In this episode of Hermitcraft season 9, Mumbo builds up the Buttercup bot that will take on Docm77 and end the Hermitcraft war. This Minecraft walking flying machine is a mega Minecraft slimeblock build. I also do some work on my Hermitcraft Mumbo mega base, get the purple crown from the Hermitcraft diamond button and meet up with Rendog!

The name for the architectural structures like the ones you have built against the wall of your building there would be called "Buttresses". They're primarily were used in order to support or reinforce the walls of the structure from sideways forces caused by the load on an especially heavy arch or roof. But they also just look really cool!

@@olivierallaire6302 Yeah, you're right. I do miss seeing him. He was a cool character, but the last time he was even SEEN was when Mumbo returned. In fact, we haven't even seen the CAVE in a long time. What is it with Grumbots getting abandoned? In season 7, he was left in a virtual reality cube, and in season 9, he's just been forgotten.

18:10 You can call those band like things "buttress". It is a structurally right word and many gothic and romanesque era churches and cathedrals use butresses to support their roofs. Sometimes the butress is built a distance away from the wall and connected with a structure called flying buttress. This still holds up the vaulted ceilings that those cathedrals have.

I’m all on board with your approach to using litematica mumbo, that’s pretty much what I use it for as well, having built a bunch of complex storage systems and farms its a blessing to not have to follow block by block tutorials or look at screenshots from a creative world

I like how Grian builds a fantasy castle on floating rocks, with lush nature running through the valley below, with a leaf bridge connecting his castle to where his best friend lives, and then Mumbo builds an evil factory with a vault securing his mountains of diamonds and riches.

If it's not too late to be seen, I think a good and not terribly boring way to deal with the eggs is to use pistons, buttons, and two people. One runs around placing pistons on their sides facing into the eggs, and the other follows while holding buttons in the off-hand and a pick in the main one. Button person places button on top, presses, then breaks the piston. Minimal work for each, and piston person only has to worry about placing one thing correctly. 👍👍

Those bits around your base with the froglights on are called buttresses. They are very common in Gothic architecture and they are used to stabilize buildings

Architecture historian here - I would definitely call those vertical structural parts buttresses, though not flying. It definitely looks Art Deco but also Brutalist - and I mean actual brutalism, not just "it looks ugly so it's brutalism." Certainly an interesting mashup of the two styles

I was gonna comment to say they look like battlements on top of a castle. Which is sorta what the end product looks like to me as well. A very tall dark almost evil looking castle from a fantasy game. Think like the icecrown citidel from WoW wotlk.

I think the side bits you didn't have a name for would technically also be buttresses, in architecture terms. Also, DON'T just leave it as a facade! Grian not doing the back of his base is how the war started in the first place!

I really really like Mumbo, Scar and Grian butting heads with Doc & Ren. I watch all the sides of things just cause it's so out of the ordinary for Hermits to do something as massive as grief with eggs or chickens... And in the end it's all in good spirits. It's so good. And yeah, mumbo, you're allowed to do what you want. You're the one building it, you should be the one enjoying it. Otherwise you're just working and not enjoying. Doesn't sound fun.

Love how the base is coming along! As a tip for faster building, if you hold the logs in your off-hand, then use your axe on your hot bar, you can scroll to your axe as if it were a stripped log block and double click to place then strip. If you hold a different block in your main hand then you place that block instead so you can still switch out. Hope that helps, thanks for the amazing content, a Mumbo video is always a good start to my day!

I am still so glad how this base is turning out!! I'll admit, when I was watching you slowly building up your previous base I thought it looked really cool, but there was a little voice in the back of my head saying that was just something about it that just didn't feel quite right.
