243wayne1 When she decides to make her move she will claim he threatened her and get a restraining order barring him from the residence. During the 6 weeks or so it will take for him to get a hearing to argue against the restraining order she will have sold off his hooptie fleet and anything else she can and he will have no recourse for it because legally she can do so. His so called friends will buy his fire sale hoopties and one or two will be banging his wife. As smart as he is at accumulating wealth his stupidest decision ever was to get married.
Australians have a saying: "If you're going into the outback you either take a Land Rover or a Land Cruiser. If you want to come back, take a Land Cruiser."
My friends mom bought a land cruiser back when I was in 4th grade and she still drives it...I'm 23 now and It still looks new. Those things are incredible.
I love this, perfect first-hand knowledge of longevity. My rig is the same age and I bought it from the original owner last year, people are shocked when they learn its not new and has a quarter of a million miles on the odometer.
The fact you found a land cruiser for $2100 bucks is simply a miracle. Where I live people usually don’t sell under $10k, no matter how many miles are on them.
Chris Moodie dont see many of those as they arent very practical, but its likely. The Prados are actually just as sought after, i have a 90 series Prado thats actually increased in value since ive had it by $6,000
Watch a Hoovie's video. "Ok, now i know what NOT to do." A FEW MOMENTS LATER. Buys a 2000 Honda Civic to change the engine, and swap to a engine from a Honda model that wasn't sold here in Brazil...
315000 miles on our 2000 land cruiser 312000 miles on our 2004 4runner and the baby of the bunch 2007 FJ Cruiser has 216000 miles...all everyday drivers in Colorado
Based on your advice I did buy one! We needed more room for a family vehicle and actually go off road quite often. So far it has been amazing! I just had he T-belt, some gaskets and plugs done. Now it’s time for some fun modifications. Thanks for the sound advice!!
BE CAREFUL HOOVIE - That concrete may not be designed to handle that weight. A crack or break in those poured steps would be a nightmare down the road.
haha exactly buys a low k example thats been trashed. seems like he has no idea why us aussies love em. by the way I'll never understand those roof top tents whose idea was it that you had to climb a ladder when drunk to make it to bed?
@@user-oq3lv6lv7x my point, in response to the OP (in other words) : one can't just buy a brand with a "good reputation" and expect no serious problems
My company had them in the Sahara desert. 4.2 Liter engine 120 horsepower. The engines were unbreakable if you do regular oil change. The roads were so bad and the people driving like crazy, so the cars were gone after only 500.000 km. On asphalt they would surely last more than a million.
His first Cruiser video came out right in the middle of my search last year and I was worried, but there's already so much competition for these things, especially the Land Cruiser version, that if its a good one it will be gone within a couple of days of listing. People on the forums have cash in hand and are ready to buy plane tickets to go view some rigs. I personally took 4-months to find a good one because they either all had rusty undercarriages (ALWAYS check this in pics first) or simply disappeared by the time I got on the phone. It will be the best decision you will ever make however.
@@luxcruisers7870 I've been on the hunt for an LC/470 for about a month now and I'm finding a lot issues with frame rust. If it's a southern car there's not rust but that want all the money for it. The search continues but need Hoovie to talk some trash about these for another few weeks. That would be a big help. :)
@@brm98 Pacific Northwest cars don't rust either if they have lived their whole life here, but I also kept finding rusty East Coast cars shipped in to take advantage of the high resell prices here. Be ready to jump when you find one!
@@fizzyman1224 You would have loved the dead-ass-perfect 80 I saw earlier, deep blue and looked like they just built the damned thing. I see about 3-5 80-series a day here in Portland and this one stood out.
Congrats Hoovie! Still love that LC, I remember when you posted a year ago when you just got her. Landcruiser's are the best, my 96 LX450 has needed next to nothing over our last 12 years of ownership! Let me know if you need a place to dump that rooftop tent...my LX wouldn't mind carrying it around the trails, lol! Best of luck in the new house and congrats again. Stay warm :)
I got a 1948 Ford sedan for $250. It was abandoned by my neighbours a year ago. Still runs and drives properly and gets a lot of attention in a Japanese neighbourhood.
Tyler I have to agree with you on your experience with your 2003 BMW X5. I have one with 175,000 miles and it is eating my lunch. Over the last 2 years I've sunk close to $12 K on repairs with the transfer case being the most expensive at $5K. I cry when I write the checks to pay the bills but I gotta tell you to me it's worth it. It's drives and rides great and doesn't look like a 16 year old car. Early on when the repairs started adding up I should have unloaded this baby and got a Land Cruiser. Great video!
That is one stunning house you got there, Tyler. Wouldn't mind living in Kansas! Here in the Netherlands a house like that would cost many, many millions of euro's. The annual taxes would make a grown man puke on the spot. Love your channel, keep up the great work. Always fun to tune into your endeavours!
Hands down, my 2000 TLC was the best vehicle I have ever owned - paid $50k in Oct 2000, paid it off in 48 months, owned it as my DD for 12 yrs (125k miles), and sold it for $18k in late 2012... outside of tires, brakes pads and normal scheduled maintenance items, never had an issue.... wasn’t ever seriously off-roaded, but did do suburban-country chores such as tow my SO’s horses to regional show jumping events, towed trailered snowmobiles and ATVs and on rare occasions, was called upon to perform trail-recovery duty for various neighbors and acquaintances who were the unfortunate owners of non-TLC 4x4 vehicles
My dad owns a 1999 Land Cruiser GX.R with straight 6 engine. It have done more than 200,000 KM's and it's been pretty reliable. More reliable than my 2002 RAV4 which's saying something. Land Cruisers are one of my favorite SUV's IMO.
Currently have my mom's old first gen 2004 Highlander with over 310,000km as my first car. No major problems and a capable soft-roader. Would love to upgrade to a land cruiser one day but those things are much more expensive, hard to find second hand (especially in Canada) and don't get as good fuel economy as the Highlander.
Great vehicles - for the past 15 years, I've only bought pre-owned vehicles and that's when I quickly learned to stick with Lexus/Toyota. They hold their value very well, are highly capable and extremely reliable. Currently I've got an LX 570 as my daily driver - plenty of room for the kids and their friends or their sports gear - very comfortable, good tech features and in a few years when I've got an empty nest, I'll probably get a used RCF as a daily driver and keep the LX for weekend fun and do all the stupid things like rock sliders, bull bumper, winch, etc.
@@luxcruisers7870 - Oh yeah - that LC is nice. I had an ISF, but it was too small for my kids' hockey bags. Unfortunately my 2014 LX was destroyed in a pileup accident on the freeway - (nobody injured), so I picked up another 2014 that only had 25k miles on it - for not much more than what the insurance company gave me for the wrecked one with 65k miles on it. That they're built so well and are such capable vehicles is the only way we can make plans for a vehicle more than just a couple years out.
Buying a used Lexus is the way to go, reliability isn’t a concern so buying brand new or needing a warranty isn’t really a concern, let it depreciate and buy when it’s a couple years old. I’m on my third and have never had car problems ever. And I have coworkers having car problems with half as many miles
Might want to rule out late 90s to early 2000s Rav4s, and Corollas...motors in both were known to be crap, trans in Rav4s were garbage. Also I'll throw in the one time use valve cover bolts on v6 Camrys and solaras of same era
Toyota is the best car company ever. Made to last, Cheap parts. You can beat these things to the ground and they will out last any German made car. We hype up BMW, Mercedes wayy too much. Funny thing is Toyota is made here in the US, it's more american then some of these American companies.
@@trek3792 I own an LX 470 and have had a couple Mercedes and still own a '62 220se coupe. While, yes, both will last, the Toyota will do it for a fraction of the cost and time laid up. I've put $25,000 in the Benz in 5-years, the LX had one brake failure induced by a shop, otherwise it's just maintenance.
Yeah and people like you need to stop following the Toyota cult. Yes Toyotas are generally reliable but you guys need to stop worshipping them as indestructible vehicles that will outlive anything else. Because the truth is that even Toyotas have their fare share of of faults and problems. My VW outlived my mates Yaris for instance
totoIV lol there's literal statistic that show it cost 4x more to maintain a BMW or Mercedes. On average it cost $4k for Toyota, on average $16k to 18k for BMW and Mercedes. Not cult simple common sense
That is a beautiful truck and I'm not even really into trucks. Hardly any mechanical issues with that many miles is amazing. Toyota should use this video for advertising.
That whole setup is the whole package for me I love the rooftop tent and I love the snorkel and everything else lifted all everything around man sweet ride good job.
I’m currently driving a leased Audi Q5, but absolutely don’t want to own it long term - have spent the last few weeks looking at a highlander as its eventual replacement. My previous car was an 07 Camry that has 300k on the clock and is still being driven around the neighborhood - Toyota’s are amazing vehicles.
If you're looking on the used market, definitely check out the first gen Highlander. Not too sure about the longevity of 2019 model, but its due for a refresh soon. My parents gave me the old family 04 Highlander as my first car, still going strong with over 310,000km and my mom upgraded to a 2017 Volvo XC90, and boy does she regret that. Less than 30,000km on the Volvo and its been in the shop almost as many times as the Highlander has had over the years for routine maintenance.
Ryan C I’ve got 18mo on the Audi, so it’ll be a 2020 or 2021, or maybe a certified pre-owned - not looking for older I don’t believe, but not ruling it out
@@smeggy22 The current Highlander is outdated compared to the competition, but they're still flying off the lots and year over year sales continue to grow. I can't imagine the sales it'll get after a redesign. Chances are, you'll probably pay well over MSRP. From second gen on I believe production of the Highlander was brought over to Indiana compared to the first gen which was produced in Japan preaching lean manufacturing to a tee with its Kaizen quality.
Awesome truck... I have a 98' 4runner Limited, just clocked 165K, (except for a gel-coat, paint issue on the hood), simply a great truck, hope to keep it a long time... I rarely off-road but enjoy the 4WD in the snow, very capable and makes for enjoyable winter driving... Thx, Moses...
My parent's 1999 LX has 75,000 miles on it and has been to the shop for any issue whatsoever besides routine maintenance. It is a tank and I can not think of a better suv.
3 things to clear up: 1. a Land Cruiser is a 4wd (or 4x4) not an SUV 2. a snorkel doesn't just raise the air intake level so you get cleaner air, a properly fitted snorkel also prevents water ingress into your engine when driving through deeper water, does not stop water from getting into the cabin. 3. That big thing on the front is actually not called a bumper bar, that is infact called a bull bar. 300,000 mile on a petrol is really good but is just being run in on a diesel engine
Excellent! I bought a 00' LX470 last summer, and it's been the best car I've owned even though it's one of the oldest. Funny enough, my only regret is paying a relative premium to buy one with low miles of 115k. Really not as necessary here as with other cars. Bumper, Rock Sliders, and Rear Bumper are next.
Avoid the "Toyota Tax"! A new Land Cruiser is $76K while an Escalade is $64K on cars.com. While a 2009 with less than150,000 miles the LC is $26K and a Escalade is $17K. A new LX570 3-row is $92K while a 2009 is $27K. So the LC drops $50K and the Escalade only drops $48K. Toyota LC is not luxurious and should not have that depreciation compared to another luxury marque.the LX is more like a luxury vehicle in it’s high depreciation of $65 in the last decade.
@@normt5463 I got a fair deal but prices here in the PNW are higher for these than most other places aside from maybe Texas since we don't salt the roads here and it never gets too hot so cars stay pristine. I was prepared to pay about $4,000 more in this condition. Owning and driving a 100-series has little to do with money and everything to do with the experience. My 11.3 mpg average does sip some more cash from the wallet however. I use it as my daily.
that's us, sometimes unlucky can't find a parking at CBD as parking space are so small just enough to fit a tiny car, and we have to remove the giant roof rack just to fit the limited height at mall parking.
I daily drive a 1995 FZJ80 with 203k miles everyday...its literally the best vehicle ever made. Stay up to date on regular maintenance items such as belts, diff oils, oil changes, and replacing old coolant hoses as needed and you're grandkids can have your LC in 20 years.
Hey my 02 X5 has 250K on it with pretty much no major issues, however its been babied and garaged by my family since new! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Great video hoovie!
We had a 2002 x5 for one year. And there was always something wrong with it. We only had it for the lower price in tax. Now we have a 2004 xc90 and it is great. Nice video. Keep it up can't ways to see the garage.
Probably paid too much! Toyota LC is not luxurious and should not have that depreciation compared to another luxury marque.the LX is more like a luxury vehicle in it’s high depreciation of $65 in the last decade.
no, really just reliability and mass production. they’re not really that luxurious compared to lincoln, cadillac, and german brands. and they aren’t really that focused on fast cars
Remy Fagerstrom Bullshit, Lexus are just as luxurious as the European makes, and even the current models of Camrys and Corollas are very luxurious. European cars are overpriced, unreliable shitboxes that cost a bomb to buy and own.
Both my landcruiser 80 series had over 500k miles before I sold them , both are still running strong from what I hear ! Most reliable toughest vehicles ever !!
