We're heading to Auld Kirk in the Scottish borders to see the Kirk that links Franklin D Roosevelt to William Wallace. PS...Sorry about Mel Gibson in the thumbnail I know Braveheart is not historically accurate but it looks good :D

All cemeteries are beautiful, but a shame it’s not being looked after. The art work and history alone should be enough, but not that many care anymore. Thank you as always.

DNA said I’m about 50% Scottish, which is great. I recently discovered my grandparents are also Roosevelts, and FDR shared the same grandparents. The William Wallace connection really ties it together nicely. Very nice coincidence, and proud to learn of a real Scottish connection.

I don't think there is an actual grave of William Wallace, as you know he was hung and Quartered and his body parts were placed at all four quarters of England, Berwick being the farthest near the Scottish border.

@Herr_Flick_of_ze_Gestapo Год назад
He also didnt had the right to be buried in a cemetary as he was Roman-Catholic and he was considered an aposate and by most Scots people as a barbaric criminal and a thug. As he was sentenced to death he was not allowed a spot on consacrated ground. ps: it was thanks to the Scottish people that he was captured and trialed for his crimes. William wallace more or less didnt became a hero until the victorian era, the age of over-romantisizing scottishness and writing heroic pseudohistoric novels of chivalry and bravery.

There are some stocks in Berwick in Northumberland, just at the side of the old town hall, I have seen this spot a few times. Well they aren't the real stocks, just reproductions but but one of Wallaces arms were hung there for sometime in the day. It would obviously been a different building back in his day but if it is correct then it is a place worth visiting.
