Hey I think the cooling gel actually works. In your test you concluded that it did *not* work because the gaming backrest was warmer than the non-gaming, but this actually means the chair is conducting heat away from your body faster than non-gaming. Copper is a highly conductive metal with a low specific heat so it “feels” colder to the touch even when it’s at the same temperature as a normal cloth material. The reason it feels colder is because it conducts heat away from your skin efficiently. It’s the same principle behind putting an ice cube on a metal block vs an ice cube on a book. Both the book and the metal block are the same temperature, but the ice will melt immediately on the metal and not the book. The gaming embody getting measured at a temperature closer to your body temperature after 30 mins actually suggests that the copper cooling gel does work, even if it’s marginal.
Looking to buy one within the next couple of weeks. But I am from Denmark (EU)... Is it possible for you to get an affiliate link from their DK site? I believe it's called "Dkgaming.hermanmiller (...)" ❤, Dan
I also have to tell you that this is the most comprehensive comparison on youtube at the moment. When i did my shopping last year for this chair, i had to dig through endless dated reddit threads for my answers. This video will help a LOT of people.
Got one last week cause of your videos, ordered the headrest as well, big thank you for helping me, so far this chair is a blessing even with the crazy price tag
The gaming embody + atlas headrest have been some of my best purchases of all time. I don't see myself using a different chair until this one collapses out of warranty. I went from those crappy racing chairs to this and it's just a night and day difference.
I've been using an Embody for 10 years or more. The hydraulic leaked and I replaced it for $100-$200. One of the armrests is splitting on the seam but it's not bad and you can get replacements. The cushion wears down and you feel the parts underneath a bit more. It's still my favorite chair.
I'm currently trying to talk myself into buying a gaming embody (which will involve taking on some creditcard debt for a couple of months lol)and your comment is convincing me to go for it
@@MVIVN Hey, I'm just some dude on the internet, so feel free to tell me to go eff off, but I really don't recommend you take on CC debt for this! CC debt is the worst with crazy high interest, and you never know what'll happen between now and when you finish paying off the chair (if you're not able to make payment, you'll be taking on more debt and it'll hurt your credit score)! If you absolutely need a good ergonomic chair, there are a lot of solid chairs out there for cheaper and I'm putting out a video today (12PM est) about an alternative way to go about buying an ergonomic chair that can save you some money! If you need any advice, feel free to reach out! Would be happy to help...especially if it means not seeing you go into credit card debt over a chair!!!
To give a different perspective: As a pretty tall person myself (200 cm/ 6'5 ft), I don't have any issues with the OG Embodys (2023) back shape at the top. It doesn't even get uncomfortable when I adjust the back fit tention to the maximum, which I never do during normal use. Just some anecdotal evidence, but maybe it helps someone to decide :) Great content als always.
Thanks for your comment ! I am a Little smaller than you about 6.4 193cm. Could you tell me a little more about your chair ? How is the seating height especially. That would interest me a lot! Thank you in advance
@@GbproofaccountTheMaster Despite having long legs even for my height, I don't even use the highest possible seat position of the Embody, so it shouldn't be an issue for you I guess. Only the seat depth has to be maxed out, but then it's pretty great. I tried the Haworth Fern as well since it has a comparable and very nice backrest, but the seat pan is not ideal for taller persons. I am very happy with the Embody, try it for yourself if you get the chance 👍🏼
@@niko_nikitiadis thank you for your reply !! I appreciate it a lot. I unfortunately can’t try the Herman miller chairs out :( I tried and requested it at several dealers but they only accept corporate clients… Interesting that you don’t even use the highest seating height of the chair ! I even thought the highest one wouldn’t be enough. I will order the original embody and give it a shot :)
Tried out both the gaming and regular embody, and prefer the regular embody (Both 2023 models). No squeaking when moving and the backrest forms itself better to my back. Apart from that they basically feel the same.
I can actually answer the question at ~ 1:10 mark about pricing: The classic embody has a higher selection of colorways, materials, and casters, so they construct them upon order. The gaming embody has only four options that are pre-built, so they just pull your selection off the shelf. It's not the cost of the materials, it's more of the time/customization (and possibly the knowledge that they can eek out a bit more cost from businesses buying non-gaming Embody chairs).
I own regular embody for year and a half, no problem whatsoever. But after watching this video, the problem arise. Now I want the gaming one. 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨
I bought the gaming embody last November, hands down the best work from home office chair. I did decide to purchase the headrest a week ago cause it would be nice to have my neck/head supported to fully relax when I lean back. It is expensive but I figure it’s an investment since I’m going to spending years sitting in this chair 8hrs a day.. it’s totally worth it! I hope HM never discontinues the gaming embody
Excellent comparison. I've been considering this purchase for over a year and your videos helped a lot. I'm buying one this week. Going with the regular embody just for the custom color configurations. I'll be sure to use your link. Thanks bro!
Great comparison video! I tried the two of them at a HM store last year and preferred the non-gaming. I found the ridges on the backrest to be uncomfortable on the gaming version. They felt pretty similar other than that.
Your commented reminded me that I commented that I could feel the ridges when I first got the gaming Embody, but they're virtually non-feelable now. I think that might be a result of breaking in the chair...sigh...maybe I'll buy a new gaming Embody to compare...after I make back the money spent on this video 😂😅
Regarding thermals: 1. It's not a heat gun, it's a thermal camera 2. The copper-infused foam (not gel) wouldn't be cooler itself - it would, if it works, pull the heat from your body quicker. So if the seating area is warmer after sitting in, it could be a sign of it working properly. You would need to measure body temperature of the affected areas too to conclude tho'. So if you really wanna test it, you need to strip down to your boxers, sit in the Embody for x amount of time, get up, and record yourself and the chair with a thermal camera. Then wait for your body and the chair to reach equilibrium and repeat a couple of times. Then do the same for the Embody Gaming and compare results. That way you can conclusively tell whether the chair effectively cools you or not.
why stop at boxers ;-) And thanks for your input!! Maybe one day when I get some staff members around here (who also don't see as stripping down as workplace misconduct 😂)
@@Ahnestly Ay, I’ll leave that up to you. You could start an OnlyChairs. 🤷🏼♂️ But you could blur some areas a bit. The most important part is of course the rear of the legs and the back - and the butt. Luckily it’s limited how much is visible in infrared, so maybe you wouldn’t feel super exposed. 😅
Never thought about this.. makes complete sense. Odd to type this out but trapped heat in the seating area can be a big deal for males who want to procreate.. average sperm counts have gone down over the last few decades. Many believe it's due to more sitting at computer desks.
Bless. We’ve needed a comprehensive comparison video like this with a newer regular Embody very badly in the community, and you delivered! It sounds like I may have made a mistake buying the regular Embody instead of the gaming one a year ago, given this comparison. But to be fair, I think it was the correct decision given the information I had at the time. The biggest factors being the noise, hearing that the foam in the backrest on the gaming one was uneven, and hearing that there were more quality control issues with the gaming one due to it being mass-produced (whereas the regulars are usually custom-made, hence the higher price). But it sounds like based off your review here that the foam in the backrest may not be an issue, and that the quality control observation may have been worth risking (worst case scenario, you return the chair for another one). And on the subreddit I’m even hearing that the noise may not be an issue anymore on the newer gaming Embodies, based off of what some people who bought ones recently are saying.
Same here on Logi vs regular Embody. The lack of a location with showroom to try all the different chairs really hurt giving the Logi model a shot. I have been thinking of lifting the seat cover off and adding another thin layer of foam to my Embody.
The headrest changes everything for me, went from regretting the purchase to: Yay I like my expensive chair! lol. The squeaking is definitively loud on my gaming Embody
How tall are you? And did you notice a posture difference from before and after using the headrest? Like it made you able to sit differently upright or anything?
@@thedumbstuff4170 I'm 5' 7", it definitively changed my posture, but I sit in a million different ways so it's hard to say how it changed it exactly. I mostly use it as a neck support more so than head support, unless I'm really leaning back. I'll warn people that all these ergo chairs, embody included, make you sit healthier, but won't be the ultimate comfort. The Embody gaming has been the least 'weird' feeling to me in the ergo space, but it'll never FEEL comfortable like a SecretLabs style chair or even a cushy fabric chair might.
I'm surprised you say that cos I assumed I would be buying the headrest, but I've found that even when reclined to the second last tilt limit position I find it keeps my head pretty upright naturally. Maybe if you're in the most reclined position a lot? Maybe you also have the backrest fully loosened and tension loosened too?
Just ordered the gaming embody, using your link. I have learned good furniture makes a huge difference in health and quality of life, so I'm sure this investment will payoff for my music studio. Thanks for the comprehensive videos. They really helped me decide.
Hey! I really REALLY appreciate it! I haven't seen anything come through on my end...would you be able to send me an email at ahntouragemedia@gmail.com? If not, no big deal, but trying to see if my links are being weird. Thanks!!
I wasnt even looking to buy a new chair and I saw this vid and also the black friday deal not knowing anything about HM and just skipped to the final thoughts. I guess I now own one. I used your link, you enabler...
One of us...one of us...now go, and bring your friends to me. HAHA yooo seriously though, let me know how you like it!!! (Also, thank you SO MUCH for using my link. Really helps the channel a LOT.) Also, if it helps, the reason why I have so many people come through my studio is because one guy I know bought one, and he loved it so much, he started telling all his friends, who all started hitting me up asking if they could test them. So far, not a single person has walked out without thinking the Gaming Embody was the best chair.
Between working from home full time and being an avid gamer, i finally decided to invest in a good chair. Ordered the Gaming Embody last night to take advantage of the sale. It'll be here Sunday. Can't wait. And although very backordered, I also ordered the Atlas headrest to go with it. Thanks for the review. Definitely feeling like I made the right decision.
I just placed an order for the regular embody in the sync fabric a few days ago, I'm excited to see when it comes in and to rewatch this video to do a comparison of my own. Awesome video!
I prefer the regular embody. While I will concede the seat on the gaming is a little more comfortable, I vastly prefer the back of the regular. I didnt really like the padded strip on the gaming embody. It came out feeling very odd to me. The regular embody feels like leaning back into a hammock. For size reference, I'm 6'4" and 325 pounds.
I've never tried the gaming chair, but I couldn't be more pleased with the regular variety I got. It's perfectly quiet, on top of being incredibly comfortable and supportive. I'm confident I made the right choice.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, all! I was surprised at how quickly all my friends decided on the gaming Embody over the regular one. I'm wondering if with the lumbar changes, if HM hasn't made other changes to the non-gaming models? Mine feels much more skeletony compared to the gaming!
Sitting in my Embody right now, like I said before some days I love it, some days I don't. Yesterday it felt great, today meh. Still love how it looks so I will keep it in the house but overall I think my V1 Leap is more comfortable and I tried a V2 Leap with the bigger back and headrest and that feels even nicer. I am going to get this time instead an Ekornes office chair or Gunlocke Washington. On a sidenote I just got a similar thermal camera, it's awesome for finding poorly insulated spots in the house.
I did not even think about all the ways I could use this thermal camera...THIS IS BRILLIANT! My house does a terrible job insulating itself, and this is awesome! Thank you!!!
@@Ahnestly It's seriously great at finding poorly insulated areas as well as any water leaks etc. Get a good moisture meter too. Topdon makes nice stuff but I went with Flir, the industry leader for thermal cameras. Paid about the same too.
@@Ahnestly If there is water it will show up as purple. If you think maybe the wall got wet inside then you just press the moisture meter against the drywall and it will tell you if it’s definitely wet or not. If your friends and family are buying a house not bad to take these with them and see for themselves if there are any issues.
Say what you will, that (and my) Nightfall Embody is gorgeous. I got mine in the black frame but man that white is crisp too. I do intend to throw some memory foam under my seat, which is extremely easy to do. The back might be a little more tricky though. Fortunately, I also have an Atlas headrest which mitigates a majority of the aggressiveness on the shoulders.
My Amethyst gaming version is on its way. Thanks to your reviews I got a good chunk of guidance for my purchasing journey. Went to the showrooms, had a sit on the Fern and on the Embody, and made my call. Thank you.
a truly fantastic in depth comparison video. thank you for making this - clicked your link hopefully goes through if I do purchase one, had to turn off some tracking ad block extensions to allow it to go through.
Just bought my chair based on your past review and you are spot on. Have the Gaming Embody does feel far better to me. Off note, I know there are reviews about the plastic noise with movement, I barely notice it as a 1st timer owner of HM chair. You would have to be a noise free room to really hear it that much. Just wish at this price it had a headrest (purchased the Atlas headrest after market).
I have multiple embodys and one gaming embody. It is more cushy and nearly everyone agrees whos been in my studio, but I got some folks here in the comments saying they think otherwise!
Made a purchase of the Logitech Embody Gaming Chair. Your links did not work for the Black/Cyan color that I wanted and also went to UK rather than US. Wrote them a letter to credit you and your channel for the purchase. Thanks for your reviews. Very helpful to define how I sit and what chair may work best for me. Also liked your recommendation for the roller blade wheels from Amazon and headrest from Atlas.
Hey!! Thank you for doing that! They said they're going to launch a UK affiliate program soon, so I asked if I could join it. They asked for my reach/demographics, so things like this help! Really appreciate it!
ive had the chair for 3 years, i love it..... just got the atlas headrest in and damn its perfect. the headrest is spot on. the complaints of the noise from the chair? i dont understand what youre talking about? in the 3 years i have used it every day, not once have i ever "heard" anything?
The reason why the Gaming embody was hotter when you left the seat IS because the heat absorbed your body heat. The reason why the one without the cooling mechanism in was cooler, was because it insulated your body head instead of absorbing it. That's how heat works.
A better way to test the cooling mechanism, would have been to use warm silicone place that on the chair, measure the temperature before and after, and how quickly it cooled to a chosen temperature.
I have a Herman Miller Caper now but purchased it because space was limited at the time. I now have a larger office and want the most comfortable Herman Miller chair. Your video sold me on the Embody Gaming version! Thank you very much for taking the time to film and post this excellent comparison video! Sub and Like added! Now I've just got to pick the best color for my Embody Gaming Chair =)
Thank you for the kind words and You’re very welcome! When you do decide on color, please consider using my link, as it helps the channel a LOT!! Also, I used to own a decked out caper (got it for $100) and appreciate it a lot!!
@@Ahnestly Awesome! I completely understand how it works and I'll use your link =). I like the caper and actually purchased it because it could be configured without arms and tuck underneath a desk. At the time, my wife had the large office and I had the small office. We switched rooms and now that I have more space, I want a more comfortable chair =). By the way, you should do a Caper vs. Embody comparison video. The Caper is surprisingly comfortable but I assume that the Embody grossly trumps it?
@IrixGuy the caper was meant to be a meeting chair (sit on it for meetings), and never designed to be an all day chair. It is night and day difference between embody and caper…I’d love to do a budget friendly HM chair review (their lower end stuff), but the caper isn’t sold in store anymore! Would have to hunt that sucker down. And it comes in so many variants! Mine had mesh seat and a 5 star base, but usually it comes with 4 legs and the plastic seat!
Thank you for the kind words!!! I'm finding cool uses for the thermal camera from these comments, so that's cool I guess....(would rather have my $400 back though LOL)
Great video. Your videos have been very helpful. Yesterday I went to a local store that sells Herman Miller chairs and I compared the crap out of the regular and gaming versions. Seats up and down, backrest in all levels of recline, chair lengthened and shortened, moving back and forth and left and right, full lumbar to zero lumbar (I know it's the entire back that moves, not just the lumbar area), sitting properly and cross-legged (I constantly go back and forth), back and forth between the chairs multiple times. And I think I'm going with the regular Embody, although I'm taking my wife there to have her test it too. The noise of the gaming chair was just too much for me. The regular Embody didn't have anywhere near that level of crunching noise that the gaming one did, as you can clearly hear in your demonstration, and the seat just felt more comfortable overall. So I'm pretty sure the regular Embody is the one for me.
I noticed that cross legged sitting was slightly more comfy on the non-gaming, but I couldn't tell if that was bc I had 2 years of sitting on the gaming Embody to properly tell! But the noise stuff makes sense
I didn't state it explicitly but yes sitting cross legged seemed more comfortable on the regular. I have no idea how old the chairs were that I tested or how much they'd been broken in by shoppers.@@Ahnestly
I got the regular Embody about a year ago. I wanted the white chair so my choice was easy. I also got upgraded castors. I also added extra foam padding in my seat under the cushion off Amazon, and it made a huge difference for about $25. I also solved the squeakiness with a little silicon spray when I got it.
Thank you for the tip, I am very sensitive to noise, so I would like you to confirm that you are effectively able to fight the arrival of noise through frequent use of silicone spray? Your one-year experience and your fight against noise interest me greatly.
I have been waiting on my tax return to buy the gaming embody. Yesterday it was $1845. Today it is $1995. What the heck. Do the prices fluctuate often? That's a big jump in the price.
My Secretlab is 8 or so years old and needs to be retired. I struggle with lower back issues from time to time and now I'm looking at a chair 5 times the cost of my old Secretlab, which I thought was expensive lol. But this looks so good.
Darnit Dan! Because of the significant discounts right now, I just purchased/received the regular embody. I wish I'd seen this video first. Now I'm going to have to exchange. Appreciate you!
First of all, thanks for the effort you put into these videos! I already commented on one of your other videos that I ended up getting an Embody like two weeks ago. Would probably have gone for a gaming one if it was possible but it's not here in Norway. I also went for the Rythm fabric instead of the Sync, simply due to the pricing here, it was quite a bit cheaper. According to HM's own site though it seems like they're very similar, but hey I have no idea. I do like the chair, but I'm still getting used to it, trying to figure out the "perfect" settings for me.
Some people oil the joints of the gaming embody or do minor mods that a novice can do to reduce the noise (minor mods on a similar level to installing the Atlas headrest such as using different types of screws in certain areas or tightening them more than what Herman Miller does out of the factory because I read that is a problem too and there are also mods like lightly sanding a spot which is almost hidden to the naked eye from most angles so there is less plastic scraping each other but the sanding job is hidden from view from above)
I am looking because I have had 3 back surgeries and sit in a chair for over 8 hours a day. I was looking at the gaming embody last year and wish I would have purchased then, it is currently $300 more today then it was then. Appreciate your video!
I did a ton of research and besides looks, most people seem to like the regular embody more. They say the back is too stiff on the gaming snd also there’s some spine padding that feels uncomfortable. Also like you said, the noise is annoying
So odd! I didn't even say anything and everyone instantly shouted "yeah the gaming one is significantly better". The top of the shoulder rest killed it for the taller guys (6' + guys), and the cushion sealed the deal for the shorter folks
I went with the non-gaming Embody years ago (2020). I didn't particular like the chair because it was before HM added extra cushions. It felt overhyped, overpriced, and uncomfortable. I added extra paddings to the seat and back along with an Atlas Headrest, and now I'm in love with my chair.
Interesting. I own one of each of these chairs and I prefer the Non gaming chair. Primarily because i prefer less cushioning on the non gaming chair. I have had the non gamer for about 10 years and I love it. Overall, these are the best chairs I have found. i can be in either one all day and not have back or butt pain.
Thanks for this video! I've been going back and forth the last few days on what chair to buy. Watched a couple of your other videos as well. Decided on the Embody but then wasn't sure about gaming vs non-gaming. This video has helped push me towards the gaming.
Nice!! Glad it helped! Let me know what you decide/how you like it, and please consider using my links if you decide to pick up, helps the channel a lot!!
Get the regular, most people say the gaming is stiff/creaks/you can feel the ridges. This guy is probably paid by HM to advertise the cookie cutter chairs theyre trying to sell in bulk
@@wazewaze8185 Who is "most people"? And my man...you are sorely confused about my relationship with HM. I had to buy this chair with my own money bc HM won't send me anything. None of the other major brands make me do that lol.
@@Ahnestly Yeah and you just return it within a week or two so you can get a full refund. You are sitting in a chat for a few hours before you make your half a decision. The real review from “people” is the ones who have sat in both for weeks before deciding. You’re miss leading for your own gain with a few minutes to hours owning the chair
@@wazewaze8185 haha ok hold on. Did I do something to offend you? Because you're making some crazy assumptions here. I did not return the chair, it's sitting in my studio right now. I even said in the video I purchased the chair over 1.5 months ago before I even made the video (and sat in it for 3 weeks straight to make sure I was getting things right). So how do I return it when it's way past the return window? I even ordered a matching nightfall headrest for it, hoping it would get here before I made the video, but Atlas Headrest was still backed up. and didn't get it in time. So yeah...this was a $2,000+ video (not including cost for my own time and skills). And icing on the cake...if what you're saying is true, why wouldn't I tell people to buy the more expensive one? The non-gaming Embody costs more AND can cost like $500 more if you get all the fancy optional upgrades. Just getting a white frame for the regular one brings the price to $2k! I stand to make more money on promoting that one. Can you explain your logic?
just bought my gaming HM embody comparing it to the regular gaming body (used) can definitely say yes it is very comfortable but you got to take into consideration this is to help with posture and it doesn't come with a headrest nor a leg rest like a typical gaming racing chair does but I will say the regular embody did feel a bit rougher and cheaper comparing it to the gaming version but one thing to also take into consideration is that if you buy it used and some parts look bad you aren't granted a 12 warranty for the chair but this is just my hot take obviously you can buy a headrest and a leg rest for this but these things are optional also... Thank you Ahnestly also for showing me everything about this chair that I wouldn't have known on the chair like functions and other cool stuff like buying guides and other alternatives if we cant afford high end pricey chairs which I wouldn't have known of :)
I finally bought one after watching this video for dozen times! Im going for the og pinecone color coz the store in my country only sell the black, cyan and ametyst, i want the galaxy one coz it looks better than amethyst but atlas do not make the headrest for that color. Og is quite comfortable when i tried it on the store so im still a happy person!
Great review, but did I miss the armrests review section? I'm interested in the cushioning on the armrests and how they compare to something like a Steelcase Leap v2.
Haha these chairs aren't cheap...and recouping my costs on a video like this can be difficult! I hope the video added enough value to you all to warrant asking people to not forget to support the channel!
Thank you, fantastic video, and you addressed the bigger question of 2021 Embody vs Gaming Embody. The only problem is that HM doesn't deliver to where I live and they are the only ones that sell the Gaming version T.T
I spent soooo long researching chairs. You convinced me to get the gaming Embody. I hope I like it. It will definitely be better than this junk I got from Office Max.
Nice!! If you decide to pick up, please consider using my links (either through the RU-vid Shop or using an actual link in description! Helps the channel a LOT! Currently 20% off too until the 29th!
Hey this is a really good review and I have a huge question, I have a herniated disc in my lower back, are either of these chair suitable for long periods with my condition?
Hey! I’m always hesitant to answer these questions since I am not a medical professional. My general thought is that the higher end chair brands may have given more thought to this issue than cheaper chair companies. But you can’t know unless you try it as well. If you’re ok with paying a reshipping fee ($50ish), then you could try the embody out and see if it’s a good fit. Another possible chair to look at would be the Anthros chair! Hope this helps and really hoping you find a good chair for your needs!
I genuinely wonder if Logitech's logo being on the gaming embody has something to do with the price. Like maybe they're covering some of the manufacturer's costs and negotiated the price? Like it's cheaper in that regard too, so people are going to be more inclined to purchase the gaming version and it's advertising for logitech.
@ Ahnestly Thank you for all your in depth videos! I’m deciding on the embody but haven’t came across how it would conform to bigger body types. I’m 5’11 240 with a 22” chest. I’ve noticed the back rest might be a little thin for my back but just checking if you’ve read or seen anything on this! Thank you sir!
No one has reported this issue (although some think it!). Only issue might be the top of the frame hitting your shoulders in a weird way. Some tall people notice it, others don't! Getting a headrest could relieve that issue though (but it's a hefty price to pay for "maybe").
I had the exact opposite impression. I tried both chairs in store and immediately felt the plastic in the lumbar area in the gaming version due to the indent. I opted for the regular version but ended up returning it because it actually became less comfortable over the three and a half weeks I had it, including in the lumbar area. Some people say it takes three months to fully adjust to the chair but I wasn't willing to wait that long especially since it would be outside the return window.
@@jthompson7024i have an Aeron classic and just picked up my embody gaming from Herman miller in dc. In store both embody felt great. Now that I’m home. After a gaming session just doesn’t feel as comfortable like the aeron. I’m really trying to like this chairs since it was a bday gift to myself. Now I’m sitting on it responding to you. I think I’m having buyers remorse. But ima have to put some more seat time into it.
@@joste77kept the embody. After a week i got used to it. Super comfy now got the atlas headrest to complete it. Recline on aeron is still unmatched in my opinion.
@@Ahnestly Haha I clicked off the video and went to the HM website and ordered myself a black gaming version, they are 25% right now so I couldn’t let the offer pass up! Thanks, I’m looking forward to testing it!
Thanks @Ahnestly. Good vid, hard choice now, especiallly after this good comparaison. 2 questions if i can. - Do you think the padded strip on the gaming embody the Gaming Embody can be uncomfortable on a small personn (i'm approximately 5' 9)? - what about the resistance when you lean back ? which one is the least hard? i'm approximately 143 lbs (don't want to feel like uncomfortable or figting to keep a good position)
@Ahnestly Thank you for the fantastic content. Does the Gaming Embody come with hard floor castors as standard? I intend to use mine on hard wood floor. I know hard floor castors required extra payment previously.
I have heard some taller folks have experienced pain from this chair as it causes their shoulders to roll forward. Is this a tall person centric issue? I haven't seen much of a work-around except placing a towel in the center. I'm 6'3 myself so that is a concern as I almost financed one of these.
I replaced my Secretlab Titan XL 2020, with the gaming Herman Miller Embody, and I like it. One point of clarification from the video. My chair only makes any audible noise if you are squirming all around like what he did in the video. If you just sit in one place like a normal person you aren't going to hear anything major.
Hey @Ahnestly! Do you know what kind of casters come with the Gaming version? Their own website does not mention this. I cant find it anywhere. The regular Embody has three caster choices, so I am wondering which of those come with the Gaming version.
The problem I have with my Herman Miller Gaming Embody chair is that the handles on the front of the seat dig into the bottoms of my thighs on both sides. Doesn't matter if I have them fully extended or fully retracted, the plastic digs into my legs. I had to buy a 4" deep memory foam cushion to solve the issue. Kinda lame when I already paid so much for a chair that's already super expensive.
I just got mine yesterday, so far my real complaint about the chair is the lack of adjustability with the armrest. Also, when you tilt back with the chair it aims the armrest at an angle which I find uncomfortable. I just ordered some pads for the armrest and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the headrest. Also does the seat break in a bit over time? I find its a little bit hard on the butt IMO a chair that cost me 2200$ should have 4 D armrests Just ordered the headrest 😂😂
LOL nice. Headrest is gamechanger IMHO. And yeah, I think people are reporting the gaming ridges aren't comfortable. It reminded me of when I first got the gaming Embody - I felt them a lot more. But now, I barely feel them. I think that's the result of me breaking in the chair
@@Ahnestly I absolutely love the chair even with its faults, I had bought a Fern which was also a great chair but decided to return it to buy the chair I REALLY wanted. I wonder how long it will take to get the headrest... it was crazy expensive in Canada clocking in at 283$
For me the Aeron was better. I have both Gaming Embody and Aeron. Aeron is for me more confortable and better in back support. But each person has different body. So, test both.
I am unfortunately in the process of returning my Regular Embody. Perhaps if I had gone into this chair a year ago from that crappy SecretLab chair I previously owned, Iwould have been satisfied. However I already had a refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 for the past 4 months. The comfort was minimal in comparison to the Leap; certainly not enough to justify $1500.
I’m torn on gaming but can t decide on cyan or black. What’s everyone’s view? I liked the special edition embody but couldn’t justify extra money. I’m thinking black.
Black on black is smexy! I personally wanted to get the Amethyst or Galaxy, but bought this one instead for this video 😂 If you do end up picking up, please consider using my links! Helps the channel a lot!!!
After trialing the Embody for over a week a few years ago, I ended up just getting another Steelcase Leap II. I loved the comfort of the Embody (far better than the Leap), but as a gamer, there was a dealbreaker: the armrests. As a gamer, I need a stable rest for my mouse arm to be on. The Embody's armrests are physically fixed to the seat/back. That means every time you squirm, reposition, rock, etc., the armrest rocks back and forth. This is terrible for precise mouse play, especially on shooters. The Leap, despite its shortcomings (specifically seat padding), has its armrests fixed to the base. When you move, they don't. My guess is this wasn't covered in this video because the armrests are functionally identical on these two models.
Just decided to return my Embody, which is a regular one. I'm 6 feet 2, and the rounded edges in the top permanently give me a trigger point massage.. which does not work well if you need to sit in it 8 hours a day. I even found out that for the upper part my body almost does not make contact with the chair, except for those two devil-horns. It is bizarre that a 1400 euro chair with years of research (more like marketing blabla) does not provide comfort, or at least cannot be changed in this respect.
Just bought the regular embody with sync so far I love it I did order the atlas headrest but it's on backorder for 4 to 8 weeks 😢 I'm 6"0 and I can kinda feel the rounding on the shoulders but it's not bad. I didn't like the ridge pattern on the logitech. My friend bought one and I tested it after I'm glad I went with the non gaming.
Yeah I'm hearing this quite a bit from folks...I made sure to wear a pretty thin shirt when doing my testing, but I'm thinking the reason I can't feel it is because mine is a bit older and the foam has compressed more? Thanks for the insight!!
The gaming embody may be hotter because of the extra foam. It insulates the heat from disapating. Which does not prove that the copper infused foam is marketing junk. The chair may have had an even larger temperature delta if it didn't have the copper infused foam and instead only had "regular" foam.
Great video! In your recent Fractal Refine video you commented on its comfort for users who sit on their leg and/or cross-legged. Could you please comment on the same for the Embody? Often I like to sit with my foot resting on the seat (tucked under the other foot), so chairs with sculpted seats (like the Refine, Aeron and similar) are a no-go for me. How does the Embody fare in this regard? Sorry to bother you, but I have nobody else to ask. Thanks for your input!
