But believe me this is a very important .. todo But it is also very painful Wearing a binder to keep everything in place ! But also feels like you dont have no ribs ... I had 5 c - setion as well decades ago .. my advice Is to rest as much as you can ..walk as expected few steps here - there ... Laxative To help as well ... Do stairs as well ... We are all in this together ... To restore our health ! Huge thanks to this Wonderful woman who is sharing her experience with us And another huge thanks ! I’m so happy I came upon this video. I just had surgery a week ago and it’s been a painful process. This is so relatable and refreshing knowing someone else experienced this. I too am not a person who sits still. I underestimated the longevity of the healing process. I thought I’d be feeling better by now too and not even close. I’m looking forward to better days
I've had a few surgeries now. It's never fun. And you always end up constipated fr the pain killers you need. One thing not many people know is it takes many months for the anesthesic to completely get out of your system, and it's very common for it to make you feel a bit depressed too. Just remember how much your body has gone through, and know that resting and looking after yourself is very important. Love and light, and all the healing vibes out to you xoxo
I'm a worn-out old lady. Have had a painful inguinal hernia for a few years & haven't been able to get surgery ( or any relief or help from my family, who live on the same 3 acres as I...). If you hold and press a pillow into your stomach/incision area when you need to cough, sit up, shift, etc. It really does help. I had to do that when I had both of my c-sections.
I had mine 5 days ago and yes the pain is killing. Holding my stomach for the coughs and laughs really help. I did mine in SA 🇿🇦 but was in hospital for 4 days for pain control.

I also don't like anything medical and i'm not very brave even when it comes to having a blood test I cry like a baby and I suffer with panic attacks! I may also have to have surgery but that's not been confirmed yet, but I have read that I could possibly have local rather than general anaesthetic which I think i would prefer!
I just had Umbilical Herniation surgery yesterday and I'm feeling the same way It's extremely painful 😭 I am in a extreme pain and I hope it subsides real soon because I really can't handle it ...I just keep praying to God it gets better and taking one day at a time.
This video helps a lot. Haven't had my surgery yet, (6 days away) but I feel better watching this. My concerns are the same as everyone here. At least now I can lower my expectations and take my time healing. I was thinking after like 3-4 days I would kinda be back to light action. But I don't think that's gonna happen now. And I am greatful finding this video and seeing these comments to give me proper perspective and make the mental adjustment NOW. Thank you.
I had an umbilical Repair two weeks Ago and did NOT have the same experience she outlined above. I had pain and discomfort for 5 days and then I felt great! I recommend you ask For a nerve block at the hospital. They’ll inject it into Your belly area and it numbs everything for 24’hours. That reduced my pain IMMENSELY!! Best of luck on your surgery!
@@aknchn1111 Yessir. I got it. It's done. Not gonna lie the first I would say 3 days was RUFF man. But after like day 4 it started getting better. Like noticibly each day it was better. By like day 6 I was GOOD to move around and basically resume normal life. Minus the lifting and whatnot. I did what they said, and didn't lift over 10 pounds for 6 weeks. I'm completely GOOD now. Back at the gym this past week. Everything is good.
I had hernia I was up and moving same day little sore but nothing to can't handle. They give you some pain meds pain scale is like 5 out of 10. 2nd week it's like 1 out of 10
I found out I have a small one around my c section scar they said watch and wait but I don’t wanna wait till it gets bad! So I’m glad I came across your vid! Good to know it’s not just a simple in and out done situation. I also thoroughly enjoyed your humor at the hospital while you were waiting 😂 the bathroom situation was hilarious! And I’m the same I love to hear the gossip from the nurses cools my nerves
Thank you so much for this video. I could hardly find anything on the experience, it was all mostly expert videos. I’m now one week post op and not feeling great. I felt so many of the things you said from the fears of the anesthesia to hunching and feeling like an old lady. Another was feeling guilty for resting so much. It’s been a year since you posted this video, but wanted you to know I appreciated it.
I am 2 weeks post-op hernia surgery... I had three hernias in my lower abdominal region repaired at one time, I'm doing okay, lots of cramping, one of my incisions was bleeding this morning, however I'm getting better every day and I'm way better than I was before the surgery:-) I'm a hair stylist and so I stand at my job and gravity is gravity, I'm working more and more everyday to be on my feet and spend more and more time every day to get better so I can go back to work :-) namaste :-)
I am so glad the surgery went well but sorry you had so much pain afterwards.I couldn't stop laughing though at you locking yourself in the toilets lol, that is something that I would do then panic because I don't want to make a fuss and call the nurse , my panic for you was rising lol. I had open surgery with spinal block for my left portside incisional incarcerated hernia 2 days ago and I feel so much better, the pain is no where near as painful as I expected. The doctors and nurses were very caring. They gave me fentanyl as often as I needed. Then later on morphine. And gave me 30 mg x 2 every 4 hours to take and I havnt needed them as paracetamol works. As soon as the paralysation wore off ( hours after op) I was asking if I could go home. The only thing that hurts is when I cough ( just like my 2 c sections ( but not as bad) the scare is abit bigger than I expected but the pain really isn’t bad. Very grateful for the surgeon, doctors and nurses they have been 💯 👌 x good luck to anyone who is set to have a hernia repair surgery whether keyhole or open surgery. Xx🙏❤
I’m 3 days in recovery and she’s definitely right as far as the pain, the day after the pain was unbearable I couldn’t rest, it was soooo hard standing up because the pain would be worse, My tummy is bloated and swollen and bruised
Well the piercings you can just cover with hospital tape, I’ve had 3 surgeries with piercings in, just covered by tape. And you’re only a day case? There’s really nothing at all to worry about. Worst thing about surgery for me is having to have my acrylics off 😭 I had surgery a few days ago for a hernia repair and appendix removal. Only in overnight but flipping eck it’s painful
Wishing you well Anwen, I had hernia surgery about 10 yrs ago I was in hospital for 5 days due to history of bloo clots when having surgery. They have to put deans in. My body causes lots of internal scaring. You did not overreact as after surgery it’s best be safe then sorry. Let your boys treat you like the queen you are. I can relate to this so much! Thanks for posting. I felt like I was watching myself describe exactly what I’m going through. I’m almost 4 weeks after inguinal hernia surgery right now. Good to know everything I’ve been going through has been normal when I hear of your same exact experience. I don’t feel so alone. I too did not know how painful recovery would be. I’m sorry you got the infection. I did not get one. I am also very slim so the swelling is really strange. Supposedly it takes months to completely go away. Hope you’re doing well now :)
Just had same surgery, same spot, couldn't see it but knew it was there. You are exactly correct in everything you've said. I'm 5 days in and wanting to go to work in 2 days but gona take another week. Don't want to damage the surgery. I have a six pack but it is not seen due to the air and bloating and whatever that glob of a mess is down there, but doomed it messed up my 6 pack. Got off pain meds 4 days into recovery in fear of addiction, I've got more but chose to stop, withdraws we're terrible from oxycodone, night sweats and shacking, just after 4 days of being on them. I feel you! I'm 7 days post op- went into surgery with a 6pack and now I'm a blob. Hoping to my stomach returns to normal. I also stopped the pain killers too. I have a feeling this is going to be along healing process. Tried to go on a walk yesterday and could only last 15 min before the pain was too much. Hang in there my friend. We got this
I had umbilical hernia surgery with mesh. I feel like a big side effect for me was headaches! I'm still in week 1 of recovery and meet with the dr at the 2 week mark so we'll see what they say. After surgery the nurses said to walk. I do also feel very tired and fatigued. Like a big hangover. I actually discovered it was a hernia because I was suffering from back pain for over a year. I also had just had a baby but everyone kept telling me it was bc of the baby. Listen to your gut, Google research, and ultimately see a dr with your theories and concerns. Update: After the surgery I feel like I have less of an appetite and have been dealing with constipation. I am overweight still but feel like the swelling after the surgery has gone away. I am still on my health journey!
I didn't get any pain messages after 1 week... I was in the hospital for 3 days... My stitches were poking out for about a month and a half... That was super irritating...
I would become exhausted very quickly, and talking too much would also affect my abs... I'm glad I found your video... What workouts would you suggest??
Since being unemployed 2+ years, let me tell you, you get used to watching TV all day!!! Especially if you have tv apps like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO, etc- you definitely find something to fill the time 🤣 I tend to also play a lot of solitaire during commercials, like Hulu and Tubi and those free channels have commercials lol. I do other things too, occasionally, like cook, or clean, or go to the grocery store 😂 no one would hold it against you since you just had surgery! You need to sit still and heal woman! Your body heals faster if you sleep though, so try to sleep a lot! ❤️
Here are a few tips for your hernia surgery. Go plant based until you are done healing, meat and animal products will make you constipated. You need to be able to poop. I also started doing hot yoga or use a sauna to sweat out the anesthesia, it stays in your body for a while. No lifting weights for 6 weeks, trust me on this one. Remember you are not alone. If you have pain, I will pray that the universe will protect you and watch over you. Everything will be fine.
I have an extra large one so I’m really wanting to get the surgery. I’m glad to see how your surgery goes. I’ve heard horror stories about how it just comes back after surgery. I’ll pray. 🙏
I did inguinal surgery 3 weeks ago but I have still bulge in my inguinal and I had an appointment with my surgeon today she checked my hernia position she said something is not normal and it shouldn’t be like this much bulge when she touch and press the area of my hernia she said something is moving under he hand so she asked me to come back in two month so i afraid that maybe they did not do a good job and my hernia might be came back 😌

I am having this umbilical hernia repair, done on the 28th of May. My anesthesiologist suggested spinal anesthesia. As she wouldn't recommend general anesthesia especially because the procedure is 30-45 minutes max.

Your surgery experience and recovery sound just like mine. I had a spigelian hernia surgery, it’s below the belly button but more to the side of my body. I am 16 days post surgery now and although I know it’s a lot better, I am still walking like an 80 year old, doubled up, holding on to my guts for dear life. Moveing around the bed especially can still be very painful. How long was it before you could move around without any pain and resume normal day to day activity and work? @@clairejevron6146, thank fully now, I was off for 3 weeks which was difficult as I run my own restaurant with just my wife, we had to close, I then went back and hobbled about cooking for a few more weeks, I was fine within a month being back at work. 6 months later all is well and the operation was a success.
Your surgery experience was like mine mine was a hiatal hernia and it was very painful my incisions felt like they were ripping apart all day long. I had 5 incisions toal
Just had mind 2 days ago pain on day 1 was from the gas trapped in my stomach. Hernia site was just sore and had a pulling sensation when getting up and starting walking around. I had coughing up phlegm along with involuntary breathing at night. Day 2 no pain at all. I got up and moved around a lot. Feel exhausted 😴

You sweet thing, only you could make a hospital scenario funny, exercise & fashion show! I hated seeing you so anxious but it's understandable why. The pain is horrible isn't it, but luckily you had the magnificent Luna Buna being top snuggly nursery 😻 I had to have a hysterectomy when I was 29, omg the pain after... they give you all the info pre op but not much after except don't lift the equivalent of a kettle of water for 6-8 wks... so hard, id check on driving because when I had my hysterectomy it was law I was not insured to drive for 6 wks... it could have changed now... i am a dinosaur after all. Im like you a busy bee always bimbling around so being a good girl & resting is alien & so hard. I know time has past so I hope your pain has eased off now 🥰 You know when ever I have ops, I take my own micropore tape to cover all my earrings etc so I don't have to take them out 😉 Hugs & love xxx 💞
I just got diagnosed with an umbilical hernia and need to schedule a surgery but I am so so so scared! Did you have an open procedure or laparoscopic? Mine is small so I think they're doing open, which is supposed to be more painful. Would you say as long as you're taking the pain meds it's manageable? God help us all!

Hello I enjoyed watching your vid thank you for sharing , I have to go also for surgery I ha e a hernia growing on top of my inside of my tummy too I am scared 😨😳 I had 2 major operations 3 yrs ago got a colostomy bag as well but am still bit scared my hernia is growing bigger I went in a bit late to doctors didn't think it was anything' serious 😥 so I hope I go well with my operation too when I book myself in . I have one that runs from my pelvic bone to my ribs. That's called a lateral hernia. I also have one on my right side sense 2004 has been repaired 5 times. 17 total surgeries within a year for the same thing.

We are in the same experience. All you say is same feelings of mine but the medicine i have for pain and anti inflammatory just ONLY for 3 days no antibiotics or anything.and after i week i need to go back to my work 😢 because working as domestic helper. my employer have poor mindset about rest.i hope i can. Survive the pain ., i wnat to lay down or sit or having short snap but my employer always ask me to walk walk no need to much sleeping and lay down. But sitting and having lay down gives comfort for me and i didn't feel anything pain..im very poor person today's my surgery happened last week ONLY now pushing my self to work
The only thing I could add is that in my case the hospital sends you home with a hernia belt, takes allot of load off the muscles which does cut down on the pain quite a bit.

About 30years ago I underwent 4 open thorocotomy procedures to repair a recurring hiatus hernia there was no laparascopic procedures back then the damage to your body caused by open surgery is very extensive.and the pain was very severe it took me a year to recover. Today I have a recurrent hiatus hernia and no surgeon is keen to carry out a laproscopic repair because of scar tissue due to previous surgeries .

Thanks for video.I had my inguinal hernia repair with mesh and it still hurt...cant twist my body, its hard to get up from bed...few days ago I had my period and the pain was unbearable....I wonder if having a mesh can increases the period pain? It is also little bit painful for me to pie, does anyone have similar experience? How are you doing right now, when did you start to feel 100% yourself again?
I had diaphragm hernia surgery 7 weeks ago and the pain during recovery is horrible I'm still in pain and left side is still bloated and skin is still sensitive it's getting better but recovery takes longer that they tell you it will
Thank you for posting. This was posted 11 months ago, so do you thing the surgery was worth it? My hernia is not big and its only my fat pushing through right now. Its not super painful. It gives me dull pain a few times a week. There has been one time the pain was prettty bad. My surgery is scheduled for Monday with a surgeon that has great reviews🤔. I am still a little undecided if i should do it. Are you happy you got it repaired?

Oh gosh lovely hope you're doing better my dad is awaiting hip surgery he needs a replacement after breaking his foot it injured his hip too he's signed the surgery forms after his meeting with his surgeon now just waiting for the day to come round he can't walk unaided now so hope it's soon 💖
happy you did yours hospital in the states gave me C-section defect after my daughter and I had hernia surgery now the mesh is bulging shortly after bowling ball size selling and doctors wont fix bc of risk I look 9 months pregnant on the right its crazy hernia surgery is risky omg do you have mesh

Was it a hiatus hernia? This is what I have but I also experience pain under my right rib and my chiropractor once told me that I could have a hernia there too. But I've never had that properly seen to I have reflux too What was yours thanks x ps I found this by looking up the loreal match mineral foundation because I just couldn't for the life of me figure it out 😄 x
They hurt a very long time... every time you use your muscles it will feel like you have injured yourself over again... So scary to think the hernia has come back... I had three places I was herniated...
It's been 10 days since my surgery n like u said i have been having pain where the hernia was, I had right inguinal hernia n had the robotic surgery, I didn't notice any incision scars on u, i have 3 scars bout 1 inch long n those r sore as well but probably to b expected, the pain at the old hernia area was due to n infection or did they say that's normal ?

I’m 74 and due to have surgery next month. I have to have it since the majority of my stomach is in my chest instead of below the diaphragm. I’m in the same boat - my husband is 84 and cannot help me as he is in bad shape. No family near me, so I’m really concerned.

It's painful I know. I'm in ,4th week now and I'm having a hard time walking or being comfortable. I'm 58 with Parkinson's and am walking even slower lol 🤣 I hope you get your surgery
I’m nervous because I just realized I have 1 Wednesday night. I just had twins 8 weeks ago this coming up Monday via c section. And now I’m gonna have to get cut open again 😭😭😭. I go Tuesday to see my Dr to get the ball rolling. This is gonna be interesting.
I feel the same way as do. It’s almost 3 weeks and I am still not 100 %. I thought I would be back to normal in a few days. But I still feel some discomfort and tugging and pulling. If o walk a little I feel I need to rest.
