Heritage Barkeep - A .22 caliber Retro Revolver from the Wild West

The Heritage Barkeep is a 2" barrel revolver that harkens back to the Wild West where the guy that served the drinks may have also served some justice. This model has the "Custom Scroll" wood grips and a color "case hardened" frame but is also available with Pearl grips and a black frame. Even with the 2" barrel, this compact single action revolver is capable of placing shots right where you want them.

I truly hope their quality has come way up, I had one like 35 yrs ago an it was not even slightly accurate. But do to our modern age, YOU TUBE, it has been shown that some of the older ones needed the barrel recrowned for even being semi accurate, thx for the vid.

William McCaslin Yep. My 4.75 inch is an old one and I had to recrown the muzzle to remove the mar but it shoots great after that. Some folks have their sights off target but instead of bending the front sight that can break off they should just turn the barrel a bit left or right to correct it and/or file the front sight down if its shooting low. If its shooting high you're out of luck. Haha. I never had to fix the sights on mine after the muzzle recrown. Its accurate.

Mr Richard not a comment a question.I am going to get my hands on a barkeep after waiting so long.Was wondering if it would be better to get a small wood dowling to eject the empty cases because I didn't want to scratch the inside of the chambers or is that not a concern?

I think I know why the rod for ejecting the shells. I bought my daughter a Heritage Rough Rider with a three inch barrel. The ejector is too short to push the brass out as compared to their longer barreled revolvers. I am sure it would be worse for a two inch barrel.

I honestly can't get my head around this concept of engaging the safety with the hammer on an empty chamber as per the instruction manual. Its like they're saying "The gun has a safety - it can't be trusted, but use it anyway, particularly when there isn't a round in the chamber to keep safe."

those are cool i just really dislike that safety its the deal breaker for me but if i see one ill buy it and figure out a work around i bet the wrangler is the next short barrel to come out and the really funny thing is back in the 70s there was a recession and the gun manufacturers all made little 22 revolvers so people could go out and cowboy shoot too and its kind of cool seeing a resurgance in that now and i believe here pretty soon some of the older 22s are going to go up in price

Lol! Thank you very much! I enjoy making videos like this (even more when the weather is better) I blame it all on Santee @Arizona Ghostriders! Sometimes I do just plain ones too. Thank you for watching!

I have 3 of them. One like you have that I converted to bird's head, the other two inch black pearl, and a 3 inch "case hardened" wood. And yes, like potato chips...I have eight of them now. Waiting for a Rancher. Definitely cool little plinkers. Cool video too, thanks.

Great little revolver where do you find these things? LOL. You're going to make me broke.to I just ordered another kit it's a .44 caliber from Dixie Gun Works . It's a Pedesoli 3 screw pistol Derringer type pistol I think that's what it's called. They have a real nice .36 caliber also revolver I might get a revolver too it's mostly finishing but something to do. Well it will take a while to arrive and I will need caps anyway. They make some nice stuff. I really want to get a .22 revolver now. I have a friend who's a cop who maybe speed it up for as far as a pistol permit. If they want they could do it in a day. I know a girl I worked with she got it in a day. She agreed to have dinner with the cop who interviewed her. Thanks for the videos well done.

Check with your state, these aren't allowed in some states because of the alloy the frame/receiver is made from, they have a low melting point. N.Y. may be one of those states. I hit the local gun shops all the time just to see if there's anything that might make a good review video, if I can afford it too. I would like to pick up a BP revolver kit myself, one of these days! Thanks for watching!

@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I will ask these pocket pistols are at a premium here.. People are carrying them even without a ccp. I have a old two shot .45 derringer I take that if I go to the city. But I avoid the city. One of my Drs is in Brooklyn but it's my old neighborhood which is still nice. I go once a month. What caliber would you get with a BP kit?
@SmallCaliberArmsReview
@SmallCaliberArmsReview 3 года назад
@@m2gjam139 probably. 44, they seem to be the most common.

There have been some who have modified their Bar Keep to use a Bird's Head Frame and Grip. I think that configuration looks best with' the Bar Keep.

@@SmallCaliberArmsReview With the Bird's Head Frame and Grips the Barkeep looks balanced. Last year I bought my first Rough Rider revolver. It is the " Johnny Boy " edition . It has the 4.75" barrel, faux case hardened frame and the Laminated Camo grips. I especially like the grips. The multi colored laminated wood reminds me of the stock of the Canadian CMP Rifle. Did you know that Hickock45 grows the Laminated Trees on his property and sells the wood to Heritage to make the Laminate grips? well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
@SmallCaliberArmsReview
@SmallCaliberArmsReview 2 года назад
I avoided Heritage revolvers for years, then after buying one, I was hooked. Laminated wood can make use of smaller pieces that would otherwise go to waste. They've also made it stronger and look better than before.
