I agree with your choice but I think the Supra is the ugliest car you can buy today. It's absolutely hideous. OTOH, it's Z4 sibling is one of the best looking cars on the road so it seems Toyota worked hard to make Supra so ugly. The GR86 and BRZ are both infinitely better looking than Supra.

What on earth is boring about the Toyota GR86? If you find the GR86 boring to drive, I seriously doubt you are going to like the Supra or pretty much any car. On the street, the GR86 is one of the most fun cars that exists today. Unless you just like extreme acceleration, the GR86 is awesome.

You want a simplistic car but you’re going to add turbos and all the supporting mods and tune it and hope it doesn’t blow up? LOL. You make no sense😂

Not sure about keeping value better. BMWs aren't known for resale value due to the insane maintenance costs. BMWs are great when under warranty. Not so much afterwards. I expect it will sadly be the same with the Supra.

​@@kevindepew8193 I don't think so. You can call it a BMW all you want but it is still a Supra, which is unlikely in its current form to come back in the next generation. It's production will probably cease after next year and then I imagine it will hold value well compared to BMWs. Also, the B58 has been a proven reliable engine and I haven't heard of many chronic issues with the GR Supra, so warranty or not this car can hold its own. Combined with the relatively low supply of Supra's out there, it will definitely keep value better than the GR86.

Wow sounds like I will have to decide between a newish Porsche or a lightly used gen 2/3, hoping they make a 3, and just beef up the interior to save dough. I really love gen 1 I hate to see it go

@@mathewg1747 Depending on which year first gen you have, the interior of the new 86 is a massive improvement. The quality of materials is noticeably higher, and the car feels more premium. The only 1st gen that matches the quality in my opinion is the Hakone edition 2020 GT86 with the caramel accents and proper armrest, but really any first gen made after 2018 is close

86 definitely more reliable . B58 known for valve cover leaks, coolant consumption, oil filter disintegration,and carbon build up.And don't forget the $6000 when the turbo shelf life runs out 😀

What’s wrong with BMW? Funny that it’s always people who have never driven a BMW that cuss them yet anyone who has owned a BMW is a diehard fan. Saying that I would get the GR86 purely from a financial aspect but I’d rather an M240i (that’s a beemer)

Currently own a supra MT and with hours of seat time with the new brz and 997.1 gt3, I can say that 86/brz cannot remotely be compared to any generations of gt3. Please… even the newer gt3 such as the 991.2 MT is heaps ahead of the 86/brz. 86/brz are great cars for the money and I truly appreciate that Toyota/Subaru continue to make them, but journalists are hyping them up like it’s the best driving machine on the planet. The electric steering is fast and direct but lacks mechanical feedback. Again, the GR Supra blows the 86/brz out of the water, period. It’s half the price, but not double the fun.

@@TRDJon The BRZ suspension tuning is better for daily driver, explained very well in an 8/31/2021 article by Road & Track's Brian Silvestro. Also the Subaru looks a bit more conservative (I'm not a flashy person), and finally there are far fewer BRZ units being produced vs. GR86. I have a dark blue manual in the upper spec on order at this time.

well, I owned a new supra 3.0 and traded it in after 6 months. beautiful car but too fidgety ( felt like the tail was wagging the dog) at the limit on back roads. Very sketchy with the light steering. I drive pretty hard at the limit and felt it was going to be my coffin. Traded it for a better car that is actually faster but instills much more confidence. Ordered a gr86 because of the low power and add lightness formula is sooooo rewarding....you can drive this car at 7/10 or 9/10 and have boatloads of fun where as the supra will get you in trouble at 3 or 4/10 ths.

@19hundoc47 nope. I raced shifter karts, tested GT3 cars. 2800 lbs at 30K Nm/degree chassis vs 3400 lbs & 40K Nm/degree. Only 13 year olds use one metric to judge a sports car. Thanks for letting us all know you can't drive 🏎

If the Supra were a Toyota, it would be great. Sadly, the Supra is a BMW, which means it comes with BMW reliability and maintenance, which is NOT a good thing.
