What I find impressive about the rib cage is how good it looks from the inside, which I think comes from the scale of the build and the attention to block placement to get an organic structure to feel right. Structures inside caverns can be tricky to get a good perspective on. But I can see how it may not be the most practical place to traverse, so it's a choice of how you balance form and function.

Sure you can put the tadpoles in buckets but if you want a specific type of frog you have to make sure it grows up in a specific biome and then transport the fully grown frog all the way back to where you want it. I know the goal is to fly into parts of the ribcage, but it seems that they form natural sloping paths if you walk around them. You could make doorways in the sides of the spine that allow for access to each rib/floor as a secondary means for reaching them. The ribcage is glorious.

3:30 THAT IS THE EXACT REASON WHY I KINDA HATE 1.19! It is called the wild update and it was implied there would have been a reason to stick around in some of the places but we get the boring dungeon that is the Deep Dark cities, like they look cool but they are dissappointing to explore, I was hoping for more of the nooks we saw in the Caves and Cliffs first reveal with the city being a rare dungeon with a bit more like having spawners with mobs that won't activate the Skulk sensors like Zombies and Skeletons, more so strays, so it would actually feel fun to explore instead of an overpowered miniboss that just exists. Like I would have taken out the Warden from it ngl and just added spawners with the Warden being the overall Deep Dark. The Birch Forest updates and the Mangrove Swamp deserved more attention IMO, like have a rare witch hut that isn't the regular Swamp version and is bigger due to the denseness of the Mangroves, hell Archeology would have fit better with the Mangroves than the underground city so you can have excavation pits in certain areas and the mud would have preserved what you find better than regular dirt. Then the Fireflies would have been a reason why I would have made a swamp base too so I could make Fire fly street lamps for a log city but mojang was like "nooooo~ we can't add the small bugs because some species are poisonous to mobs." But this is not a game based on real life and it is evident with frogs eating cubes of lava to make lamps is an evident sign of it and taking out Fireflies, which aren't even feeder insects, for that reason was idiotic. Beyond that the Birch Forest if added could have also expanded the Villager aspect like possibly having a hut with rare items being a rare thing would be cool along with possibly a llama kept there to signify its a Wandering Trader house and you can even have like a special carpet that you can only get there or from the trader woud have been cool to see as well and would have fit with the more mystical aspect the art provided. The Wild update was a majorly missed oppritunity and it sucks that it was, like I am staying on 1.18.2 until Optifine updates with a full release for 1.19 or even for 1.20's release date because of my distaste for what 1.19 brought and is lacking. Legitimately I just wish they did more focused updates instead of broad ideas and not have mob votes and just roll out the mobs slowly so we can see them realized instead of just feeling rushed from concept into play, like the Allay or the Phantom because both are kind of annoying and useless IMO, but the Phantom just needed time to cook longer because its the main one that I feel was robbed of potential as it was concept to game instead of fleshed out ideas like how the future mob votes went. Sorry this was a lot of my negativity, I am just going to be forever dissappointed with 1.19 as there were so many good ideas but the most lackluster one was the one that came through in full. Still your ideas on farming the Mangrove trees is one that I will definitely be thinking of doing as I actually do 1.19 when I get to it, I mean the whole segment of farming it manually has me thinking of ways to farm it because I am thinking of something chaotic: TNT Canons, specifically classic style ones from before Slimeblocks became a thing because I have been looking for a way to find new use for them and this may be the time.

Lol. Yeah I don’t recommend growing mangroves in huge clumps. I’ve found it works pretty good to climb to the highest bunch of leaves. There’s usually a vine that you can climb to that point or you can scaffold up. That’s where the branch comes out. That’s always going to be higher than the main trunk. Then dig in diagonally until you hit the trunk. Occasionally you’ll find a second smaller branch as well. And then once you clear the main trunk, if you’ve got the Vanilla Tweaks fast leaves thingy on (thank you for making that btw), you’ll know that you’d found all the wood because the leaves will disappear quicker. Then you still have to chop the roots manually but that’s not a huge deal.
@jasonreed7522
@jasonreed7522 Год назад
If you don't care about the roots you can always burn them. Also theoretically you could just make a grid for propagule placement and a matching grid above the trees and only take out the cores if you don't feel like dealing with the branches. (Or have a tnt system like etho made for spruces drop down the shaft used, actually just have 4 spots for trees in the corners of a tick tac toe board and tnt the center, you will only need a hoe to dig it out.) I personally don't think a max rates farm will be efficient about getting every single block from the branches.

2 options to counter the mangrove made water sources, use dispensers to start the water after growth, I'm using 1 dispenser on diagonal trays. The other option is to use pistons to raise then lower the floor. Because the roots grow in cardinal directions I found it easier and more efficient to plant then bonemeal individual propagules diagonally, using mud blocks to mark the line in the tray. Harvesting - I use a method similar to branch mining where I scaffold up on one end, use a how to remove the second row of leaves exposing the logs to harvest. After the row is clear I climb back up remove every 3rd row. The roots can be turned into bonemeal.

A few tips of wisdom for dealing with sculk ---- You can walk and sprint around on wool and carpets without making noise (beware of walking on the edges tho) You can traverse on ordinary blocks without being on wool but you'd HAVE to be crouched to not make noise The shriekers work on a 3 strike system, 4th strike and the Warden spawns The strikes are player specific and it remembers which strike you're on IF the warden does indeed spawn, you have a few moments to get away during it's animation (it also makes a lot of noise if you're not sure if it's spawned or not)

If you're going to use a water collection system in a manual or semi-auto treefarm, use sticky pistons in combination with slime/honey blocks to raise a growing platform up to the water level to create a dry platform for planting and growing saplings. When everything is grown or you don't want to wait anymore, lower the platform down below the water so it reforms the proper streams and commence harvesting. You may need to adjust how high to raise the platform to ensure the mangrove roots don't penetrate through it, and with the slime/honey you can leave some space for the collector system.

@jasonreed7522
@jasonreed7522 Год назад
Raiding a swamp is probably the fastest way, but you can theoretically automate a farm the does moss -> bonemeal and a stone generator that does stone -> moss -> dirt -> mud -> blast chamber or mud -> clay -> blast chamber that requires 0 player input. For reference etho made a stone gen -> azalea farm in his single player world so you could take that and separate the rooted dirt from the oak logs and use that to source dirt (i think you might need to shovel the rooted dirt into a path block and push that under a solid block to make it dirt again). Or we can safely assume ilmango will have a fully functional pull lever and AFK farm released in a couple weeks.

Just think of it, mine carts that go up and down the tops of the rib bones, a central station in the sternum or spine that you can use to hop from one cart to the other that takes you to each farm. For your mangrove propagules farm. It can also double as a semi auto coco Bean farm replacing the wall below the sticky piston with a jungle log. For bedrock players, the only slight change to the build would be to put a transparent block/slab beside the piston on the dispenser side to power both dispensers without triggering off the piston and a dust on top of said slab/transparent block. Everything else remains the same. Just rebuilt it with the above mentioned changes in my test world. Also added two hoppers and a wall of honey blocks to catch it. Now if you wanted to automate it. I’d attach an etho hopper clock to the initial piston instead of a button press.

My world is in the early stages (no End yet, limited Nether), but I have a nice skeleton spawner near my base so bonemeal is no problem, this farm fits perfectly for those pre-mega farm stages, since Mangroves were a MASSIVE pain to just casually farm without some type of design. I plonked down a portal at my local Mangrove Swamp once I found it, and linked it to my nether roof to make it a shorter hop to my light farm (no mob cap issues off-server). Temperate and Warm frogs both tend to spawn around the Mangrove Swamp it seems, so that's easy. Breeding them there and taking the tadpoles to a cold biome seemed the path of least resistance, I already had a portal to a cold biome. But according to Wiki, The End is considered a Cold biome (never knew that, or it's new). You should be able to breed Cold frogs there, and who doesn't have an end portal route already?

I'm wondering if you could abuse this along with build limit to setup a situation where the tree can only grow one our two blocks high before hitting build limit and then just piston those few wood blocks away for harvesting.

Couple of things: 1. I am LOVING the skeleton this season as a whole. For ease, I personally think you would be making the right decision to move the entrances to the farms. Let the skeleton be an epic art piece. I am happy you moved your nether portal, too, to make things easier on yourself. Again, the look of the build is amazing in itself, but you need something quick and easy. 2. I have only been playing the game for several years at this point. I have played every version on every device and console including modded on Java, but I have found that I prefer to do things manually (back to basics I call it). I just enjoy playing Minecraft at a leisure for the exploration of the game. I play it as if I'm playing a Zelda game. Can I just tell you my jaw DROPPED when you did the ender pearl to the top of the spruce tree! You just made me so happy! I also want to thank you for taking the time to find out the best process for the manual mangrove farming. 3. Your weapons are looking EPIC! 4. Your giggle at the frog was just so heart warming. Oh that's funny I follow a golfing channeling from the UK and the dude is always saying "get stuck in" and I've never heard anyone else say that phrase until the last couple seconds of this video. Cheers Xisuma!

you could add growths to the rib cage to spot areas, or put flesh like bits on

At 18:50, when X says "How Bizarre" it sounded exactly like the old song, "How Bizarre" by OMC. I couldn't concentrate until I found the song and listened to it.

I understand your point about it being nice to have a reason to stick in the mangrove for a long time, but for me the reason is simply because it looks nice. My goal on worlds is always to build something in each biome, and nether them all up!

I like the ribcage idea you had... a central base to start from then you can use the slight angle of the ribs as a stairwell to walk up to the farms hidden outside the ribcage

if you wanted to the opportunity to walk around and be in the rib cage bones, you could make walkways that come out of the spine area near the portal. these would walk down the ribs and then enter rooms inside the mountain. stairs/elevators would move the player up and down and take advantage of all the available ribs. then when leaving these rooms, you would be able to fly around the spae in the ribcage and still get that view.

I remember about a year ago I tried to make the most pointless farm in minecraft, so I made a water farm, which made water buckets and then stored them in shulker boxes. Absolutely pointless. I later googled it and found out a lot of people had already made such farms, and they were a lot more compact and sensible than my farm, and I also learned that it was a great concept for filling glass bottles for auto-brewing so it wasn't as pointless as I thought. And now I see with the new mud block it's actually a very useful concept. I'm gonna have to find my old design and make a contraption like you made. Only I'mma make it less efficient and less compact, because if I don't make it my own way I just won't understand how it works and that's no fun. Then I'll come back to yours and see what I did wrong :) Still wondering what the most pointless farm in minecraft could be, though. A tropical fish farm maybe? Or a nitwit breeder?

X what if you had certain spots of your rib cage be fake walls with map art, so you can go “through” the wall. And it can be a bigger hole so it’s easier to access and you can keep your original idea for navigating your base. Also bonus points for having it be kind of secret where the entrances are. Just a thought. :)
