From someone who owns a 2012 honda civic I can say it honestly a very reliable car, yes despite the cheap plastics but that to me isn't what matters. It is still a good car for a daily commuter.

@@allenelder4675 I've had an '91 Civic (4 gen) as my first car, apart from rust and typical things like brake pads nothing had to be done to this car. Now I have R5 turbocharged Lancia and well... it's not a bad car at all, but mine had a very rough life and I swore to bring it back to its prime and get a photo with it placed in front of the Fiat factory in Turin, just for fun. Maybe it will finally happen next year. :D

@@allenelder4675 well, I'm from Poland and this particular Lancia model was used by our authorities a lot evan 20 to 15 years ago. Mine served in parliament, I wasn't hunting for such but since it was one of the few with the engine I wanted - I got it even though it was pretty ruined. It's an endless money pit, if I was buying with a reason I'd go for a Honda or Toyota. But I forgot to take the reason with me, so... ;) As for the old Civic, to this day I turn my head when I hear D16 engine, and I'm never wrong. Some good memories were made, it was really fun car to drive, and so dang reliable despite it's age.

I remember test driving an Si a few years ago. They sure do lean a lot when going through twisties. It Almost felt like you were the captain of a large yacht. Hah. I ended up going with a 2016 Focus RS and the acceleration is neck snapping. It's fast and outhandles some real deal sports cars. The RS specifically is built with pride unlike CERTAIN newer Toyota models. Scotty knows what I mean by that Comment

I'm now part of the Honda family. I recently bought a 2016 Honda Civic with 14,400 miles on it. Not bad at all. Other than needing to vacuum and wipe down the interior, it was well kept. Engine compartment was very clean and the car drives like it's a brand new car.

Any Honda with a manual transmission is the best.

Odyssey 1999-2004, Honda Accord 1998-2005, Honda Civics 2001-2005. Those cars have bad automatic transmissions. I heard that some Pilot 2003-2004 as well. I have a Pilot 2004 and so far transmission is not slipping but it acts like sometimes in the morning do not want to change gears. It looks like is a sensor. After it gets warm it works fine. I had a civic 2002 and my transmission broke in 156,000 miles. Had to installed another one. Also have a Honda Civic 2014 with CVT. So far is all good it has 46,000 miles. With Honda youvhave to change the oil every 40 or 50k. Those automatic transmissions are more soft than Toyotas.

@@Jose-xb6st I have 2014 Honda Civic Lx @ 68k miles. I've only done maintenance, re-alignment, and battery replacement. Other than that...it purrs like a kitten. I do need to change the transmission oil. I'm overdue clearly. I did not realize I had to and I looked it up after I saw your comment. Weird.

@@sirgalahad5208 No its not luck, either you got hondas with burnt engine lights or you just replace all of your sensors constantly. Still there is no absolute way a car won't show a engine light in 20+ years unless its burnt.

I have had my 13 si for over a year now and it's hands down the best car I've owned. Its for sure an upgrade over a normal civic. The new civics I'll probably wait for a refresh in a few more years to see how it goes.

@@Jaipistons Because it's slow and weak from stock. The fact that you can mod it to be something else doesn't mean it's a sports car. It's really just the "sporty" version of a gas saver.

I have the 2012 and i just hit 50k on it. Been talking decent care of her but the paint is all damaged now and ready for a recoat. One of my tpms sensors just went out in a tire too but overall she's been great to me. No major issues and i got the manual too. I had a 91 Integra with the b18 before that and have loved Honda since. I do also have 2 vehicles with Chrysler engines which i also enjoy but the Honda is solid and most reliable. Mine is the base model and does not have the Bluetooth. Been thinking of upgrading to one of those Android screens, no sunroof either if you don't have the si. Also in my model the dash lights are blue and not red.

@@thomasengel1459 for situations like that. Ie a recall. They have a contact with the manufacturer to offer services at a heavily discounted rate. They much rather not have to do it. Only if the consumer raises the issue

I bought a 2019 Civic Si coupe a few months back, I drive a lot to and from work so already at 6,000 miles. I love the car, it has some quirk's but overall I'm happy with it.

Hell yeah. My DD is a 2014 Si sedan and it’s an awesome car. It’s got the newer red & black seats and full touch screen infotainment system. Fun to drive and looks & sounds good IMO.

I have a 2007 FA5. Fiji blue- bought it for 6k with 110k on the clock and it’s all stock original clutch and runs like a top. 26 mpg pulling it by the hair every day. Absolute pleasure to drive and cheap to own. Great dailies- I drive 65 miles a day and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else for the money

I have a 2013 LX and it's a true pleasure to drive. Definitely feels like my old 2000 LX, Civics have a great tradition of driving finesse that few other major car makers can make a claim to (without paying a premium). My Civic never complains whenever I need to maneuver it.

Just bought a 2013 Civic EX with 5 speed manual transmission (2 weeks ago) and I like it! Pretty fun to drive, it handles very well, pretty fast for 140 HP and 5.6 liters/100 km (42 MPG) mostly highway/country roads but still very efficient in city too. Solid car and R18 engines are bulletproof.👍🙌🔰🏎💨

Dont think you need a SI for a daily driver. (WHEN I think daily driver I think comfort and most. Efficient, and of course safe.) But we all have our own opinions on what we want in a DD. Nice video otherwise! My Civic isn't exactly stock. But its only lightly mod. Yellow fog lights, new headlights with better visibility, and a new RED H on the rare. Since the original fell off. (Its a 2005 ex coupe) oh its white and rust highlights, because that civic has issues with rust.

My 2018 Si gets 29.9 mpg it’s one of the most enjoyable cars I ever drive besides the economic features hindering some power and rev drop but that can be taken care of with a tune once the warranty is gone of course

The Japanese make great cars, but if only they could stop them from rusting. Toyota is mostly okay, but all those Hondas, Mitsubishis and of course Mazdas rust like crazy. I had a 1996 Galant, running perfectly fine, great vehicle, but I had to get rid of it because the floor has almost completely rusted away.

@skbuoy That was just my personal experience. Another examples are Mazda 6 and 3 (legends among rusting cars), Mitsubishi ASX, Toyota Yaris (especially I and II, Honda Civic, Suzuki Swift. Even 2014+ Mazdas rust after any minor paintjob damage. I don't know about America, but literally every (except for Dacia) European based car manufacturer is galvanizing their cars. And Japanese cars? Non of them is galvanized.

My 99 Accord I sold this year did not have any rust on it and I am in New England and on salty Cape Cod sometimes.

@@sdushdiu I researched every list I could find (because I admit that "most reliable" is subjective and "cheapest" is also variable due to different costs of different things such as insurance in different locations) and the only list that I found that mentioned the Corolla , had it at #11, in which the same exact list had the Prius at #1. The Prius is simply cheaper, and generally more reliable. Obviously it saves money on gas. There is no automatic transmission to wear out (The unique gear-drive transmission lasts longer than conventional auto trans, and much longer than standard CVT's), nor clutch to wear out. The brake pads are used much less often, requiring replacement intervals extraordinarily long in most instances. The engine runs less often, so spark plugs last much longer, even oil changes can be extended with less impact. They also have higher resale value than Corolla. The battery pack generally lasts 150k-300k miles, or 10-15 years, and can currently be replaced for around $2K-3K. Even with that, Prius still shows a net savings over it's life compared to a Corolla.

@@sdushdiu yes, I am interested. And I know full well what a prius is. Did you even read my comment, or look at this as an argument to win? I specifically mentioned spark plugs and oil changes. The prius engine runs less, specifically idling, so those wear parts need to be changed less often. there is no alternator. Why did you give me a list of costs for hybrid batteries, some of which we're not even talking about? I could copy and paste a similar list from somewhere else with lower prices. And can you give me the source of the annual maintenance costs you posted? By the way, that list doesn't include fuel costs, insurance, and resale value. Which when factored in, again, make the prius cheaper to own and operate.

@@adcolt54 I think it depends on what site you find. The one I found says the accord and civic have gone back and forth from #1 & #2, but the accord is currently #1. Idk who to believe. Haha

@@adamemac The list I referenced from was 2017 so you must be correct. I found a list on CBS site which lists the Chevy Silverado as the #1 most stolen vehicle in 2018 so you're right on where you find the list.

My daily driver/winter car is a 2012 Civic LX Coupe... I picked it up with low kilometrage and for a good price. The LX is not as powerful as an SI but gets much better gas mileage and runs on cheaper gas.

The 2012s were arguably the worst Civics ever made. Granted this is the Si which makes it a little better, but the 2012 model was panned by the media so badly that Honda had to refresh it after only one year. NEVER buy a 2012 Civic.

Girls need an automatic and soy boys too. You could probably find someone who would be willing to teach u how to shift the gears. In a few months I bet you’d be able to drive in traffic as good as my grandmother. She drives grandpas dodge diesel in town pulling a 37 ft camper shifting a five speed like an over the rd trucker. Don’t give up....I bet u can learn to do it

Yep the 8th & 9th gen civics are the most reliable cars ever made. My fathers 12 year old 8th gen civic has not faultered once. Even all the bulbs are original on it with him just servicing the car and put new tyres on. The mechanics dread them here in the uk saying to me that they only come in for the services.
