gets out, and then it’s fucking on!
I really dont like the action oriented resident evils, im more on the same page with RGT in the way that i love how slower makes it more intense. Im definitely going to give this a shot.
I played Resident Evil Village a couple years ago and then Resident Evil 2 remake and 3, I loved them. I tried playing resident evil four last year, but it was way too old. This is so much better and I’m having a blast on normal.
I have Resident Evil 4 on every platform I own. Its an evergreen classic that I've completed many times but the remake is stunning. I'm up to Chapter 3 and it feels so fresh and new, Capcom delivers again.
Metroid Prime remastered is actually more than a remaster, so Nintendo sells themselves short when their game is graphically remade and not just a texture resolution upgrade. Re4 is graphically remade with sections and story elements reimagined as well.
This is probably a great pick up for anyone too young to have played the original (or Wii version) or who just missed it but I still think the Wii version is the way to play this and one of my favorite Wii games overall. The motion controls really worked in an additive way on the Wii version versus playing it with a controller.
The original Resident Evil 4 will always have its place as a classic. But I think the remake has replaced it in terms of being *the* survival action-horror game.
When I tried the demo on a Series S I knew something didn't "felt right" with the aiming. Later found out it was because of the dead zone and acceleration. Not buying this one until they patch the controls.
I beat it yesterday. I liked it. Never played the first one. Haven’t played much RE. I did just play the remake of RE2 and liked that as well. This reminded me of RE village which I really liked. I did think village was better. I wish you could move and run faster. I wish the aiming could be better. I’d also like a better auto aim only for the damn dog creatures. They move so fast lol
Almost 20 hours into the game and have not beat it yet! I beat original on professional, but standard on remake feels really hard sometimes. The regenerators are a lot tougher and those blind enemies.
When the game first came out I had gotten a gamecube just for it. I around 16. My mom went to the hospital she had cancer and I knew what that was but not what it was I The grand scheme of things. To take my mind off of that I played resident evil 4 on the gamecube everyday and beat it and replayed it and did that like 4 times. Just sank myself into it. I loved the remake but wish that when you beat it you got more cool stuff each time like the original
Damn. Sorry about your Mother Man. My Mother has Cancer Herself. These games really do take you away from Reality for a few hours. You had a very good game to play to distract you for sure 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Had a sub mail carrier today and he missed delivering my preorder, by the time got home post office was closed. Have to wait till later today to load up. Looking forward to it
Actually the tank controls from the original game are still present in the original RE4 its just the space AROUND you character has changed!!! When tank controls are applied to full 3D areas instead of static photo backgrounds there's no need to re-oriantate or memorize that UP is FORWARD , FORWARD IS FORWARD in full 3D space.👍🏿👍🏿
In the remake, there's more scenery exploration time in between battles which is a good thing for enjoying the game, the graphics and to collect items! but it's definitely a faster pace overall compared to the original. contrary to what he's saying.
It's definitely faster paced...but has conflicting pacing issues. Yes OG4 has it's share of pacing issues but Remake escalates that. OG4 didn't have the best storyline yet nothing was "fleshed out" in this Remake besides Luis....if anything, the D-list Hollywood writer in charge this time around (Matthew Costello) created even more holes in the storylines raising even more questions that should've been answered from the OG game. Super fun combat mechanics nonetheless but I prefer Separate Ways (which has it's own narrative issues) way more than the main campaign.
Currently on Ch 10 Hardcore & yeah the game is absolutely incredible and a blast to play. I've died so many times or restarting so many sections in fear that I had not enough ammo or health for the next fight.. it's another fantastic remake of a classic masterpiece. 🔥
Bought RE4 on GameCube at launch; 10/10 Perfection. Bought RE4 Remake on PS5; 10/10 Perfection. The environment, gameplay, and pace of both games are literally perfection. This is coming from someone that bought RE1 at launch and still loves the tank controls and fixed camera angles.
I liked what I played from the demo, very challenging though. I played and beat the original back in the day and it was awesome. Did they do a good job remaking the final boss??
THIS REMAKE IS THE BEST WITH RE2 REMAKE COMING IN 2ND. I PLAYED THIS GAME UNTIL 6AM THIS MORNING WHEN I GOT OFF WORK AT 12 MIDNIGHT. PHENOMENAL REMAKE!!! CAPCOM YOUR ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST, NOW CODE VERONICA AND DINO CRISIS REMAKES ARE DEFINITELY NEEDED PLEASE!!
Loving the game and have to say, I agree with you in difficulty. I've beaten the original multiple times on Professional. Had to switch to Standard after dying > 12 times on hardcore in the village. I'll get better and all, but even on Standard, I'm dying a lot!
You’re in for a treat then. I’d recommend playing the first 2 before 4. You can find 2 and 3 on sale for cheap often. You’d get a better experience with 4 that way. But there is no wrong way to plays these game. (Re3 is short, not too faithful to the original, but still fun.)
Thank you for acknowledging that it’s challenging, even on normal! If the brutes you’re talking about are the ones that I’m thinking about, they actually messed me up more than the chainsaw man the first time that I had encountered them.
So far, the game is pretty good (Chapter 2). Personally, though, I feel like they should have done something different with the knife situation. It felt really weird to have your knife just break. Personally, they should have taken out being able to defend with the knife while being grabbed. Then they should have used all smaller knives for assassinations. That way it limits your stealth kills, but also allows you to have a logical reason to switch out knife use. Small knives to kill, being stuck in the body during assassination, and the bigger one for killing and breaking boxes. It still feels weird to be able to kick a box instead of needing knife it open like the original. The other thing I felt was weird was the beginning. It opens up with the hunters house. When I went to the basement, and fought my way out, with little ammo left, I was like yeah, this is awesome! Then after, I heard the voices. I had 4 bullets left, and noticed two guys upstairs. All I could think of was crap, what do I do! Then, after quickly noticing the stairs, and escaping up them, it was over after the cutscene. It felt like that should have been extended a bit more. More build up as you realize you are outnumbered and without enough ammo. As for the merchant, his voice is okay. I just loved the originals voice so much, it’s weird without it. Also, he does say a bit much when browsing.
Played through the firsr 2 chapters so far, and unless it takes a sudden turn midway throigh the game, seems like iits gonna be an absolute blast. The changes they have made arent huge but just enough fo4 it to feel fresh, and the combat so far feels way more quico and scary then in the original one. The og one didnt start getting hard until you were on your way to the castle with the president daughter in tow, im finding it to be difficult even early on in this one.
I have a great deal of respect for Capcom remaking RE4 as opposed to remastering. They improved on the original, and we can still enjoy the original. Also, RE4 had received many MANY ports, so it's the decent thing to do to remake it rather than continue milking the OG which yes, is perfect, but can be just different.
