Looks like a basic LT, with a sticker that says “Alaskan”. I would of expected block heater transmission heater possibly heated seats and steering wheel. You know more extreme cold weather items.
There appears to be a block heater (0:53), but it seems like it would be a cleaner integration on a specialized package, instead of the cords just hanging through the grill.
Has a block heater, also has the heated steering wheel (you can barely see the button). Also has heated seats. Buttons are below the temp controls, pause at 4:44 you can see driver and passenger heated seat buttons.
Snow plow prep package DOES NOT come with any plow brackets/mounts, like that Boss mount on the truck. That is aftermarket only. The plow mount doesn't come with the Alaskan package either. Not sure if you're confusing what's on the truck with what the Alaskan package comes with, but it's spelled out on Chevy's website... Snow plow prep package: Power feed to accommodate a backup and roof emergency light1 A single 220-amp alternator Heavy-duty front springs Under body skid plates to help protect the transfer case from debris Alaskan package: Snow Plow Prep Package Chevytec spray-on bedliner Alaskan Snow Plow Special Edition bedside decal with bear graphic 18" 6-spoke machined aluminum wheels with Silver painted accents Smoked Amber LED roof marker lamps 18" LT275/70R18 all-terrain, blackwall spare tire Skid plates Rubberized vinyl floor covering 18" LT275/70R18E all-terrain, blackwall tires
you got it mixed up I think, he's talking about the alaskan package including the snowplow prep package, all though you're probably right about the mount.
@@smileyguyz No, watch the video starting at the 2:03 point , he clearly says the Boss plow mount is part of it, which is false. I was referring to the mount not coming with the Alaskan package either, meaning the mount isn't part of any package. Sorry if that wasn't clear, I've updated my initial comment.
@@Torsee The GM SUV triplets actually look very nice for 2021, especially the interior. I just feel that they can(and should) bring the rest of their lineup to the same level, if not better, than those SUVs.
I’ve heard of Ford Platinum owners making a big stink about not being able to pick vinyl flooring in their ordered trucks, requiring a letter of approval from Ford to actually install them from the factory.
I had a 2018 2500 alaskan with 6.0 mine was just a wt trim and i loved that truck it towed a 5th wheell camper just fine never used it for plowing as to i live in fl but it was a nice trim it offered alot of extras so its not just a base model truck
I have finally resolved my perception of the new front end. I think it's an homage to the 1965 Chevy truck with the turn signals up top and the headlights down below.
Dark Red is 'da best! The Alaskan package should also feature navigation, blue tooth, great stereo, heated bucket seats, heated steering wheel, and a moon roof to watch 'da Northern Lights eh?? Not sure about the rubber floor; rubber stinks somethin' awful when 'da heater is going full blast! Get 'er nice and hot tomorrow when plowing at the former K-I Sawyer Air Force Base and tell us if you get a bad smell from the rubber floor. My Uncle Gordon Vercoe used to plow the runways at K-I Sawyer Air Force Base quite awhile ago when it was operational. Then he moved from plowing the runways, to working underneath the airport in the complex steam boiler tunnels, etc...
I bet the frontal area of that truck is more than a 4x8 sheet of plywood. I saw a C/K today and it was refreshing how trim and non-puffy it was. I prefer '05 and older Chevys, "bad" interiors and all.
Since Chevy moved the mirrors off of the window and down to the door that triangular shape is perfect to add those windows like the old Fords had in the 90s I wish they would do those. They always let in the perfect amount of air and were perfect for smokers.
The vinyl flooring should be an option on all trucks. My Tacoma had it and to this day I miss that. Carpet on trucks that are used for work or off road is just dumb way to ruin an interior. The vinyl is super easy to clean too.
Great looking truck the dark red is better as far as tires if I had that truck id have Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires on it especially for plowing snow
@@shamusbisgard8195 cool I just tires that were on this truck but definitely would like one myself or the boss get some of these trucks because in winter time we do snow removal
The color matched grill looks better still looks like a 2020 Azteck BUT with climate change getting more intense by the month i think it was a brilliant idea for GM to make a truck with that in mind
Have 2016 2500 hd. Lt and snow plow package. It is great for plowing, could not justify diesel whatsoever. Alaskan did come with duratrac tires however I have falken wild peak AT3. They work great.
Boss plow wiring doesn't come from the factory its aftermarket. The controller does come with a mount for the dash and the head even removes from the handle for better mounting.
I have a 2019 Silverado 2500 (6.0 Gas engine) with the Alaskan package and what I find weird is that it doesn't have a block heater. It does have heated seats however. Mine came with Goodyear Dura trac tires.
This is literally a 1500 dollar appearance package with the plow prep package. No heated seats, steering wheel, heated mirrors, engine block heater, trans heater, electronic locking rear, supplemental diesel cab heater, or even rear defrost. All of that is tied up in the 2,400 dollar convince package. If this is a serious plow truck, get a WT truck with the 150 dollar snow plow prep package. You get vinyl seats and floor by default and save a shit ton of money. If you have money to burn or want a really nice plow truck, get a LTZ/high country or denali with a plow prep package and enjoy working in a reasonably luxurious cab. As for the snow tires, they have to sell the trucks with tires all season ready because what if they sell the truck in July when snow tires would be horrible. I would prefer having a second set of wheels and tires for winter months. It takes 30 minutes to switch them. If you are for some reason dead set on a single set of tires for year round, then get yourself a set of inclement weather rated all terrains and keep some chains on you, but either way you're swapping tires and its easier if they just include all seasons you can sell off if you don't want them.
James Mastroianni absolutely, a truck labeled Alaskan should be prepped to operate at -40! Even us Minnesota folk would enjoy that. Why not add an auxiliary diesel fired heater to warm the fuel lines and engine block ? Then you’re earning the name, right? Btw I have been saying for years that journalists have ruined vehicles for winter driving by convincing factories to put low profile tires on. If anyone doubts there is a difference, look at the serious off-roaders... big side walls good flex , nice contact patch ...sure not race car handling but hey NASCAR doesn’t run on snow covered tracks for a reason.
@@tbthedozer the truck comes with 18 inch wheels and I think they run 30-33 inch tires stock so that's still a good size tire. The HDs don't have the low profile tire issue. It's the half tons running like 28s with a 22 inch tire that's problematic.
First off, like most of us out here. I thought the new design was ugly. But it's starting to grow on me. And if your a regular cab truck guy like myself. The HD regular cab gm trucks have more options than the 1500! Things like satellite radio, and power seats, ect!
I live in North Pole Alaska, and I'm telling you right now I'm doing just fine with the trucks I got. A sticker and couple extra accessories that most already have here dont make it special but griz sticker is pretty cool lol
Whoa mindblowing that a truck could have rubber floor covering instead of carpet to make cleanup easier when it's Actually used for work.. who woulda thunk
I plowed for many yr.s. up north..I live in fl..now day..love the Alaska pkg..il order one with the 2500 hd...even in fl...floor lines are good with all the sand down here..just wash it out as well..ty for the video..reminds me of a early 1960s hood..in a senses
@@campbell0162 & shit resale also. I believe th only reason Ford sells so many is they'll freaking finance2 any1! That & they make alot in cheap fleet sales
And as for the Boss plow controller! I run an older GMC 4500 with a BOSS VEE plow! I strap the control to the column shift! But Fisher Plows have far better controls!
It doesn’t come with a block heater like a remote controlled Webasto or cord like Calix? Or did I miss that spec? Here in Sweden you can hardly get a car without that.
Glad to see you all are up in Michigan! Our company Loadmaster manufactures Garbage trucks in Norway, Mi near the Boss Snow Plows HQ in Iron Mountain, MI. Big manufacturing pride in this area! Only 1.5 hrs south of marquette:)
At 9:30 , no winter tires? This really is unbelievable! Let's design a truck for snow plowing, and let's call it The Alaskan Package. Now what tires should we put on it standard? Umm... Umm... How about tires designed for Florida? OK, that's a great idea. Go for it. Who are these people who come up with these crazy things? A truck called the Alaska Package, designed for snow plowing, should have tires rated with the 3-peak snowflake symbol. It's not that complicated.
Speaking of snow tires, does it have any significant rust prevention or maybe a extra rust prevention package ? Considering it's going to be in the snow and the salt all the time.
Nope ... 1 or 2 Actual Snow filled Winters in any Ram, Chevy, or Ford and be ready for rustoleum or the constant back of your mind you got rust under a $60k truck ... got rid of my 2yr old Ram cause I couldn't take seeing it 😑
An actual Alaskan should be a winch front and back with locking diffs front and back with duratrek tires. Plus a couple of nice light bars. Their version of Alaskan is throw a plow and a decal on it. Give me a break. Might as well call it a Michigan at that point.
Maybe an explanation of the wires hanging out of the grille? Or perhaps we'll see that next episode when you hook up the plow. Does it have outfitter switches for roof beacon and pod lights above the plow? What kind of engine heating added (battery, block, oil?)
I really appreciate the rubber floor! But a winter specific package should have heated seats and steering wheel standard. Plus navigation. The decals are stupid and pointless. But that dark red looks great! Hope GMC does a similar package with the missing features.
Hopefully that winter package has heated mirrors seats & wheel and even real snow tires. The problem with boss plows the front frame sets really low. Fisher & Western plow frames sets about 2 or 3 inches higher way better clearance. Great Review. Thank You.... yes I know fisher & western is the same company.
Alaska package. Umm heated seats, heated starring wheel, extra cab insulation, larger heater, heated mirrors, rear window defogger, bigger battery, battery warmer and maintainer, trans heater, oil pan heater, block heater... are those things standard?😂 I do like the decals and the added cab lights👍
I just can’t get myself to like this front end. Great idea to make it completely different then the 1500s but the truck just doesn’t look right in the front. Just odd.
Once again Chevy Silverado is the best looking truck anywhere the new look is like big rig styling personality I think the lower end Silverados grills looks better than the more elaborate options
Actual trucks in Alaska are plugged in whey they are not running. Parking meters, grocery stores, etc. all have plug-ins for every parking spot. Diesel engine vehicles are left to idle for four months. They are never shut off. Cute sticker on the truck, though. Anyone know the Cd on that four-wheeled brick?
I’m in Marquette. What I want to know is how it compares to the old rebuilt ford that plows the one mile of two-rut to my cabin... ya know, in case if you run out of snow at Sawyer ;-)
The package DOES NOT include the plow mount and one is not ready to "go home and hook up the plow". One still needs to buy and install the plow mount, wiring harness and module. A complete plow package installed will run you about $6000, depending on the size and weight of the plow.
Get some Weathertech or Husky Liner fitted mats. I even have then on my vinyl floor truck because you dont want water seeping under the floor onto all the wiring.
Chevy is bold to put more load on their trucks to do this kind of work. Since it has been my experience they cannot handle regular work loads. If I were to want/buy a plow truck, it would NOT be a Chevy/GMC. It would be Ford, Toyota or Ram. ;)
Chevy should allow an option on all 2020 trucks to install the 2019 front end. I still can't fathom how this design beat out other designs. Did someone at the GM design team lose a bet or what???
The 2019s are pretty ugly, too. I actually prefer the 2020 to the 2019, but they are both hideous. I like my 04 the best, but I could be biased. Regardless, at least my 04 won't break down all the time.
I don't mind the style. If it has the badge instead of the Chevrolet. I don't know why, but it looks better with the badge in my opinion. I'm more of a fan of the GMC style more than I am of the chevy, but it looks better with the badge.
