@@alexworm1707 not if it's uncomfortable. it's crazy that when i was younger, like over 20 years ago, i bought a computer chair at staples for $100. i sat in that thing at least 12 hours a day and never felt uncomfortable in it, and after years of sitting in it those long hours it still looked and felt like new. if they could make a chair that comfortable all those years ago for that price, there's no excuse for chairs this expensive to be uncomfortable for most people. i swear they do it on purpose. if all these companies made extremely comfortable, long lasting chairs for a reasonable price, they'd lose so much money. so they make them half assed so people are constantly looking for something better. i have no idea what kind of chair it was i had, but i can't find anything like it now. it had a thick cushioned, extremely comfortable seat, and the back was just like the sear, and even the armrests were pretty thick cushion, you could lean the tips of you elbows on them for hours and still be comfortable. it wasn't only comfortable, it was really cool looking, especially for the time. i would gladly pay up to $400 for that same chair just because i know it's really comfortable and would last forever if i took care of it.
your channel is such a reminder that honestly so many brand, chair industry for sure are not competing with actually chairs with quality and competition. So glad your doing this work so that everyone get to really understand how good chairs can be and how others are flawed.
100% FACTS! the vantum is a bean counter money grab chair and HM took parts of their best chairs but made them even worse for the vantum.... that "LuMBaR Support is utterly useless! and that clunky headrest and mediocre seat cushion and the useless seat depth... I honestly think this chair was made for kids... and not for anyone serious about using it for office use or gaming
I sound like a broken record, but every time I see another review, love my logitech embody even more. Especially since I got it on sale. And it will get even better when I get the headrest for it.
With the current Nov 2023 sale going on, this thing at $636 is pretty compelling! However, personally, I think since this is ultimately an investment in overall body wellness/health, I can justify going for the Embody for about 2x the price (also on sale).

Well, I can confirm that this chair is great for hitting the ergonomics points for someone who is 5'4" but clearly lacks in quality of components. The chair seat is really hard. Especially after a few hours of sitting in. The arm rests move too much so it's hard to remember not to try to use them when adjusting in the seat. The head rest is kinda jarring and louder than expected when you put pressure on it and it moves. Definitely not smooth. Not worth the current price drop in my opinion. I'm returning which is a shame. I really, really wanted to like this chair. I never tried a Herman Miller before. Everyone I know raves about Herman Miller so I got it thinking it would be great but the Vantum was a definite disappointment. I have back issues and fibromyalgia so that hard seat was the definite deal breaker for me. It still might work for others though.
Steelcase and Herman miller's have a lot of authorized dealers who always sell for atleast 20% off. Authorizes dealers often can give you 30-40% off. The authorized dealers don't carry through vantum though
I just picked mine up on facebook market for $500 canadian (370 USD). Hopefully, it's worth the money in the long run. It's definitely an upgrade from my cheap $100 office chair from Staples that I had for 5 years.
i got the H1 from Hinomi for $500 it has all that and much more usually a $1000 chair but on sale RN and if you ask them they will send you a lowering gas can free so it sits same hight as the Vantum, because i like them low lol
No other chair like the Vantum on the market? How about the $800 ergoCentric sCentric Hybrid from Staples? 12 year warranty (with good but not quite Herman Miller-level customer service), comparable build quality, better ergonomics, way more adjustablility, and a FANTASTIC headrest.
@@9714 The Aeron has perhaps the best build quality of all office chairs; it is simply in a higher class. But I would say its comfort is more polarizing than the sCentric Hybrid.
If they made the headrest mechanism smoother and got rid of the red accents on the knobs (or made the accents chair-color-specific, like white on the white one, red on the red one, etc.), I would be considering this thing for my next chair. Would definitely have to try it out first, though.
On the complete other end of the price scale, have you ever considered doing a review on one of Lifeform's high end chairs? They're made for people who sit all day and I haven't seen a serious review of one like you provide for every chair you get your hands on.

Tried an aeron today and omg that was so good but not ideal I want a high back chair since I'm over 6 feet. I tried others before it and they felt OK but after the aeron they were total trash in comparison and they weren't cheap at £600 to £700 for some of them. Not found a place near me that has the vantum or embody chairs. The herman Miller show room is in London which is 2 hour train away or 4 hour drive.
Hi, at work i get to choose a new chair because i suffer from severe (lower)backpain. I allready had surgery but still not the result i hoped for… do you have any suggestion? I think the max budget will be around 1000€. I don’t to much for headrest or armsupport, the mail point should be lower back (pain)relief.
I like the zody 2 better too but it starts at $900ish I believe and it’s in a configuration no one will probably like :-/ to add lumbar brings it to $1000!

Hey, so they haven't responded back to me after an initial positive response...I've followed up twice now (and just did it again now)...makes me smell blood in the water. Be skeptical
the chair, just like your previoues video mentioned, is too short to support legs. Also the seat material isn't soft and smooth, which feels more like a $79 chair(just the seat part) . I've been sitting on it for a few days now and just decided to return it. Shame.
The Vantum is currently $636 brand new would you consider it? I was able to try out the Aeron and Embody and I just didnt really like the embody. The Aeron was a bit more comfortable but not as aestheticly pleasing.
Just know that it'll be a big step down in terms of quality compared to an Aeron! (Plastics, general sitting experience). But at $600ish, there really is no chair like it on the market, unfortunately. If you do decide to pick up, please consider using my links and let me know what you decide. @@Ahnestly Will definitely use your links, I appreciate your feedback and in-depth reviews. I was able to try the Vantum today at a Herman Miller showroom. It was comfortable for me but I was really disappointed with the build quality. The fabric and plastic back of the chair looked super cheap. I am leaning toward the ASUS ROG Destrier, if the Destrier had a fabric seat I would buy it right away...only thing I am pretty hesitant about. I usually take really good care of my stuff so I am not really concerned with the 2 year warranty of the ASUS.
@sheriff5909 the destrier plastic is about the same quality as the vantum, but has parts that are higher quality. But features and feel felt much better than vantum. But without warranty, it’s a tough ask
None of these prices are worth it because these companies usually sell in bulk so they have inflated prices to accommodate for bulk discounts. Purchasing as an individual is just not worth it. Your best bet is to try and get connected with someone that is planning on purchasing a bunch of chairs at a discounted price and having them order one for you.
Hmm should i get this or the titan evo 22. Not many flawless chairs in the $500-$800 market so its been a tough search. And no i dont want a $1500+ chair or buy a used chair 2nd hand. Thanks.
My personal recommendation would be get the vantum first bc it has a superior return policy, and then if you don’t like it, comment as to why and I can help you understand whether the evo 2022 would address those issues! Or wait until next weeks video where I compare 4 alternatives to the vantum (many are second hand chairs though :( )

And my worry about the titan is that the seat might be too firm even if I opt for the leatherette version. There is actually a Herman Miller show room not too far from me which I think I may check out tomorrow. I will update my thoughts if I do get experience with any of these chairs. I am 6'1 fyi
Oof yeah that seat depth might be an issue. I've had some 6'+ people comment they like it though, so you never know! Also, show rooms generally don't hold the gaming lineup...so you may want to call in advance to ask! Whatever you decide, please consider using my link! Helps the channel a LOT!
Well technically there are no flawless chairs, regardless of price point. At that price point I’d go for a Quick Ship Haworth Soji or like a BTOD refurbished Amia.
Destrier. In my review of the destrier, I think I even said this is what the vantum should have been. The only place where destrier loses out is the warranty. And price, now that vantum has dropped their price
@@AhnestlyThanks for the fast answer ! I currently have a Secretlab Omega 2020, but I'm considering a Destrier for 2 reasons: a better lombar support, and most importantly, a better back position. I have issues with my left shoulder, and the racing shape of the Secretlab tends to push/bend it forward, which I shouldn't/doesn't help. Thanks for your videos, they're really helpful !
Comparing the vantum to the flagship Steelcase and Haworth chairs seem disingenuous. Both the Fern and Leap/Gesture offer more adjustibility and overall comfort and other luxuries for the additional price they're charging, not to mention quality.
Hey I can see how you came to that conclusion. If I can share my thoughts - the purpose was to show that there is no other chair, even at the highest end, that has all the things the Vantum has. Or, if you want it, you have to pay nearly double the price. If you go lower in Haworth and Steelcase’s lineup of chairs that come closer to the Vantum’s price, none have headrests, and design language is non existent. But this is also why i said I’m making a part 2 (dropping next week) - to compare it to other chairs in similar price points of the Vantum!
Ok but here is the thing, if I am looking at $300 to $500 chairs, don't want a racing seat, and am willing to spend that $800 if it means a much better chair for the money, is the Vantum better than the Amazon "insert weird brand name here" mesh chars etc. because as much as I want the HM Embody Gaming chair, I only have 1 kidney left!!! lol... I guess what I am asking, is how does it rank on the "Money Spent for What You Get" scale. What is the value proposition like?
I think that’s what I was trying to get at! The warranty + customer support to back it up is one of the biggest sells of these higher priced chairs. I will say before pulling the trigger, wait til Friday when part 2 comes out, where I present my preferred alternatives!

@@Ahnestly Ok, I now know the ultimate question I was looking to answer about this chair: If I was to sit on a bunch of $200 to $500 amazon, walmart, bestbuy, etc chairs, and then sit on the Vantum, would that $800 feel like a worthy investment for the added comfort and value of the Vantum? Or another way to ask, if I sat in the Vantum, would it "ruin" those other chairs for me, and make me want to spend that extra cash? Sometimes you don't know what you're missing until you experience it, and I have a feeling that is what it is like with these upper echelon gaming and task chairs. Would that be fair to say?
I could really use your expert opinion here. I've been looking at the secretlab titan evo, but I have trouble justifying spending $600 on a chair. I'm 6'5" and 350 lbs so I really need something high quality that will support my weight and also has a tall back. I'm also don't like much lumbar support at all. Those are really my only stipulations. If I can't avoid spending several hundred dollars, then so be it, but I'd like to know what other options I have first. Thank you.
So all the high end brands are going to support 350lbs and you get that sweet warranty. If you need that full back and head support, then you might be looking at the racing style gaming chairs. If so, im a BIG fan of the andaseat skier 3!

@@Ahnestly oh I agree :) but at that price... especially with the seat depth and cushion.... being really subpar or poor for a herman miller product... I think it should be a MAJOR PASS! Idk why HM even greenlit this chair and decided to make a Frankenstein chair with possibly worse parts combined... from all their chairs... but implement far worse in the Vantum... take a look at that lumbar support and the knob that's there to enable it... utterly USELESS!!! the mesh is far worse... that headrest being so cumbersome was an afterthought... and that price point... might as well just splurge and get an AERON or Embody and enjoy a UNIQUE and REAL Herman Miller product... not a bean counter product that the vantum is trying to do...
I am 5,10 and .......very fat boy around 255 pound with Flat feet, lumbar disc herniation, sciatica. but I do love to play game and sitting on a wood chair over 10 hours a day. what is your best suggestion for me ? buy aeron? or secretlab titan XL? my bugget is around 1200$ around
If anyone has real back pain/lower back pain, I highly recommend a high quality chair. I believe the aeron is a really good choice - buying one new gives you benefits such as free returns and 12 year warranty. It’s on sale now, but will be over your budget still. Yooo thanks for asking! My knee is def doing better, but still a long way to go! It still gets stuck if I hyperextend, which is the worst part. Makes running or even walking on uneven surfaces kinda tricky bc the leg needs to hyperextend but it’ll get stuck and pop when I try to bend, which hurts!
