VERY articulate, clever review. BUY ONE. I did, new in 1998. 1.4L. Great power and ride, miserly use of fuel, huge interior and park anywhere. At one point it did 170 kms a day in country Australia going through a mountain range in sub zero temperatures and never complained. Fantastic on the freeway. Got 220,000 kms on the original Michelins. Have owned German, French and Japanese cars and my Barina eclipsed them all! BEST car I ever owned hands down!
Love what you say in this video. It's about sentimental value and bring back memories. My aunt had a T reg corsa b. Also 1 litre. Also in the same blue colour. When she sold it a couple of years ago it only had 25k miles. Sadly I think it's been scrapped now but would like to own one myself. My dad had a Vectra B years ago which are now very rare to find. My dad also had a Zafira B that he sold years ago which I was lucky enough to buy back this year for near scrap value. I know Zafira B's are quite common but I'm going to keep it on my drive and restore it as it does bring back a lot of memories where my dad took me to school runs, going to the shops with him, going to the beach with him etc.
Still have mine now. Bought it at 21...now 36. Originally a 1.6 Sport. Converted it to C20Let myself. Dont regret it. Hit the nail on the head with nostalgia. Takes me right back. Smiles per miles
I've bought my first car again. A '97 mk3 astra GLS (i only had the GL) straight out of a nan's garage. It has an electric antenna, velours upholstery and a sunroof. There is not a blemish on the paint. I daily a merc cla but i genuinely enjoy driving the astra on the weekends.
I feel the scrappage scheme saw a lot of these binned off along with old Astras, Mondeos, and a whole host of other cars which were super common at the time so nobody really noticed until recently how scarce they were.
I have a W reg Corsa B Club in that same blue with those same 80s style side badges. Goes by the name of Dave. He's my first (and current!) car and I'm in my (cough) 40s. He might be on his last legs, but CPR continues on the l'il fella!
@Jamie_FYD Ironically I emailed you a few years ago to review my immaculate GTE that I had, but you didn't get back to me, I've since sold it, and you'd struggle to get a better late GTE then that on the channel, I sold it just over a year ago for £16.5k and bought an Evo 7. 👍🏻
Exactly the same as the saxo and 106. The 106 gti is so close to out of reach now for a good one. And the saxo vts is very close behind it. All the same era! I had a saxo for my 1st car. Wouldn't want that particular one back now because it was a shed. But I'd love another saxo!
My first car was a 1997 corsa b merit didn't have an airbag or electric windows was a 1.2 with 45k on the clock, had a few things wrong with it but fixed them all. Did like my first car.
Brother in law had a 1.4 Sport on TSW stealth's it had an Alpine stereo and JBL Speakers had been done by a previous owner no him tho. Was in a dark green and I miss that car
The thing is with these corsa b's. Most of the bad ones have already been scrapped. Now it's just the survivors you pull out of an old lady's garage. And once people start noticing that only the good ones are left they go up in price.
Ive just bought a solid s'reg.... never seen welding or filler blue 2 door no rust at all but auto 1.2 with 48k mint interior unsure what to do with it tbh
My first car was a mk3 Fiesta. The prices of them now really annoy me, not just because I'm poor, but also because I think the current prices are destroying a lot of them. People are asking too much for them and, other than your mate Jason, no one seems to be buying them. I've been looking for one for a couple of years. And regularly search, and a lot of the ones I was seeing when I first started looking are still for sale. The good ones might sell now and then, but the less interesting ones, are just sitting while the current owners dream of prices they clearly aren't getting paid. And these are not cars that will benefit from sitting and waiting. They may be old cars, and getting increasingly rare, but so are the people who remember and want to buy them. I have a theory on the crazy prices. I think that because an RS or XR is worth a decent amount, people think they can get a similar amount for their rusty shopping trolley, so they advertise too high. Then the owners of the RS and XRs see this and put their prices up, because clearly they are worth more. Its a vicious circle. They may be old cars, and getting increasingly rare, but so are the people who want to buy them. They may be old cars, and getting increasingly rare, but so are the people who want to buy them. They may be old cars, and getting increasingly rare, but so are the people who want to buy them.
Using x14sz motor code for 20 years same color ,but it cant sync with new cars in terms of gear ratio even new trucks going with 120 km/h with low rpm ı am at 3000 rpm at 100km/h sometimes roads looks never ends with this speed.ı cant change it bc new cars really really unreliable ,new corsa F have rubber belt working in oil cause belt to brittle and clog oil pan filter and motor ends itsellf in 50000 km or 60000km ,their hunger for money is unblieavable.
You’d have to be absolutely bonkers to spend good money on one of these. Had one of these cars in my late teens/ early twenties. Total sh*t, lackluster power, shocking handling. Pure nostalgia play, ie waste of money.
Well I paid £1200 for my GSi in 2014 and now they regularly fetch quite a lot more than that so if I was wanting to sell it, fairly sure i'd get more then £350 :) People said that same about Nova's 15 years ago, now try and find a nice one that isn't over 10k
Yawn yawn yawn....here we go again, Jamie finds an old hatchback and tells everyone that it's the new "car thats going to go up in value". Even calls this one a 'mild hatch'. 😅
@@waynelewis5656 you seem to think that these are not future classics. I have seen 1.2 manuals sell for nearly £4,000. I remember when these were 400 quid
@@asifnoaman8978I seem to think that Jamie tries to make out he knows what cars will be future classics, like he's some sort of expert, when in reality all he's doing is finding 90s cars for sale. It's NOT a 'mild hatch' at all. My choice of car to drive is irrelevant to my opinion on future classics. What if I drive a golf R? Or a cavalier turbo 4x4? Or a Carlton gsi 3000? Or a nissan pulsar gti-r? Or a civic type r? Would any one of them make my opinion more or less valid?
@@waynelewis5656 a car doesnt necessarily have to be fast to be a future classic. Popularity, Nostalgia and car tuning culture plays a huge role. The corsa b was one of the most popular cars in the max power era and there is no denying it pushed a positive influence on the car culture for the youth at the time
