Well you could get cleo and cub over to your tcg arena is you were to offer them a derpcoin for their museum Other offers could be ious or if you have shops coupons armor trims could be a motivator too
U can die with alot of levels ur self so if u can make a quick build op xp farm urself all u have to do is make ur self auto die every 30 levels and u got sculk spread for days
I think Doc was a little nervous about that sculk farm and wondered if his base would be infested when he comes back from vacation. 😂 (This would be the perfect time to prank him as he'll be gone for a fortnight)
The thing about sculk is that it generates where the mob died and not on the catalyst, thats why the chicken farm didnt work, the base block needs to be a sculk block ( it cant be catalyst because the catalyst itself doesnt trasmit charges only the block and veins does, the catalyst only needs to be on a 9 block radius for the mobs to generate a charge) and it needs to have atleast 1 side open to air so it can spread, this would also apply to the mob farm, it is actually inneficient the way it is now because only mobs that are dying near the corner generate charges, the ones dying in the midle or near it dont, it would be better if you make the platform where the mobs die be normal sculk blocks, but only changing the floor wont work because it needs at least 1 air block for a charge to exist so the best way to do it would be to make where the mob dies a floating platform where the bottom is made of sculk blocks and is exposed to air and them having the "pipes" coming from the bottom where the carges are traveling
Xisuma releases video: I have a Mischievous plan for a new mob farm Doc 3 days earlier: What the heck is Xisuma doing spreading sculk behind my Hall of Goat!?!
Ah, so that's where the patch of sculk came from. This whole episode felt like a fun myth busting style video, which I do enjoy. Fun idea: What if you add your own custom music into a custom record disk? Or maybe Ren's shop could help showcase X's music somehow? Of course, do take your time X, we all love what you do.
Loved the formatting and pacing of this episode, it felt less "produced" if that makes sense, but still kept all the elements that you as the creator put into it, which is what keeps us coming back.
Actually surprised by how emotional and smoothing the music was in your timelapse and to discover you made it, i cant wait to see more mixes of your music and minecraft. Maybe you can implement both elements in a way no one’s done it before
As the time lapse was going, I was thinking "wow this music is really cool, xisuma always has really awesome music in his videos!" And then I find out it's yours!! Im so hyped that you are sharing your music in your hermitcraft videos :D
Loving the energy of this video. Welcome back X. Ive also worked out that you can simply remove the anti cramming ladder at the bottom part of the chicken thingy as well as the lava and just let them die to cramming. Babies appear to be immune to cramming and then insta pop when they grow anyway.
This is so cool!! I had no idea sculk could spread so far, you practically made that valley into a deep dark!! Also I love that you used your music for the timelapse!!
the camel and sculk projects are really cool for using underrated cool features! i also love the timescale of the sculk project letting us see more at once than we're used to
The tubes to carry the Sculk charge looks incredibly cool and menacing... especially the way the Sculk spreads out from them, making it look like pipes or roots spewing out sculk infection.
X, I've gotta say, I think your season 9 is really coming into its own. You've made some really impressive builds/redstone contraptions and I have been loving it. Maybe I'm biased because I like making longer timescale content, but this episode was great. Hope you enjoy your time making music and enjoying other aspects of life :)
Since you came out with your album I've thrown it into my weight lifting rotation. Been really enjoying it and it pairs well with heavy lifts and keeping me in the right mindset. I hope you continue on your musical journey and outside of your typical RU-vid persona, you've gained a musical fan.
From a distance, this whole farm looks like a syringe, albeit a massive one. Love your music for the timelapse! Thank you for including it. ❤ Hope your day is a delightful one!
I watched your recent shashwammy says and I have to say please don’t quit HC you’re a backbone of the community- you’ve added and found so many amazing things and add one that make HC all that more entertaining to watch. You’re music is amazing and I hope you continue to promote it through this avenue.
Maybe, a way to improve the sculk spreading would be to do the following: 1) Sculk sensors created by spread note the time they are created. 2) When a sculk charge is generated, it looks around for a sculk sensor, and (with some variance) it will try to travel to the youngest sculk sensor in the nearby area. Once there, it will again look to see if there is a younger sensor nearby, and it has a chance to travel towards that one, etc etc. If the sculk charge converts a block, it goes back to random behavior. 3) If a charge travels to a sensor that has no convertible material around it, but also no younger sensor nearby to travel to, it will make that sensor appear a little "older" With this kind of setup, you would get naturally occurring "sculk" highways, or lines of sensors radiating out from the source(s). This would help the charge travel outwards when the nearby area has been mostly converted. This way the max distance the sculk can spread is decently far out. Alternatively, an easier idea might be to give each sculk charge, when created, a bias vector (in 3 dimensions). The odds of the sculk moving in that direction are higher than the odds of it moving any other direction. This means there is less variance and a greater chance to travel long distances
That unpowered redstone block is a really cool idea. Makes me think it would be very useful if there was a server-wide signal block that admins could configure to give out a signal at different times. It wouldn't do anything otherwise, so it's not like you could make wireless redstone stuff with it.
I didn't quite understand how that unpowered block worked, is the reason it powers shortly built into the datapack he spoke about or is it some odd redstone workings?
its so freakin cool to hear 'the curse of the eclipse' as the timelapse song! i absolutely love the album, i hope we get to hear more of it in timelapses, that was wicked
I love that you've added your own music into the timelapse for this episode! Felt so seamless and almost didn't pick up that it was your song because I've just been listening to it so much
I have done a few sculk experiments myself, and in my experiences, moving the catalyst point around the area helps spread it better once it gets to the bigger sizes. Obviously with the big mob farm that's difficult, but you kinda did it already with the controlled charges. However, if you can figure out the chicken farms, this would be easier. (I think the problem might be the chickens catching on the ladder with the water? I'm not sure.) I also discovered wardens are immune to lava and fire, but can still be frozen using powdered snow. Also, warden and shulker fights are incredibly entertaining, and you can get a cool screen-saver look-a-like with them, but I digress. Back on topic, once the sculk areas get bigger, you genuinely just need to move the catalysts to a different area nearby. I found about 20-30 blocks off the edge of the first area is best if you want one giant sculk area. Although, I did have one experiment have one charge go in a straight line almost 40 blocks away and cause a big patch at the end, but I've never seen that happen again. (I've used repeater command blocks to drop constant streams of mobs to fuel the catalysts quickly, and even then the spread never got much bigger than what you achieved here.)
Thanks for the introduction to Fruno! I had long since seen that problem with the timing of the water in the mob farm, but don't understand redstone well enough to fix it myself.
I honestly love the fact that you started using your songs as a soundtrack for timelapses etc it makes those videos much more unique and waaaay cooler! Keep at it X
One thing you could do with the catalyst is create communication towers in some way. Like you set up multiple catalyst/sculk spreading machines (tiny ones) and you get use the controlled sculk spreader arms, featured in this video, to communicate with the main farm and the towers. I have no clue if this would work or if this makes sense but it seems like a good idea that would work. Also I have been listening to your album on repeat, I love it and your amazing X! Whatever content you post, hermitcraft, vault hunters, it will surely be amazing! Look foward to more amazing times and videos.
You have to trap the charge under the mob farm and pump more charge into it and then release it all as it decays per block traveled and having them seperated multiplies the decay
2:18 beautiful backing music. I knew that was you before you mentioned it haha cuz I listen to you on Spotify! I absolutely love how you play X! The atmosphere reminds me of my own songs
For the chicken farm, you can replace the fence post and water with a solid block or dropper and add a bottom slab on top of that. If your chicken production rate reaches the entity cramming limit within 20 minutes then the oldest chicken takes damage; adults never produced. To prevent this you can use two droppers, two hoppers, two comparators, a repeater, and an observer to split the egg stream. Aim a hopper into the lower dropper, aimed up into the bottom slab of the first chamber. Use a comparator and repeater to lock the bottom hopper when the dropper is occupied; through a solid block to keep the top hopper working. The next higher hopper, over the first, gets an egg and puts it in the second dropper, aimed into the side of the second bottom slab. When the second dropper receives the egg both droppers are activated by the observer detecting the comparator tripping. I had to used a solid block with a hopper mine cart and twisted vine to bypass entity cramming for my system as the birds dropped from above; ladder hit boxes were preventing proper poultry placement.
Ah, this will explain what's going on in the docs backyard ps: if youre trying to conquer the world with sculk, maybe dont start it next to someone who could destroy the world lol, im just kidding messing with the goat is fun
listened to soulside eclipse recently when i went to a doctors appointment by myself for the first time! i was really stressed on the bus but your music was killer, i enjoyed it a lot. it wasnt what i usually listen to and im glad i branched out!
what a great thing to be able to put your own music as the timelapse songs! I bet that's very motivating :D I said to myself "building a whole new mob farm would break me, go X!" but I bet having your own music made it so much better!
Having a mid to giant sized Evil X (whole body or just torso and above, legs hidden in lava or quicksand or something) holding a downwards facing sword/magical staff into the ground, using the torso as space for chicken/mob farms and skulk emanating from the sword/ground impact point, would look super cool as an advertisement. Could have underground skulk 'bridges' in tunnels to more discreetly spread the skulk. Though the 'bridges' in your current farm look really cool as they are! Really too bad about the difference in function between test world/server for the chicken farms, that would be rather frustrating. Love your music album too, instantly recognized it in the video :)
My chicken/skulk farm I have the dispenser under a half slab shooting up. The lava on top of that. The chicks lose momentum and stay at that level when they hatch until they grow, you can put hoppers under a 3x3 half slab platform if you wanna collect the drops. It's 100% efficient for me (but I'm on bedrock, not sure if it'll translate to Java)
The time lapse music was fantastic, I was thrilled to learn that you made it! And the server restart data pack is super cool. Fantastic episode! Excited to be branching out to hermits I've never watched before!
do larger experience orbs make the skulk travel farther? if so, then maybe an enderman farm, blaze farm, [dragon farm], or maybe even if you have exp orb stacking enabled, maybe you could somehow gather it periodically similar to how you used webs to stack items for it travel farther?
Xisuma, I've stopped watching MC videos 4-5 years ago, but I still come by your channel to see how you're doing, and I'm happy to see you're still going strong! Your channel has been a big part of my life back in 2012-2016, and I will always be grateful to you. Still remember your bycicle riding videos 😅
Seeing your skulk spread on docs video, now I know who the culprit is, just don't let the goat know lol. For the Evil X battle, like many mmo or dungeon games there are minions, or in some games and irl it's also said on a tv or radio. My suggestion to grab the Hermits attention is; What if there are zombies or other mobs that are holding flyers talking about the big man 'Evil X' spread around Hermitcraft. If anything usually mobs that attack, people will automatically kill, but then they end up picking up the flyer/book that they are holding. Maybe even a short animation talking about the mobs and their "evil master, aka: Evil X'. Even maybe if some are holding a written message, there's the possibility of a music disk of a recording of plans from Evil X, and the only way to 'stop' the plan is to go defeat him. Unfortunately, what that plan is , I have no idea, but sounds fun.
Imagine if he actually spread sculk *ALL OVER THE SERVER* like *EVERYWHERE* the reaction of the hermits would be *priceless* (this is a *joke*) I am aware that cub tried this during the crossover
Another informative episode X, love 'em. Sniffer eggs- you could add 2 pods that have 2 sniffers in each. This way you don't have to worry about any escapes. EvilX TCG, simply put signs at the other arenas and the TCG shop advertising the game. Heads up, Doc expressed some concern regarding the skulk. Don't poke the GOAT! Skulk spreading, on top of what you mentioned regarding the chance, remember that each extra block of radius adds significantly more blocks to the circumference. Chicken farms- TBH that's the first time I've seen a waterlogged wall used. Maybe swap it out for a slab? Keep up the great content
Thanks for the shoutout to the recent mythbusting episode - I don't think RU-vid pushed it out to me so I hadn't seen it!!! Off to watch once I finish this video - love your work X!
To get the Hermit's attention, I'd place an advertisement in the shopping district. That's all I think you need. It's not on displays anywhere but your base. Put up a billboard or make a few books. You'll be good if you do that.
Those sculk legs are so menacing! It looks like some giant machine corrupting the land. Actually, with those legs and the main body, it's kinda shaped like a bacteriophage
For the evil x boss fight, it’s been a while so I don’t remember the rewards you are giving the hermits for winning but what if every time someone loses to evil x, the reward for beating him increases. And the key part, you build a little something in the shopping area that keeps track of x’s current reward and win/loss ratio.
Love your videos X, I've been a subscriber forever! You are a tremendous content creator, and it's a shame that you get hardly any credit for your behind-the-scenes work, which is holding together THE ONE smp server that everybody wants to emulate. Thanks for the shoutout!
What an awesome way to create a custom evil looking biome, with the sculk highways looking like alien machinery. Only thing missing would be a large menacing tower around the mob farm. Looking forward to see how you're going to blend the edges to make the transition sculk-to-grass less jarring though
I was wondering about the music, was wondering if could be yours. And really exited that it turned out to be, I love atmospheric symphonic rock, and that awesome bit hit all the right buttons! Definitely going to check out more of your music 🙂
It's subtle, but I like the change of formatting in the title! Seems more up to date with RU-vid nowadays, but still keeps the episode numbers in it. I like it!
:D glad to see you back on hermitcraft. I’ve been watching your vault hunters vods and enjoying those. I liked this hermitcraft vid. Felt much more relaxed and more fun
This skulking farm gave Docm77 a bit of a heart attack. He was watching you AFK and wonders what you're up to. I love it though, I think it's great! And happy to see you back, although I have been watching your other channels too. Stay frosty!
I love that you're using soulside eclipse in your videos! I'm not a huge music listener so I haven't found the time to support you in that way... But I'm excited if it becomes a part of your videos since I'll get to hear it here!
1. Plant as many thick trees as you can you want shadow over as much as you can get. 2. place chicken makers in the new forest 3. wait for zombies to come and pick up the eggs 4. hire others to kill zombies. See if you can hid Sculk Catalyst.
currently you only have 4 ways the skulk charges can travel, one for each cardinal direction. what you could do to improve the skulk coverage is add more ways the carge can travel... maybe 3 for each cardinal direction, with varying lengths the charges can travel... 16, 32, and 48 for example. That would sped up the "contamination" process
I love how much detail Xisuma goes into about the mechanics of this without really mentioning WHY he wants to spread sculk everywhere. I assume it's besides the point.
Love the camel dash X!! I was wondering what that structure was… and as always your thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and magnanimity shine through!
I know I'm late, but if you still want to cover the server, try making a flying machine farm, so you can move the farm and change where the center of the skulk is for the optimal efficiency
@xisumavoid you should start an event called the skulkpocalyse where anyone killed by the warden or while on skulk become infected with skulk and put in a skulk tainted skin. Then they could hunt the other players on the server like that one gray ghost event hermitcraft did a few seasons ago. I would love ❤️ to see something similar come back, it’s one of my favorite hermit craft subplots ever
This felt like watching an episode of mythbusters, when something doesn't explode properly Jamie and Adam just attach more C4. X just adds more redstone.
I feel like this title works really well, with Hermitcraft placed at the end! I'm a longtime viewer, but I feel like maybe the whole 1000 episode thing may ward off new viewers who feel like they can't catch up, when for this series you don't really need to. This way you can make catchy titles, whilst still pleasing fans who like to know which video is when :D
i kinda like the idea of a skulk dooms day device! kinda like the nether terraforming machines in minecraft legends. imagine if they could spread thousands of blocks...
