Thankful to RU-vid! Now I can watch actual history programs, instead of Ancient Aliens 24/7! Good job Mark! Do what you love- you'll never work a day in your life! Can see how much this history means to you!!!
It is a lovely place Traquair House, I'll be honest, I don't think we paid too much attention to the trees when we visited... was more interested in the Jacobites and the brewery. If we visit again, will be sure to pay more attention to the trees. There were many grand specimens you pointed out. The place always makes me wonder why the lands were never confiscated by the crown after Culloden. Interesting tale, when I was looking into the Northumbrian Jacobites I got talking to a Maxwell who was related to the Traquair Maxwells and now lives on the housing estate they built on top of Lord Widdrington's old mansion. He was very proud of his family's Jacobite past and ancestral connections to Traquair House.
I live in galashiels so thought it was boring a year ago when I moved here, but thanks to coming accross your video by chance, I feel differently now. Cheers 😘
Nice mate, I grew up in Innerleithen and always loved going up to the grounds at Traquair! I just enjoyed them as a kid but you brought it out in a new light! Cheers
They may be called Heritage Trees because they grow so slowly and are very old. The Scot name Moncrief means bough from the sacred tree. Can imagine the ancient Scot tribes meeting under sacred trees and setting the foundations of local government by which the UK and USA are ruled today.
